NCAA "Pick 5" - Year 2
I ran this last year, and it was pretty fun... For those of you who are new, or don't remember, here's how it works:
You pick five teams from this year's NCAA Tournament field. Points are awarded based on how far each of your teams advance, with bonus points given based on the team's seed. You get one point for winning in the first round, 2 for the second, 3 for the regional semis, 4 for the regional finals, 5 for the national semifinal, and 6 for the national championship. Then, for each game your team wins, you get points that match the number of seed they are. For example, say you picked North Carolina (a No. 1 seed), and they advanced to the Final Four. You would get: (1+1) + (2+1) + (3+1) + (4+1) = 14 points for selecting the Tar Heels. Or, if you pick Belmont, and they win 2 games, they would get (15+1) + (15+2) = 33 points. As you can see, a well placed 10+ seeded team notching an upset or two is just as valuable as a 1 or 2 seed going to the Final 4. Good luck, everyone! Any questions, just post them here. Post your picks here, too. If you want to change your picks, just edit your post. Any posts with an edit time of after Thursday, noon Eastern will be ruled ineligible. Also, I apologize in advance, but I will be out of town from March 16th until March 24th... but I will have my laptop, so I may be able to update the scores periodically, but the updates won't be quite as regular as they were last year. The opening round game does not count, for purposes of this game. 2006 champ: TazFTW, 83 points Last season, Taz had it locked up by the Final 4 by nailing 4 of the Final 8 schools (Texas, UCLA, UConn, LSU), and getting #4 seed Boston College to the Sweet 16. Here are a list of teams, broken down by seeds, for your convenience: No. 1 seeds Florida Kansas North Carolina Ohio State No. 2 seeds Georgetown Memphis UCLA Wisconsin No. 3 seeds Oregon Pittsburgh Texas A&M Washington State No. 4 seeds Maryland Southern Illinois Texas Virginia No. 5 seeds Butler Southern Cal Tennessee Virginia Tech No. 6 seeds Duke Louisville Notre Dame Vanderbilt No. 7 seeds Boston College Indiana Nevada UNLV No. 8 seeds Arizona Brigham Young Kentucky Marquette No. 9 seeds Michigan State Purdue Villanova Xavier No. 10 seeds Creighton Georgia Tech Gonzaga Texas Tech No. 11 seeds George Washington Stanford Virginia Commonwealth Winthrop No. 12 seeds Arkansas Illinois Long Beach State Old Dominion No. 13 seeds Albany Davidson Holy Cross New Mexico State No. 14 seeds Miami Oral Roberts Pennsylvania Wright State No. 15 seeds Belmont North Texas Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Weber State No. 16 seeds Central Connecticut State Eastern Kentucky Florida A&M Jackson State Niagara

Once you're done, I'd be curious to see a pivot table of how many times each team was selected.

No major thing - if you know how to do pivot tables it should be easy, if you don't, it might not be so easy

Tried to upload the spreadsheet to Google, but it has a formatting problem thanks to all the formulas, I guess.
Here are the most popular teams taken, though (there are 35 players total): Georgetown/Texas - 15 Texas A&M - 14 Florida - 13 UCLA - 12 Ohio St./UNC - 8 Tennessee/Louisville - 7 Surprising least popular teams: #1's - Kansas, 2 #2's - Memphis, 1, Wisconsin, 2 #3's - Wash. St., 1 #5's - Butler, 0 KevinNU7 the early crier, with 2 teams out and no points... digamma leads after the first afternoon with 12 points and no lost teams. Anyway, I'll update the scoring in post #2 of the thread in the morning.
