Seems a bit far fetched - not to mention completely off-the-wagon barmy.

I do see value in keeping kid's interests and not overwhelming them but c'mon! come things just take more than 200 pages.

Jeez.

"This bill is really the epitome of micromanagement," said Assemblyman Keith Richman, R-Northridge. "(It's) absolutely ridiculous."

I agree with that quote.

"California schools are teaching kids with the same kinds of massive books that were used generations ago, though the world has changed significantly, Goldberg said."

Yes, changed in worst....in few year worldwide teachers will study for they students, so the young kids will have a lot of free time to spend instead studing....

BTW why not 10 books of 20 pages each....It will seem much more easier (and much more money to spend)...

Somehow this thing has already happened here in italy. Books for pre-Highschool classes has been divided in four - five volumes with much more pics and less notions. Sometimes this happen also to highschool books.....that's was done to make things easier....

All I know is that the new low education standards make it easier for my kids to be considered geniuses.

why not just take the freakin books they are teaching with now and rip out the pages. They can then staple them together and have as many little books as they want. Seems about as good of an idea as this.

Do they need smaller books for their smaller hands?

I guess I shouldn't mention that when I was in Milano, we shared the office with Letizia Moratti...
