I’m With Stupid #96

I’m With Stupid #95

I like doing themes. This one will be a Trivia Pursuit theme, with some "besides/other than" exceptions that have been a part of some past IWS. Good luck, everyone.

The Questions

1. GEOGRAPHY: Name a former British colony/protectorate other than North American countries.

2. ENTERTAINMENT: Carrying over from ML's IWS, name a movie in which Jim Carrey got Oscar buzz.

3. HISTORY: Name an American president from the latter half of the 19th century--besides Lincoln.

4. ARTS & LITERATURE: Name a living Pulitzer Prize winning novelist.

5. SCIENCE: Name a world-reknowned scientist, besides Einstein or Newton.

6. SPORTS & LEISURE: Name a kicker from a 2005 NFL playoff team, other than Doug Brien.

The Rules

The rules are the same as previous FOFC “I’m With Stupid" Contests, as set forth by the game’s beloved founding fathers.

The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. Highest score wins.

No collaborating in any way. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by e-mail or in any other way with other potential contestants.

All determinations of "matches" and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this round of the game. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing. My decisions are final and inarguable.

Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However...

Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask "name a color of the rainbow," and you and four other people responded "black" - you get five points, period, even if it is not technically a correct answer to the question.

PM your answers to me, Chief Rum. Deadline is 11:59 pm PT on Thursday.

That's why you're in college.

I meant for this one to be tough. Time to test "stupid".

It's coming along good so far, but not surprisingly, the more difficult questions are probably cutting intot he number of entries.

Personally, I would think of that as an opportunity--less competition, means it's more likely you could win.

So take a little time (Google is your friend, if you need it), and send me some more entries. The deadline is late night Thursday.

Last day bump. The technical deadline is at midnight tonight (PDT), although I probably won't be able to put the spreadsheet together until Friday night (and will take entries up until that point).

Tonight, though, is the concrete preliminary deadline.

I have gotten a lot more entries, but it's still a good 10-15 less than usual, so your chances are higher of taking this one, even if it's more difficult. Give it a shot, if you're brave enough.

32 now. Can we get to 40?

Technically, the deadline is a couple hours away, but as I said earlier today, I will not be able to put the spreadsheet together until Friday night (around 7 p.m. PDT or so), so there is still another day you can get your answers in.

Surely the rest of you aren't afraid some tough questions?
