Dual Roles in the NFL
With the dismissal of Butch Davis, I started thinking about the decline in the number of coaches who also hold the title of GM (or an equivalent title). Look at some of the coaches who has been fired and/or stripped of a title in the last few years.
Holmgren Davis Wannstedt Coughlin (Jacksonville) Dan Reeves Now there are some success stories of course Shanahan Reid Sherman However none of these guys have won a Super Bowl recently. It just seems like the whole idea of having one guy running the WHOLE operation, all the rage a few years ago, is becoming more and more undesirable in the NFL. |

Belichick pretty much runs the whole thing as far as final say.

He leans pretty heavily on Pioli to run the scouting and choose players, though. Those two work really well as a team.

Which is THE formula for success. One guy can't do it, and two guys that won't work together will fail in the long run. |

I may be wrong but Jerry Jones holds the titles of Owner, President and General Manager. |
