FOFC PokerStars every other week tourney (5/1/2005)

Hello all,

The tourney has once again been setup for this coming Sunday. We've had good turnout the last several events, so hopefully we can keep the momentum going! Also, since the cartman bounty has gone unclaimed, it will be offered again for this event. As a refresher, to claim the cartman bounty, at least 9 people must enter, and you must knock me out of the tourney before we reach the final three. If you do so, and you do finish in the final three, I pay $10 for a 3rd place finish, $15 for 2nd, and $25 if you win.

Code:
Tourney ID: 7329639 FOFC Colossal Squid #23 NLHE $11 Sunday, May 1st 2005 21:00 ET password: newpope

front page bump...

I might miss the start of the tourney. My aunt is throwing my uncle a suprise 60th b-day party on Sunday. Since I'm the relative that lives closes to them, my house was picked as the staging area. So starting tomorrow night, the folks start arriving. I'm going to have at least 15 people staying here this weekend. It's gonna look like Jonestown or Mt. Carmel around here, with people sleeping all over the place.

I have a question about Neteller...just figured this was as good a place as any to use it. Should you use the direct bank transfer, or the Instacash. What are the drawbacks of doing the Instacash from your bank so you can play right away?

An insane 8% transfer fee is the problem with instacash.

No, once you link to your checking acount(just like paypal I believe for those that use it... or ING Direct which I use) transfers do not cost any money. They are not instantaneous either, they can take a few business days to move money between checking and neteller. Once in neteller, moving into an existing poker account is also free, and instantaneous.

i did not win

i think i got knocked out in two hands. Had 66 and after calling a smallish raise the flop comes up A63 or something like that. I raised the 150 bet to 300 which was called. Q shows up on the turn i raise the 200 bet to 400 which is promptly raised all-in. I call with my three sixes and get shown three queens. Done

probably needed to raise more on the flop

Yeah, McSweeny ran into a tough beat. It's hard to lay down three of a kind in the spot with a board pair; 99 times out of 100 that hand is his.

I pulled the upset victory. I still want to know what indoorsoccersim had during the cartman bounty hand. I had a gutshot straight with 9To but I couldn't pull the trigger on a 600 chip bet. I'm convinced he had a draw and was just pushing us around, because he had a big early lead and pushed us all around for a while.

For the first time in my life, I was able to remain patient long enough to get some cards and catch up. Who would have know that patience and luck were the keys to poker?

Let me get home, and I will double check, but I had a few Pocket Aces and Pocket Kings, and those are generally the only things that prompt the 600 chip bet from me. Although I was trying to bully one time and got called on it.

Nah ... that's what I was HOPING you had. I was 50/50 on whether you were working on a draw or if you had a J. Without a pair, I just couldn't push. Glad I'm didn't.

D'oh, I knew there was something I was forgetting to do on Sunday afternoon, and now I know what that was. Unregister...

Since I never played, you didn't really knock me out, you just took the last of my stack left after being blinded to death.

so... no bounty for you. Bounties aren't just given, they have to be earned...

I don't know ... you did actually win a hand. It's not like we steamrolled you. Not completely.
