Is Big Brother Really Live?
On its first show, Big Brother 6 showed some "highlights" at the end of how exciting the season will be. Example, someone finds a secret door to another room. But . . wait . . . they constantly claim the show is live ("Tune in live on Tuesday or with our 24 hour webcast"). How can the show be live if they show highlights from future events? Is the wool being pulled over our eyes? Has this ever been brought up before with the show? I demand answers.

They only do one live show a week. The other two episodes each week are full of "highlights" from the previous few days.
For example, they had been living in the house for several days at this point when the premiere aired, so they were able to edit a first episode and have teasers that happened a few days into their stay. Since my confidentiality agreement expired with the airing of the first episode, I can now safely say this was the 2nd year in a row that I made it to the semifinal interviews, only to be passed over for a bunch of 'roided up morons. Although I can admit I'm glad I'm not in there with these people, I'd probably vote myself out to get away from them - I see no compelling characters this season and *hopefully* will have the willpower to execute my protest of the season.

Hey, thanks. I agree. They use to include some older people, less fit, etc. for flavor and interesting personality interaction. But this year they said to heck with it. Now, it's only young, tan, fit, and obnoxious.

Yeah, but that doesn't answer the question for this particular episode, what was supposed to be the first. I didn't see it, but I did happen to see the end, and had the same thought as VfP. I assume this was just like the previous season openers of Big Brother - since it was the first episode, it showed them entering the house for the first time, live. So if that's the case, how can they have highlights of things that supposedly haven't happened yet? They didn't have a "previous few days" to pull tape from, did they? I understand that later episodes will be highlight shows, but by then they'll have days and weeks of taping to pull from. Last night, AFAIK, was supposed to capture the first hour in the house. But maybe that's not what happened. That show sucks, anyway. The problem with it is that it can't be as outrageous asthe European versions, so it just comes off as boring without the nudity and sex. We watched the first couple of seasons off and on, but I haven't seen it in a few years. I heard Julie Chen was so desperate to resurrect her career, she married the head of CBS. Is that true? If so, and she still can't shake the stigma of being the Bog Brother Host...her career is truly in the can. At one point, she was an up-and-coming, serious newswoman. Uh...bad choice, Julie.

Nice to see that "gruff firefighter" has apparently now become a mandatory reality TV character, along with "airhead blonde bimbo", "flamboyant gay guy" and "bitchy minority woman".

I didn't see anything that suggested that this eppisode was live. They usually have the word "live" in the upper left corner. Also, we were told that the surf board challenge lasted over 2 hours.

I was thinking the same thing. He's not even the first firefighter on the show.

This show is obviously produced by the Ministry of Entertainment.
Normally, my wife and I compromise on what television we watch. I can't handle this show at all, so she has to tape it. |

Im sure they're trying to go more with the "hot people" kinda thing so they can try to get closer to how BB is in other countries, where it gets watched more, thanks to everyone always having sex on there..

This is just the wrong kind of show for American television. It's just no fun if you know they're going to cut out anything remotely interesting. Our Ministry of Intelligence has determined that the female breast is a greater threat to our national security than Al Qaeda itself. |

Voted for Kaysar to return. I can't stand Ivette and her Cappy this and Cappy that.
I know I'm not the only one watching this. Janelle is hot hot hot. |

Okay, I am here, go blame it on my country. I know you all 'owe' this to Dutch media millionair John de Mol. At least he isn't drawing away all the American tv personalities from all the channels to one new channel, unlike he's doing in his homeland. And of course the new Big Brother show overhere will hardly be watched, the original is always better than the sequal...

My wife likes this show for some reason, but even so, we've only seen about half the episodes. She missed it last night. So Kaysar got voted out and now they're letting America vote someone back in? Kaysar's the only intelligent person I've seen on that show so far.
Oh, and that "luxury prize" the other night - which was nothing more than a 15 minute commercial for Four Brothers - was the most shameful product placement ad I've ever seen. That made American Idol's Ford commercials look understated by comparison. My gag reflect was working overtime the other night.

This reeks so bad of a setup to get Crappy back in the house. I think Kaysar has enough net support to to win the vote, but if it was designed to get Eric back in the house, it really won't matter.... pretty stupid if you ask me.

I think its pretty much a no-brainer that Eric will get back in over Kaysar and Michael (and what the heck happened with Ashlea (sp?) breaking the rules and thus not getting a chance to come back?
TheLionKing, Julie Chen made a point of saying to each voted out houseguest that it was a "Summer Of Surprises" and that anything could happen. So it was a pretty big hint that one or more of them would be allowed back into the House. So while CBS is probably hoping its Eric that comes back, it was planned from the beginning to let someone back in. CBS has to be overjoyed with who has been winning the Head of Households this year. Eric, then Keysar, then Maggie, now Howie. Maggic should watch out the last two Head of Households got voted out the next week. Should be interesting to see if Howie lives up to his promise not to put Maggie up on the block this week. It should be a fun week seeing them all worry about who may or may not come back to the house. I just hope James gets voted out this week, he's been annoying beyond belief and has now betrayed everyone in the house at least once now. |
