Which leads to the question of whether we want to go stats or "value" - Palmer is stats-worthy, but...

I agree. Manning is the best player on the best team in the league. And he's pretty much the offensive coordinator. There's no question he gets the nod here.

As much as I love Drew, there's just no way he's a candidate, IMO.

Anyone have an issue with listing Peyton Manning as our QB? (we can always revisit)

I think Carson Palmer is a better choice here...

I don't know, I think you might have to consider Larry Johson and possibly Edge.

I think Alexander is a lock, but I could see arguments for any of the other guys for that second spot.

Tomlinson has more touchdowns, but Barber has more rushing yards and receiving yards. And I think that he is more important to his team. I don't want to hold it against LT that he has a great QB and TE on his team, but Barber has been doing a lot of work on his own, despite the sudden love fest for Eli Manning.

Also, while I think that touchdowns are not an irrelevant stat, they are not as big of a deal, to me, as rushing yards. A coach who likes to put in a big back at the goal line or throw fades from the two yard line instead of running up the gut can affect that.

So, Barber gets my vote over LT.

Tiki and LT have comparable receving stats. Tiki has the edge in rushing yardage and YPC, while LT has double the TDs (17 to 8).

I'm not ready to annoint Johnson yet, although statistically he's up there. I think Edge is a notch below Barber and LT.

I don't. Edge and Johnson are a slight cut below based on just this season's performance.

Maybe if Johnson got a whole season starting it would be different. Edge has been a grinder and just isn't as explosive as the others. Still good though.

FWIW.

Most suprising thing to me--Ruben Droughns is a 1,000 yard back after 14 games with Cleveland. I had no idea anyone playing for Cleveland was any good this year.

WR?

I think Steve Smith's a no brainer. I see Holt a lot and he's a legitimate candidate. Fitz has been remarkable for the Cardinals.

I'd eliminate James first, but I think there is something to be said for his durability and reliability.

I'm not ready to give up Johnson yet, though. I think he's probably been the league MVP over the second half of the season. He's has fewer carries than the other guys, but is right up there in terms of yards and touchdowns. He has 7 straight 100 yard games, and 8 on the season (Tiki has 7 on the season, Tomlinson has 5). At the very least, he belongs in the discussion.

You have to have Steve Smith as the top wideout and then it could be Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison, or even Santana Moss.

I could live with Chad Johnson over Holt, but not Galloway (who came out fast but faded) or Moss (very good season, but not in Torry's class IMO). Harrison is a tough call for me.

Antonio Gates is obvious, but Chris Cooley has rather quietly had a killer season.

Cooley has been good but in one less game Gates has 18 more receptions for 300 more yards and 3 more TDs.

T = Willie Roaf. Consistantly good, and helped Mr. Johnson get to 1000 yards in less than a full season.

Willie's good, but should a guy who missed close to half the season make an all-pro team?
