Macroguru heading to the land down under...

I am pretty excited....Australia has always been one of the places I have wanted to go...now work is getting me there for a couple of weeks..

I will have one day for site seeing and then my evenings are open..I will be in Sydney for the entire time.

Any suggestions for those who live there or who have been down there.

Thanks,

The Rocks is an historical part of Sydney and has quite a few old pubs. It is just on the southern side of the Harbour Bridge.

There are the tourist attractions of the Harbour Bridge climb and the Skywalk at Sydney Tower. Sydney Tower is also good for getting an overall view of the city.

Darling Harbour is worth a look but is just a tourist haven.

I would suggest catching the ferry to Manly. It is a cheap way of seeing the harbour without going on one of the tourist cruises. The ferry terminal is at Circular Quay - just near the Opera House.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Mrs. Macroguru would be quite upset, and she isn't one I would want to piss off.

Can you find out if women really glow and men actually plunder there?

Well, then you make sure that she knows that her brothel needs to be available 24/7 to meet your needs.

Yeah, there's lots to do and see in Sydney, depending on what you're interested in. I definately also recommend going for a walk through the Rocks, and stopping in at the Phillip's Foot to cook yourself a steak and have a beer or two (or three).

After seeing the Rocks, I'd walk on over to the Opera house and maybe take a walk through to Lady Macquarie's chair, which is the big park directly east of the Opera House (the entrance is about 2 min walk from the Opera House), and gives a great view of the city.

Darling Harbour, which I'm currently gazing down on from my window here at work, is quite pretty and probably worth a look, but yeah, as 21C says, very touristy.

Thanks for the input...If I have some free time, I might be willing to meet up with some FOFCers while I am down there. Only problem is, with the company I work for, we have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol on the road, so I can drink a coke, while you have you beer....

Actually, it didn't used to be, but a few dumb asses acting irresponsibly to airlines, hotel staff and on the road forced the company to take it that way.

You will find out that, ironically enough, they don't serve Foster's in Australia.
