semi-auto pilot. I'm helping buckinbranco with lineups and such for a week or so just to see if he can find a way to stay in the league. I have a waiting list of people who can take over if he is not going to be able to stick around, but the #1 person on the list is fine in waiting to see if buckin can stay in the league. None of us are eager in rushing him out the door so to speak

Friday, April 25th, 2025: Big Day with Bat: Hughes 6-6
"Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," Montreal's Joe Hughes told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well."

It definitely turn out well for Hughes today as he collected 6 hits in 6 at-bats against Apex. It turned out well for his team, too, as the Majestics knocked off the Assassins 11-0 at Majestics Stadium.

J. Hughes singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and hit a two-run triple in the 9th.

Hughes is currently batting .317 with 3 home runs and 17 RBIs.

Monday, May 5th, 2025: Number 300 for Tan
"I wasn't trying to hit a homer. I just wanted to make contact."
That's what Tong-sik Tan told reporters after he made baseball history today at Ballpark of Boston. The prolific slugger belted home run #300 in the Boston Settlers 10-2 victory over the Baltimore Charm.

The standout right fielder collected 1 hit in 5 at-bats with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.

"I guess this puts me in baseball's elite," said Tan. "I don't feel any different. I probably should, but I don't. Still, it is a nice achievement. I did get a little excited, didn't I?"

Looking at his all-time stats, Tan has a career .271 average with 1764 hits, 324 doubles, 17 triples, 300 home runs and 1051 RBIs to date. He has scored 893 runs, walked 682 times and stolen 9 bases.

Thursday, May 8th, 2025: Blackmore Rips 3 Homers Against Charm
J.D. Blackmore was sending souvenirs to the sun gods all game long in the Montreal 13-2 triumph over Baltimore, launching not one, not two, but three home runs into the stands. Nobody who was at Majestics Stadium will forget this home run outburst anytime soon.

The Montreal left fielder went 3-3, rung up 8 RBIs and scored 3 runs on his record-setting day.

He told the press corps after his three home run binge, "One homer's good, two's great, three's out of sight. I can't wait until tomorrow's game. I really feel good at the plate."

J. Blackmore hit a two-run home run off J. Chong in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off J. Chong in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off X. Uridge in the 6th and was hit by a pitch in the 7th.

This season Blackmore has hit at a .316 clip with 31 RBIs, 10 home runs and 22 runs scored. He has played in 36 games.

Did you know Alec Linseman has been hit by pitch 650 times coming into this season? That's 1st among active players. Romero 2nd with 627 and Blackmore 3rd with 450.

Monday, May 12th, 2025: 2500th Hit for Linseman
It took quite a few years to do it, but Alec Linseman finally did it. The Settlers shortstop swatted hit #2500 this afternoon at Ballpark of Boston, but still came up short in the victory column. The Napa Valley Winemakers came away with a 4-2 win over Boston. Linseman was 2-for-5 in the loss.

Linseman has put up a career batting average of .293 with 2500 hits, 114 homers and 909 RBIs.

Tuesday, May 13th, 2025: Number 2000 for Colón
José Colón's bat made good contact with the ball as he has many times in his career, but this time it added his name to an elite list of players with 2000 hits. The Hartford right fielder went to the plate 5 times and racked up 2 hits to gain the honor. But the Harpooners couldn't pull off a win -- they fell to the Colorado Rancheros, 8-4.

In his career Colón has accumulated a .344 batting average with 2000 hits. His totals include 379 doubles, 22 triples, 316 home runs, 969 strikeouts, 1081 runs scored, 1093 RBIs and a lifetime .423 OBP.

Hector Romero is the 4th player in FOOL history to reach 500 Home Runs!!

Tuesday, May 13th, 2025: Romero Smashes 500th Homer
500 home runs is a lot of home runs to hit. It's a number that very few players reach. Today Héctor Romero became a member of that exclusive club. He belted it at Rebels Ballpark against the Heroes. But sometimes milestone homers don't win the game. The powerful Chico shortstop got all of the headlines, but New York came away with the victory. They beat the Rebels 7-1.

During the postgame interview he told the press, "It's a big relief to get it over. I tried not to think about it, but it's kind of hard when you have a huge sign on the scoreboard staring at you every time you step up to the plate. The home run was nice, but I would have preferred to win the game."

His batting totals for the game showed 1 hit in 4 at-bats, 1 home run and 1 RBI.

The hardworking and dedicated Romero also said, "I'll celebrate a little with my family tonight but not too much. This is not the last home run I will hit. I think I have a lot baseball left in me and have other goals. I'll get back to work tomorrow."

Romero has a lifetime .321 batting average and .434 on-base percentage in his 2308-game career with 2725 hits and 500 home runs.

Sunday, June 1st, 2025: RL Top Pitcher in May - Hernández
José Hernández has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in May and stole away with the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Rancheros bullpen ace collected 6 saves and 12 strikeouts in 10.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .206 average and posting a 0.00 ERA and a 3-0 record.

In 2025, Hernández has notched 14 saves. In 21 relief appearances, he has 26 strikeouts in 21.1 innings with a 0.42 ERA. His season won-lost mark is 4-0.

Sunday, June 1st, 2025: Quero Picks up CL Monthly Pitching Honor
Emmett Quero took home the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors in May. After all these years playing ball, the 38-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 6-1 for Montreal last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award.

He tacked up a 2.20 ERA in his 8 starts, tossing 57.1 innings and striking out 26.

Checking out his stats for the year, Quero has racked up 9 wins and 3 losses in 15 starts, 2.38 ERA and struck out 70 batters in 109.2 innings.

Sunday, June 1st, 2025: RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Brennan Ward earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Hartford first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Ward hit .420 with 4 home runs, 26 RBIs and 16 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This season Ward has delivered 73 hits in 197 at-bats for a .371 average with 6 home runs. He is getting on base at a .425 clip and his totals also include 37 RBIs and 29 runs scored. This year Ward has played in 56 games.

Montreal First Baseman May's #1 Rookie
James Thompson earned the Continental League Rookie of the Month award for his fine play in May.

That's the first time since the restart that I think I've seen a Ranchero leading the league in a batting category at the end of a month. yay!

Friday, June 20th, 2025: FOOL News: The All-Star Game Rosters Have Been Announced
Nothing is for certain about the 2025 Front Office Offseason League All-Star Game. It may be dominated by top-notch pitching performances. Or it could turn into a home run derby. Who knows? Pitch by pitch, inning by inning, the game could feature a little of both -- six strikeouts in a row by a nasty southpaw -- or a 3-homer day for some superstar slugger -- plus great catches, thrills, chills and spills -- all the great and the unexpected things that can happen in a baseball game.

This year, the Continental League will be represented by these All-Star performers:

Daniel Gil, even though he's playing elsewhere. Been a long time since he missed the All-Star game, and I wonder if he's missing the friendly confines of Fenway...
