OT: The 4th annual Chan Ho Park blows thread

In the absence of HFP (has anyone heard from him lately?), here we go.

During the regular season, Chan Ho's line for games he pitches in the majors will be put into this thread.

For competitive reasons, people are allowed to post what they think CHP's final, end of year, major league totals will be. The closest guess wins the admiration and/or scorn of the other entrants.

Have fun!

This could be a short thread. From Peter Gammons' column today:

The Rangers have been given clearance by ownership to eat Chan Ho Park's contract, if they decide he can't help them this season. That's $14.72 million for 2005 and $15.99 million for 2006.

My prediction is the Braves will sign him sometime in July, and by September he'll be the ace of the staff. Just cause. God I hate Leo Mazzone.

This thread is about as legitimate as someone other than SD posting an "Alright Boyz..." thread.

This is wrong on so many levels. Well OK, just one level, but it's still WRONG!

On a seperate, but highly related note, has anyone heard from HornedFrogPurple? His last visit appears to be back in the middle of January. He was a pretty regular visitor and poster. Did Hattrick take him over in a Matrix-esque fashion?

It is with great reluctance that I continue posting in this thread absent HFP, but....

Chan Ho Park was charged with four earned runs in 5 2/3 innings tonight against the Royals.

A pair of home runs prevented Park from lowering his ERA, but he still did OK tonight. He gave up six hits, walked one and struck out three. Mar. 25 - 12:38 am et

Chan Ho Park surrendered six runs and eight hits in five innings today against the Padres.

With Pedro Astacio's groin a factor and Ricardo Rodriguez still not showing a lot of consistency, the Rangers have probably ruled out giving up on Park before the start of the season. He won't have a lot of job security, but he should open up as a the Rangers' fourth starter. Mar. 29 - 9:43 pm et

From cnnsi. . .

The seven players to watch, guys who could breakout:

6. Chan Ho Park, RHP, Rangers

Yes, he's this close to going down in history as the worst free-agent signing of all time. But Park has impressed Texas with a much tougher, more confident attitude this spring. He won't be the No. 1 pitcher the Rangers expected, but he looks good enough to contribute about 12 wins -- unless he folds in the face of adversity again.

If you pitched like Chan Ho, wouldn't that be a moral victory?

Not quite, but you'd probably be number three behind Lima Time and Wunderkind Space Cadet Zack.

EDIT: That said, I'd rather have Brian "Trade Bait" Anderson, Runelvys "Tommy John" Hernandez, and Denny "My two claims to 'fame' are that I'm Pedro's cousin and I was traded for Jason Grimsley" Bautista in my rotation because at least there's some upside there since the former might in a crazy universe get us something of value while the latter two are young.

The Rangers looked at Chan Ho Park's improved control as well as Park's health, his improved sinker and his overall spring demeanor and have decided that his spot on the Rangers is no longer in imminent danger. Park makes his first start of the season tonight in Seattle.

Now people, we can't let HFP's absence allow us to try and deny the suck-i-tude that is Chan Ho Park. You can't look away.

That being said, not a bad night for Can't Throw.

I can't believe I haven't made a prediction about my least favorite pitcher on my favorite team! Chan Chan Chan........You made us think you remembered how to pitch for about 5 or 6 innings tonight, but even then still gave up the HR to FIGGINS!!!!

Anyway, I think Orel can work minor miracles, so Chan might actually have something close to a respectable year, especially if he remembers that the sinker works: (I still think he'll pull something though, and miss a bunch of time)

He's so misunderstood. Look at that pitching stat line and tell me it's not artwork. There's 4 4s in the middle.. that has to be symbolism for something. He wants a challenge. Any regular Joe can pitch well, Chan wants to make his stats stand out.

wow, our hero really stuck it to the Yankees today. Game is not over, but he is out, and more than likely will get the win, since the score is 10-1 in the 8th. Maybe "The Boss" will make a trade to take another high priced contract off of the Rangers hands...
