Group pickets Rockstar over GTA:SA, releases absurd demands

Heh. Jack Thompson apparently organized the group "Peaceoholics" to picket the Rockstar HQ, and release some absurd demands, especially since R*'s next game is called Bully. Here it is folks, read em and laugh or weep.

Peaceoholics List of Demands for Rock Star Games

# Not to release Bully under any circumstances
# Volunteer to sell its violent and sexually explicit games in adult video stores only.
# Let parents return Grand Theft Auto for a full refund until they do a national awareness campaign to educate parents of content and possible effects.
# Create a fund for victims of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and car-jackings, etc.
# Make a national apology for misleading and lying to children, parents, and legislators about their intentions and causing insurance premiums to sky rocket.
# Give a written response within five business days of receipt of these demands.

Foz's list of Demands for Peaceoholics

# Not to show their face in public ever again
# Volunteer to appear in Tiajuna Donkey shows.
# Let gamers point and laugh at them until they grow a brain
# Create a fund for vasectomies for all males in the group, so they won't breed.
# Make a national apology for being clueless tools of a wacko lawyer
# Give a written apology for being dumb clueless fucks.

Ok, I don't like GTA, don't approve of a lot of the content, but this is insanely absurd.

If the parents had any amount of intelligence they wouldn't have bought this game for their kids anyways. Then we wouldn't have this problem as only "mature" people would be playing it.

At the same time, do these picketers realize that they're helping to make this the hottest game out there right now?

If you don't like it, keep your wallet in your pocket.

My favorite part is the "insurance premiums to skyrocket". I'm sure GTA is what causes that...

If a couple of GTA:SA fans went round and shot all the protestors, that would make a point or be really ironic, or something.

This is great publicity for Bully. I'm gonna get that game. I was watching MSNBC or G4TechTV during lunch this week and saw the protestors. Funny stuff. They were saying stuff like "Adults won't buy this game, only kids!" Consider me a 32 year old kid then.

I wish more parents would fucking take responsibility for their children. Then jackholes like this guy wouldn't get the traction/attention that he does.

I was in Blockbuster a few years ago and the 11 or 12 year old in front of me had a copy of GTA:SA. He's standing in line with his mom and his mom asks him what the game is about and the kid says "oh you get to drive around this city. It's fun."

I waited a few seconds, then told the mom "Ma'am, it's also rated "M" for mature. I don't let my 14 year old play it because of the violence and sexual content. You can look at the front of the box and it gives you the ratini of the game and why it's rated the way it is."

The look she gave her kid was priceless. And I went home and played GTA:SA after the kids went to bed.

Well said. There are times when it crosses the boundaries of personal responsibility - when they sell the game to minors, for example. In this case however, this is nothing more than a moral minority proving themselves to be grade A asshats.

Hmm. When I was 11 or 12 and I was standing in line with a game and my mom would ask me what the game was about, my response would probably be along the lines of:

"You play as this plumber guy fighting an ape! It's fun!"

or

"You play as this frog trying to cross ther street! It's fun!"

or

"You deliver newspapers! It's fun!"

Boy have times changed.

In the next GTA game, they should add some protestors to the street population. That way you could drive around and run them over, or shoot them.

I hope somebody from EA was listening to this and lets Wright know so he can file a slander suit immediately. That might shut the asshole up.
