I've been spending a lot of time lately with Tower Defense games. I highly recommend Fieldrunners, 7 Cities, and Geodefense for games in that genre. I spent a lot of hours on Fieldrunners, but I think I actually like Geodefense even more now.
I bought the Oregon Trail remake and it's pretty fun for nostalgia factor the first go through, but I have absolutely no interest in replaying it and I'd have a hard time recommending it. The Bookworm port to the ipod is a pretty nice little program. It's an almost perfect port and the only thing I find really lacking is the dictionary. Bejeweled is another popcap game that translates well. Roguetouch is an awesome port if you're into Rogue-like games. The main app I make use of is Wordweb(free!) which is a really nice dictionary. It's handy and a pretty swank little app. Last edited by Calis : 05-04-2009 at 09:12 PM. |

The ones I actually use regularly:
Pandora - streaming music Last.fm - streaming music Slacker - streaming music Twitterfon - twitter app Wikiamo - makes wikipedia useable Gas Cubby - tracks car mpg's and tube-ups Sportacular - sports scores Grocery IQ - grocery list Wootwatch - the latest deals on woot.com Those are the only ones I use consistently. I have about 12 games, but I haven't played them for weeks, and most of the other apps are more specialzed, once in a blue moon apps. This was typed on my iPod touch. |

If you like bejeweled or games like that, Puzzle Quest is available and brings an RPG element to the classic game.
I really like fieldrunners, but I would like more than the 3 boards they have for it. If you know how to unlock your phone you can add a NES/SNES/GENESIS/GBA emulator and (for games you own) add them to your phone IF I knew more about your interests I could recommend some apps... there is basically an app for anything your interested in.... Marc will we be seeing something from FM on the iPhone in the future?? Last edited by ArlingtonColt : 05-06-2009 at 11:51 PM. Reason: spelling |

I'd love to see FOF on the iPhone. Oh man, that would be sweet. Or the original EHM. Sorry, I gotta go clean up.

Just thought you would like to know that Soccer Manager, a simple sim game which resembles a mini-FM, is only 99 cents this weekend. [iTunes link]

Agreed. If you're a baseball fan you need to have the MLB At Bat app. I'm told eventually they will have all daily games streaming in the app.

I don't have an iPod Touch or an iPhone. I listen to MacBreak Weekly every week and they always have recommendations for Mac-ish apps (some are for Macs, some are for iPhones, iPod Touches). I'd recommend looking through their recommendations, The TWiT Netcast Network with Leo Laporte . Also, The Unofficial Apple Weblog quite often recommends good things: TUAW -- The Unofficial Apple Weblog I keep trying to convince myself it's a good idea to buy an iPhone but then I remember that I have a contract with Verizon until late 2010 and that I could do just fine with an iPod Touch. Then I remember that Apple usually has a Fall iPod event, and I should wait until then. And if I'm going to wait until then, I may as well wait until March when I finish paying off my car and have more expendable income, so that I could potentially get an iPhone then. But then I think that they usually announce new phones in June, so why not wait til then? And if I'm going to wait til then, may as well wait til the end of 2010 so I don't have to pay an early termination fee, plus I get to see the next round of iPod Touches.
Yeah, until my 5th gen iPod "classic" dies, I'm going to be playing that game with myself. /tk

I'm bumping this up to see if any other good apps came out in the last year. Just got a Touch for my 2 month stint in England. Looking at good apps for games, chat (to talk to the Mrs.), and news/sports. thanks.
