I never cared much about Halloween as a kid, since I could never get decent costumes. So I grew up not caring about Halloween, and so I'm still that way now. It's a whatever holiday for me. But I do like to see hot women in awesome outfits.

I can assure you I mean you no harm.

Who are you?

Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask.

Well I can see that.

Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.

I love Samhain/Halloween.

But every year it's the same for me since growing out of childhood.

1. Come up with cool costume ideas.

2. Plan the logistics of getting said cool costume together.

3. Realize there's nowhere to go.

4. Realize that even if I did have somewhere to go, it'd just be me by myself in a sea of masqued people.

5. Get drunk, chain-smoke, play video games or some combination of the three instead, reflecting on yet another wasted holiday.

I'm going as a bear. I'm tempted to make it topical by wearing a dress shirt and stealing peoples wallets and purposes and saying that I'm the stock market.

I can't remember if I mentioned this on here already on not, so sry if this is duplicated. It's an odd Halloween for us as my son opted to go to his school's homecoming football game instead of T-or-T this year. Going to the game means we aren't home to hand out candy either, so it's pretty much like this holiday doesn't exist for us this year.

Living out in the country, and being in a neighborhood where I'm the youngest homeowner by about 15 years, means two things. 1) There are very few kids of trick or treat age living out here, and 2) the houses are pretty far apart and off the road, so not really conducive to trick or treating.

I bought a bunch of candy my first year living here, out of habit, and didn't have a single kid come by.

Going out in about 45 minutes with my 11 yr old son. It is his 2nd favorite holiday of the year and he has been so excited all week. Mrs Bucc got him a really nice Darth Vader costume, plus a red lightsaber to add to his collection. Now if I can only get him to walk and not run between houses...

I was trying to think of the last time I put on a costume. Must have been that short toga I wore to a party at a beach house in 1983. That was a good time.

A kid in a toga-ish costume came by a few minutes ago, he had chest hair and could not have been a day under 17. On the plus side he and his friend shared one sack between them, played a guitar, and were very polite and friendly.

Still, you're 17, come on dude.

This is our first year living in the country. We have a huge bowl of candy and no one came by either. I gotta give it all to the kids cuz the wife's butt is getting big and she doesn't need any.

Easily the highlight of all the visitors we had when we were down in Monticello, guy had to be 40 at least. 'Course he also looked waaaaaaay too comfortable walking in the dress & high heels.

At the time my son went out, we hit this house about 7 doors down and he had to stand in line behind 20 kids. They weren't all together, just a natural convergence. Mrs Bucc estimated over 100 kids total and we're in a cluster of houses where most of the neighbors are lights out. Down the street where there are tons of decorations and stuff, I had never seen so many kids out. The weather has been very warm, so it was a nice night to be out.

I'm so jealous. This is our first year in a city and we live in a building with a concierge, etc... and no kids.

My 17-year old went as Barack Obama this year. He'll be 18 in April, so this HAS to be his last year.

My unborn child will not be trick-or-treating in high school, if for no other reason than it is difficult to go beg for candy at other houses when your dad has you handling the door duty at your own.

You say that, but wait until you have a second.

I routinely got sent out with my brother when HE was of trick-or-treating age because my parents didn't want to deal with it. I didn't get the "door duty" until he was too old to be bothered.

The 17-year-old girls generally make up for the 17-year-old guys.

If the guys were smart about it, they'd be finding girls to do the trick-or-treating and splitting the take.

As for my Halloween, I pretty much did the dumbest thing ever. I wore a hockey sweater, brought 7 more hockey sweaters in a bag, and I changed every hour. As I walked through the building, various people would ask either "What team is that?" or "Did you change shirts?"

Yes. Yes, I did.

We had a couple of kids knock on our door yesterday (Nov 1) afternoon and say "Trick or Treat". After looking at them quizzically, they asked if I had any leftover candy and I said "no" as we only had a couple of pieces left over and I was planning on eating them. I know that makes me a bastard but they weren't even dressed up - they were just going apartment to apartment, hoping to score some free candy.

Then, later on in the day, I went to Target and got about $10 of half off candy because I love the four candy holidays and I'll stock up (days after Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter)

Spoken like a true friend.

Being that this is my first Halloween in a house, I figured I'd get trick-or-treaters, as previously, in an apartment, I didn't. I had all these grand plans of handing out full-size candy bars at my house, just like my folks did. Unfortunately, I never got to Costco to get said full-size candy bars. So, I left my porch lights off and had friends over. We ordered pizza, and at about the time I expected the pizza to be arriving, my doorbell rang. It had rang earlier, too, with trick-or-treaters, so I made sure it could be the pizza by looking out my front windows (from the 2nd floor) and saw a car parked outside, so I totally thought it was the pizza. Got downstairs to open the door and found 3 kids (youngin's) with open bags. I think I dropped the s-word and had one of my friends who was still upstairs grab the Tupperware of Tootsie Roll Pops I had, and handed THOSE out to the kids. About 10 minutes later, the pizza came, and some more kids came to my door, so they also got Tootsie Roll Pops. I felt really really bad that was all I had. My mom said I could've given them 50 cents each, or something, and I was like, "No, I didn't want to be THAT person...I could've given them raisins, too, but I don't want my house getting egged!"

Oh well. Next year I'll definitely get to Costco. There are enough kids in this neighborhood that I have no excuse.

Some girl came into work dressed as Sergeant Lincoln Osiris. Who was played by Kirk Lazarus who was portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. She had the dark makeup, the fake hair, everything. It was probably the most realistic costume I had ever seen in person. I was impressed.
