OT - Fight Club Special Edition DVD
Anyone know where I can find it, fairly cheap (25-30)?
They stopped production last August, and the cheapest I've found it lately is $40 at amazon. Damn Fox, can't they do anything right. They had a copy at my blockbuster, but someone bought it for like 10 with their damn buy pre-rented movie deal. If only I had known back then that I couldn't find it anywhere. |

I've looked at them, but they tend to shoot up to about $50 at the last hour.

I just did a search at the local CD/DVD specialist and found the 1-disc Special Edition selling for $19.99. Here's the store: Silver Platters

Yeah, that one is everywhere, but sadly it is missing the audio commentaries/deleted scenes and various other extras of the rare 2 disc version. If I'm going to get a DVD, it better be one that goes all out. Otherwise, same movie.
Thanks though Last edited by Easy Mac : 02-18-2003 at 02:01 AM. |

Wow, I didn't realize some DVD special editions are already rare and worth a lot. I used to own the Fight Club Special Edition. The commentary is pretty good on that one, I believe there was more than one commentary too. If you enjoy "The Making of" clips in some special editions, there are some great ones in the Fight Club set, in particular the final scene where he shoots himself. It's a quick two second shot but it took some effort to make. I would try some pawn shops or used book/cd stores. Occasionally, you can find some good DVDs that slip by people.

This disc rocks. I would have never picked out the scenes where Brad Pitt / Tyler Durden "flashes" for a single frame (in the hospital, on the street talking to Marla), which is simply brilliant filmmaking. Also would have never known Tyler was one of the "waiters" in the hotel commercial. The analysis of the panning scene where Narrator is discussing furniture for his condo...man, good stuff.
BTW, I used to have Spinal Tap Criterion Collection and couldn't believe it was selling on ebay for $100-$200. My wife convinced me to sell. JMS |

Wow. Great news for me. I have both the Fight Club double set AND the Spinal Tap CC. I may have to get rid of those on Ebay for some cash.
