if at the start of the season if you was to have told me that the royals would be 3 games behind the yankees 1 month into the season, i would have thought things were going pretty well for the royals

The only thing souring my nightly enjoyment of watching the Yankees look so bad is the realization that in 2 months, they'll probably be over .500 and back in contention. Think about it. The Orioles will likely not keep up the pace they're on, nor will the Blue Jays, and the Yankees and Sox have enough to hang around .500 that this division could be had with 85-88 wins when it's all said and done.

The only shot anyone has of keeping the Yankees out of it is if the Orioles continue to have a magical season from out of nowhere, or the Sox get things together with their starters amd make a move. Otherwise, I think NY has enough to at least stay within reach. I hope it falls apart like a cheap suit, but I just don't see it happening. I also hope I'm eating these words by August 30...

How about TB taking 3 of 4 from the Yanks, dropping them into a tie for last place with TB? Wow. I hope this won't be the series we look back at as the turning point, where they suddenly turn it around.

MLB observation: The Cubs suck...

The burden of high expectations is just a killer. I was much happier when I counted on nothing more than a sunny afternoon in front of WGN with some peanuts.

I dunno, I kinda hope this is the series we look back at as the turning point, where the Devil Rays suddenly turn it around.

Not last night. Although King got screwed on that 0-2 pitch. He just let it get to him, and things got out of hand from there.

Yeah that was a bit unfortunate. The bullpen as a whole has had some issues lately. I honestly didn't think they would miss Calero and Kline as much as they do. Once Eldred and Izzy get back they will be in better shape. I am hoping Journell can get on track too. Until then the end of each Cards game could get a bit interesting.

@^@#%$*!!!! Just when I had tricked my mind into believing that their season was officially over you had to come remind me of this!!!

We're headed to the park tomorrow to see them vs. the Dodgers. I think I'd rather stay home with my kid.

You Cardinal fans get out of this thread. This is a place for lamentation and talking about how bad teams suck.

The thing that sours my nightly enjoyment of it is that I can't keep from seeing it splattered across the front of espn.com. Fuck 'em- they're just another team with pitching problems because they manage their $200M payroll as well as any other team manages a $50M payroll.

Just caught the last couple of innings of the Cubs game on WGN, and wow. That was rough. The Cubs really are doomed...DOOMED!

The ups and downs this season are just really tough, and it's not even thirty games in. They do something amazing to come back or get the lead, then find a way to blow it. Now, I don't think God cares much about sports, but if he has allowed some sort of cosmic force to work, then that force is undoubtedly anti-Cub.
