The official 4th of July holiday weekend thread
Hello all,
Just thought I'd do the official kick off for the party weekend. I am leaving in the morning for a camping trip in northern New Mexico that will last until the 10th. It is my first vacation in three years, but most people could successfully argue that my job is basically a long, paid vacation. When I return to the wired world, I will be another year older. I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!

I plan to do some reading, drinking, swimming, board gaming, drinking, watching movies, going to bars and restaurants, drinking, and probably working on some Werewolf stuff, in some order.

Not doing much of anything. We need to save our money for our trip to Hawaii in 3 weeks (from TODAY!). Mowing the lawn, definitely. Wife's parents are coming Saturday night. Highlight of the weekend (besides spending time with the family, of course) will be going CD shopping with my father-in-law.
I do hate it when July 4th is on a Monday. Kids are going to want to stay up to see the fireworks, meaning we won't get them into bed until well past 10pm, and I usually like to relax the night before the work week begins. But oh well.

My brother is visiting us with his 10 year old, and the most energetic 4 year old on the planet.
Can I come stay at one of your houses?

I'll have 2 kids, 5 dogs, a cat, and in-laws. Run for the hills!

we're going to visit my parents and going to see the fireworks in my hometown, which are done on the 3rd instead of the 4th. It'll be a short weekend, we're leaving saturday and returning monday. The fireworks will be fun, but the rest of the trip I'm not particularly looking forward to.

Boy, I feel you there. I would like to take Tuesday off but the workload is just too heavy. Enjoy your Hawaii trip...something to look forward too anyway. |

My colleague convinced me to take call for him since my wife has to work anyway. Hopefully, it should be a quiet call.

On an anniversary trip with my wife, as we were married on July 3 last year, and were engaged July 4 the year before.

Change of plans...radii decided he didn't feel like doing so much driving in one weekend and wanted a quiet long weekend just for us, so we cancelled the trip (thanks much in part to my fractured wrist - got quite a bit of sympathy and understanding). I spent a couple hours at the pool with the kiddo - got to work on my tan which was nice - and we are heading to Stone Mountain in the next half hour or so to picnic, watch the laser show and fireworks. Should be a fun night Tomorrow night will be more fireworks with my parents, and a relaxing day Sunday... Happy 4th everyone! |
