Oops!

I was talking on the phone with my mom when the timer started beeping. While talking, I walked into the kitchen and turned off the beeper and then killed the oven. Instinct.

Half hour goes by and my wife asks who turned the oven off.

"I did."

"Well, hello stupid, I'm trying to cook a friggin' turkey in that oven!"

Doh! It should be okay, and if it's the best turkey ever, that 30 minute cool down will be added to the recipe.

That's pretty funny.

While talking on the phone the other night, my mom was mixing the filling for her chocolate cream pie. She wasn't paying attention and the some of filling flew out of the bowl and hit her right in the face. Classic unintentional comedy.

The Turkey? It was perfect! Not dry or overly juicy. Of course, my wife kept it in the oven for about 20 minutes longer. We had one our co-workers family come over and the 17 pound bird is nothing but a carcass in the crock-pot today. No left-overs.... ....but it was worth it.

But I'm not allowed to put, "cool off bird for half hour" into the cooking instructions.

I was wondering if the 30 minute cool down period would make it into the recipe

Glad it turned out well.

Actually, Ms. Eaglesfan had to work, but we went to our friend's house for a late night Thanksgiving and we did eat Cajun Style Fried Turkey

I agree it is delicious.
