Star Wars: KOTOR
I've been on a Star Wars kick recently with the release of the DVDs. I'm thinking of firing up Star Wars: KOTOR, which has sat on my shelf after a brief introduction when I bought it. From those who have played it: Which way is more fun - to play on the Dark Side or try to avoid the temptation of the Dark Side?

Both sides are fun, comes down to personal preference I think... I prefered the dark side, although I played the light side first.

Played 3 ways. Light, Dark, Middle. The game has enough differences that all 3 were enjoyable to play.

I believe the dark side path unlocks Wookie sex.

Go Dark Side.
Trying to remember, the part where you settle the family dispute or something along those lines(been too long), was the only time I've ever felt guilty about something I did in a video game. |

I played on the Light Side. For those who've followed the Dark Path - does the game provide enough in the way of rewards to make it worthwhile?

just (almost) finshed it.
liked it very much. played light side - I cannot play evil characters in video games; too much guilt.

In Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, I really enjoyed luring everyone into an enclosed area and then releasing as many carnivores as possible. Their panicked screams thrilled me.
Perhaps I am more of a Dark Side kind of guy. |

Sadly, Im going to agree- I find it impossible to play the dark side in Star Wars- its so damn well written that I feel evil. |

If you play the Light Side, do they make it tempting to go over to the Dark Side?

truthfully ? yeah. I definitely used dark side powers- but I used them benevolently. They were far cooler than any light side powers... Force lightning- my all time favorite... |

Definitely. I played my first time through trying to be as good as possible, and I don't want to give anything away, but I was tempted to go to the darkside several times later in the game. I played the Darkside through a 2nd time, and had more fun playing the darkside. |

After finishing the game as a light side jedi and then again as dark, it seem that the game offers a more fullfilling experience for the light side IMHO.
KOTOR2 is supposed to have an even better dark side experience for all you Darth FOFC types. Can't wait... |

The thing that ruins dark side for me is the badly-written reactions of some of the other characters. You can slaughter dozens of innocents in front of them, tell them repeatedly that you intend to murder and betray them, and all they'll come back with is "hey, if you keep talking like that, we might start to suspect you're leaning towards the dark side."

I preferred playing light side, but one thing I can say for sure is that dark side is a lot easier to play and win.

Well, fired it up last night and have stuck to the light side so far. One thing I don't like is the D&D style of fighting where you don't aim the gun or fire it yourself.

Yep. I'm just not usually an RPGer. It doesn't ruin the game by any stretch, but I guess I'd like to feel more in control.

Problem is that it would be hard to be more in control of the fighting with a party. Battles, IMO, would get tedious. Especially when you are trying to get to the more fun parts (ie, the story).
