Keyless Entry Front Door

Does anyone know if you can re-program the keyless entry code on a front door, or do you have to buy a whole new door? I know you can change locks on doors, but have no idea about the keyless entry portion...

I would check a website other than FOFC.

I didn't know they make doors like this.

The one that I have on my office door can be re-programmed so I know it is possible. I am thinking of getting one for the house front door.

I am pretty sure if you call Scottie in engineering, he'll be able to fix it in no time for you.

Our fraternity house had one of these types of doors - we would usually reprogram it every 2 months or so.

Haha it's not bitches or anything. I'm moving and the new place had a keyless (as well as keyed) front door. I'll call when I move in, but I figured if it's something I have to buy I might as well do it now. I had no idea these doors existed before either.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5? That's amazing! I've got the same combination on my luggage!

A place I lived during school-- which was just nasty. We didn't have roaches, the roached wouldn't live there-- had "security" doors at the two entrances that were codes 5-2-1 on those old, 5 button lock doors(except they were always propped open as we were too lazy to want to punch the code all the time).

When I got to my most recent job, imagine my surprise when several of the doors to supply rooms etc had the same doors with the same 5-2-1 code.

I am betting MV uses 5-2-1 as well, it seems pretty popular.

I'm sure you can reprogram it. What kind of lock is it? Is it a cipher lock?

One of the guys I used to work with had a cipher lock like we had on our doors at work.

I don't remember. It wasn't one of those button ones that you see in dressing rooms and stuff. It was more like an ATM touchpad. I'm fairly sure you should be able to re-program them... it would be kind of dumb to force someone to get a whole new door.

It sounds like a cipher lock. I'd check with the company and they can probably tell you how to reprogram it.

I've found with most key coded doors (and computer admin passwords) that around 5 times in 10 they're left on the defaults that they came with .... totally undoing the idea of them being secure in the first place

Obviously it is different depending on the company that made the lock, but here is an example manual from a Schlage keyless entry system.

I've got one, and it's certainly programmable.

Yes, we have keyless entry on our door and we have re-programmed it numerous times. If you don't have the manual for the lock check the manufacturers website. What make is it? Maybe I can help you out.
