You'll forgive my skepticism? Considering the length of time it's been promised..

It still doesn't sound like career progression will be in the game which equals no buy for me.

Well things have always been promised by the Trunzo's and if you read the first post of the thread they are no longer involved in the game. Andreas now owns the rights to it.

The RPG is the career mode. You will basically be the manager of the gym and have to sign fighters and then control them throughout their career. So career progression is actually the main new addition to TBCB3.

I'm willing to give it a chance, TBCB has always been solid with what it already does, and despite being promised before (or atleast hinted at) I think it's fairly obvious that career aspects are the best step the game can take in moving foward.

Heres to hoping it makes a 2007 release as stated.

I can't help but be skeptical of the 2007 release as well (given the past), but since it's coming from Andreas, I think I can trust it a bit more than the past. Especially considering that all previous promises that went unfullfilled never came from Andreas. And I don't mean to paint Jim Trunzo as some kind of bad guy, but I think he had some....unrealistic assumptions about how fast game development moved.

Andreas is talking first beta in a week or two so while I was skeptical about a 2007 release also this is a good sign.

I think this version will take some serious beta work though since it is going to branch in two different directions. Open mode (which is how we play now) and RPG mode. The RPG mode will be a brand new game from ground up (with exception of the game engine).

There hasn't been a RPG boxing game that has been worth a crap so there really isn't any design modules to follow. Please visit the suggestions thread there and tell Andreas what you want to see in a career management game. He is very good at listening to suggestions. Sabotai has had one of the best suggestions yet as far as grouping fighters. Without Andreas we would have never even gotten the aging into TBCB2.

Jim wasn't a bad guy but the problem was that he wasn't a programmer. He would promise things without talking to the programmer first to see if 1) it was possible or 2) if the programmer (in this case Andreas) was free from other projects.

OOTP is the money maker there and Andreas has pretty much spent 2 straight years working for Markus and SI on it. Now he has some free time and owns the game.

Yeah while i understand the apprehension from people at least try to keep an open mind since this is new management. I love the current TBCB2 but am very interested to see the next incarnation.

I absolutely understand the apprehension .. there has been numerous promises made and broken over the years. But with Andreas taking over the game I feel just fine in backing the new announcement.

In the end it's a small market game but could be bigger with the career mode added in.

I'm excited to hear this. TB has always had a very solid fight engine and just screamed out for this. I'd given up on it ever happening though.

I imagine I'll wait a while though, I can't imagine this release being pretty.

I'm interested in seeing how it plays out. I've found the last two games to be complete bores because of no RPG mode, but will be very interested in picking this up if it looks good.

I am sure there will be some challenges, but I anticipate it being a lot better then some may think out of the gate. We have a strong, if small community over there that brings a great deal of knowledge to the table, and Andreas will be utilizing that. There is a already a long list of things he has been working on and he made a great Choice adding Mike and Chris to the development Team....When all is said and done I am sure it will be worth the wait, as the the game as it is now is very solid.

It sounds good, hopefully it plays out like we'd all wish to see. Does anyone know how much of his time through the end of the year Andreas will have to dedicate to this game?

That's a good question. I think he is pretty freed up until they start in on OOTP2008 but OOTP is definitely still his first priority.

I understand OOTP taking priority, but I think if the game was developed properly into a solid career/RPG game it could have a much larger fan base and be worth full time effort. I believe Arlie had mentioned something about TEW being one, if not their best selling game for GDS and, while I understand there is considerable differences between the two the promoter concept is still there. TBCB could have a similiar following once it broadens its audience, it'd help if it got a headstart on the release of WMMA as well.

Yeah Andreas realizes career mode is a must to expand the fan base. I think it needs a spanish translation also and Andreas is looking into that also.

Good news, i have been waiting for this for a long time, adn with Andreas now being the main guy behind it, i have more trust in the project.

About Spanish translation, it sounds good, as there are tons of Spanish and South American boxing fans, i'll hit Andreas up in case he needs help with that.

So it sounds like Andreas is pretty excited about it, and I think that he has a strong base to work from, as well as a pretty hardcore central group who are committed to it.

On the other hand, it doesn't matter what game, whether it be OOTP, FM, or others, first edition rewrites don't seem to go over as well as the second edition. I would normally wait to see what the second edition has to offer, but I will wait and see what kind of discount is offered for previous buyers.

I like the idea of RPG, but the incorporation could be difficult. ABC's Wide World of Boxing saw loads of playtime on my computer, even with all of its flaws. So this is something that I am certainly looking forward to.

It'll be interesting to see which game gets finished first. I think Adam is planning for a Summer release, I wonder when we could expect TBCB 3?

Either way, I have been looking for a RPG/promoter/manager game for boxing for quite some time so I will definitely give it a look. Especially since it should have a great base/engine with 2 previous versions.

There's certainly enough marketplace for a boxing and MMA sim.

MMA sim would be pretty hot right now given the rise in popularity.

For anyone interested... It's slightly old news (2 weeks ago but I just read it). Can't say I'm exactly surprised but oh well, OOTP is the priority.

TBCB Update
Hi guys, time for an update about TB3. As you might know, we (Markus and I / OOTP Developments) are on our own again. Of course that means that we will have a little bit more workload now. For more info read this please:

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/newsletters/nl0033/
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/newsletters/nl0034/

What does this mean for TB3? Well I fear my tough plan to release a complete first version of the role-playing game before the end of this year will not work out.
So here's the new plan:

* We will release an interims version of Title Bout, called TB 2.5
* TB 2.5 will be $34.99 and it will replace the previous versions of TB
* Owners of TB1 will get a $15 discount so they would have to pay $19.99
* Owners of TB2 will get a $25 discount so they would have to pay $9.99
* Sometime in the future we will release TB 3
* TB 3 will be 34.99 and it will replace the previous versions of TB
* Owners of TB 2.5 will get a $10 discount so they would have to pay 24.99

So if I calculated correctly, the interims version will not cost extra money for those TB2 users who want to buy TB3.

TB 2.5 will provide the following features:

* Direct access to our new online fighter database from inside the game. Just click on "update" and download the latest changes and additions to fighter data, ratings or biography to your "data pool". If you want to add them to any of your boxing universes you can do that with a single mouse click. But it's optional! The changes will be merged into your boxing universe without overwriting stats and record. And the good thing is: this is an ongoing process, and it's for free!
* Our database revisors team did a great job with updating, correcting and completing the fighters database, the venues database and also the referees and announcers! With TB 2.5, you'll get the best database which TB ever provided!
* We've implemented a new overall rating value "0" to split the "1" rating into "0" and "1"
* In TB2, the performance points have been used for the new ranking method. Sometimes the fighters got negative performance points. That's gone now. Performance points and ratings are now separate issues. So we use the perfect ranking and the perfect performance points method in TB 2.5
* You can now assign fighters to as many groups as you want. It's no longer limited to two groups!
* Vista-compatible folder structure: all your data is now saved in "My Documents", so you'll not get in trouble with permissions on your computer
* Added "user notes" to fighter biography page. You can save any notes for each fighter without editing the biography
* New field "valid as of" in rating records
* Completely revamped titles/organization data: organization names may be max. 25 characters long now, unlimited number of titles allowed in a fight
* List of relevant titles of a fight is being displayed on history record screen
* Added second weight field for fighters to enter the weight range
* Split options screen into two screens "Game Options" and "Database Options"
* Added auto scheduler feature "at least x months inactive" to select only fighters who didn't fight at least x months
* I've completely replaced the DirectX-based graphics functions with own code. That fixed a lot of problems like the "black screen bug" and others.
* I plan to add another feature to 2.5 before it's release: the random fighter generator! It will be a new screen where you set some options and with a single mouse click you will create a number of fighters.

I hope you understand why we have to do this step. And hopefully you like the feature list. Please don't underestimate the online database feature: the new and updated fighter ratings, created by the database editors and double-checked by our QA department Chris and Mike, are really top-notch and they will merge into your databases whenever you want that!

I've waiting for career mode/RPG in this series since Title Bout '99. I remember all of the problems the Trunzo's had back at that time with the programmer they contracted with to write it. With the benefit of hindsight, I really wonder now if the developer was Daivd?

I don't think so.

Otherwise we could have custoimzed the fighter's robe & trunks as well as going to the concession stand for drinks.

My clue was when sometime the ref would count to 172.2342218 before declaring a KO. Or the epic "Thrilla with Vanilla", where Allee and Brazier fought valiantly for -21.2319387 rounds.
