A cheap laptop? What are portable DVD players going for? You could probably find a laptop for around $400.

I got 7" widescreen portable DVD players for my kids at Circuit City on Black Friday for $80 (about $100 with a $20 mail-in rebate).

It was a no-name brand, and as far as I could tell there was no skipping or distortion. The picture looked pretty good (we watched the first few minutes of Ice Age), but we didn't watch it for long. They're currently wrapped and ready to go under the tree. I think it was a Minitek.
