And last year the AFC North and the NFC East and AFC South which was a difficult schedule while the NFC South had an easy one with the AFC West and NFC North.

Woo.. I'll have to try to somehow find tickets for Patriots vs Falcons. I'll likely have to sell a kidney I am sure. Maybe I'll be able to get some shortly after Brady is announced out for another season and Cassel goes to another team.

The Packers and the rest of the NFC North get the NFC West next year plus 2 games vs the Bungles and Browns! Should be a great year to be a Packer fan although you never know which teams will turn it around quick like the Dolphins, Falcons, Jets, Ravens, and Cardinals did this year.
Tough luck for the AFC East to go from playing the 2 West divisions this year to playing the 2 South divisions next year. Won't be an easy road for those teams. Last edited by Jas_lov : 01-02-2009 at 07:43 PM. |

I would assume either the lions will play the steelers on thanksgiving. Or the cowboys vs the chargers. They won't make us watch a lions/browns game. Or a cowboys/raiders.

Both I would guess. Didn't JJ beg/demand the Cowboys have equal say in Thanksgiving games about 7 years ago? Last Steelers Thanksgiving was the Phil Luckett 'tails' game.

How do the Bills play Kansas City again next year? Does the NFL an open in-conference game?

Because the Bills and the Chiefs both were in last place in their division, so they play each other. I think the forumula is: 2 games versus your divisional rivals (6 games) 1 game versus each team from a specific division in the same conference (4 games) 1 game versus a specific division from a different conference (4 games) 1 game versus a team that finished in the same place as you did the previous season, i.e., if you placed 3rd in your division, you play the other 3rd place teams in the other two divisions in the same conference. (2 games) I'm not 100% on this and am too lazy/tired to look it up.

Not both. CBS needs an AFC team on the road for thanksgiving so the options are limited. I still remember the luckett fuck up like it was yesterday |

Interesting how skewed those numbers look, based on the fact that all those teams play Detroit. Tossing out the 3 other NFC North teams, whose totals are more skewed by geting DET twice, Steelers go from the most difficult schedule (based on prior year record) this year to easiest in the league.

That's right. Part of the reason I love the setup is that it creates "accidental" rivalries with certain teams seemingly playing each other ever year. A lot of Pats fan bitch that they play the Colts every single year, but it's really added to the rivalry. Those games are a lot of fun. If two teams own their divisions for a period of time, they just keep playing each other. Last edited by molson : 01-03-2009 at 12:16 PM. |

Hmm. Detoilet isn't that far away from where I live. If that Thanksgiving game ends up materializing I might go with my brother. Better than eating turkey with the family.

The games rotate so since Detroit played Tennessee this year, Detroit gets and NFC team while Dallas will play the AFC game. Dallas - San Diego is a good bet. Based on the current divisional rotation, the Steelers won't play one of those two teams on Thanksgiving but could get the 8 PM game.
