CLCS game 1:

Renaud Lemieux for Napa Valley vs Kieran Browne for Edmonton

Lemieux had a great season for a rookie this year, and thus Napa Valley boldly awards him the chance to pitch in game one of the Championship series. He fails to live up to their expectations however. He gives up two runs in the bottom of the first on a Jose Gonzales RBI double, a Jose Macias Solo homer in the bottom of the second and three more runs in the third on five hits.

Browne was solid for the Edge as well, going 8 innings, allowing only 2 runs on five hits in the win.

Edmonton 7, Napa Valley 2

RLCS Game 1:

Alfredo Hernandez for Hammersmith vs Juan Sierra for New York

What an amazing masterpiece of pitching this one is... Hernandez and Sierra both pitch great! Hernandez goes 9 innings, allowing 0 runs on 8 hits. Sierra went 9.1 innings allowing 0 runs on 5 hits. Both starting pitchers did what they needed to in order to keep their teams in the game and we head into extra innings.

Both the 10th and 11th innings pass without any scoring, it is in the top of the 12th that the first run of the game crosses the plate. Against new York relief pitcher Alejandro Guzman, Daniel Gil gets a one out walk, followed by a Simon Bignell single that gets Gil all the way to third. Bignell advances to second on a throw at the end of that play to put runners on second and third with only one out!

New York decides to walk Miguel Rodriguez intentionally to pitch to Don Adler. That is a mistake as Adler hits a ground ball between first and second that makes it through for a single. Two runs cross the plate and Hammersmith takes a 2-0 lead in the top of the 12th!

New York brings in Felix Robles to try to help them get out of this mess and he does so, striking out Doran and getting Yan to fly out to end the inning but not before Hammersmith takes the lead.

In the bottom of the 12th, Hammersmith brings in Manuel Cardona to try to save the game. He gets off on the wrong foot by giving Duran a free base on balls, but makes up for it by striking out Sandoval for the first out of the inning. He forces Rosario then to pop out to the catcher down the third base line for a quick second out.

Maurice Beaudin steps up as the tying run with two outs now. The 1-0 pitch.. is in there for a strike, but the catcher fires down to first quickly to try to get a sneaky third out... but the throw is way off target and rolls on into Right field. Duran easily advances to second, that will be an error.

Cardona focuses once again on Beaudin, the runner at second does not matter at this point. Beaudin fouls off three pitches and works the count full.. the 3-2 pitch.. outside ball four! The tying run is now on first base with two outs.

That brings up Lawrence Carroll to bat. He takes four straight pitches, but only 3 of them were called balls. The 3-1 pitch, he takes again and that one is low for a walk as well! Back to back walks has loaded the bases and put the winning run on first base!!

Vince Hanna steps up to the plate. He will either be the hero or goat here as the bases are loaded with two outs and the Heroes are down by 2 in the bottom of the 12th. Cardona delivers the 0-1 pitch.. swung on and missed, but the catcher loses it. A passed ball! All of the runners advance a base and Duran scores easily. The score is 2-1 and the tying run is now just 90 feet away!

The 0-2 pitch to Hanna... swung on.... fouled behind the plate.

The 0-2 delivery again, called a ball.. the tension here is incredible, you can hear the crowd going crazy!

The 1-2 count, swung on, hit hard on a rope.. to right field and the Right fielder can't quite get to it.. Beaudin scores.. Carroll rounds third, he is running home and they won't be able to have a shot at him...

Hanna has a bottom of the 12th two run double to win the game for New York!

New York 3, Hammersmith 2 (12 innings)

CLCS Game 2:

Rafael Barrios pitches for Napa valley vs Johnny Catron for Edmonton:

This game pretty much continues where the last one left off. In the bottom of the first inning, Webb leads off with a walk for Edmonton, Garcia doubles him home for the first run of the game. Broomhead follows with a RBI single of his own and then Hernandez also singles before the first out of the inning is even made. Edmonton scores 4 runs on 4 hits to take an early lead.

Edmonton adds another in the third and two more in the 7th. Meanwhile Catron is simply unhittable as he pitches a complete game 5-hit shutout to help give Edmonton a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.

Edmonton 7, Napa Valley 0

Edmonton leads the series 2 games to 0.

RLCS Game 2:

Mike Davis pitches for Hammersmith vs Manny Villa for New York:

Hammersmith takes the early lead as Rafael Rodriguez leads off the game with a single and then later scores on a fielder's choice for a 1-0 lead.

In the 4th New York strikes back however thanks to a Gabriel Duran 3-run Homer that puts the Heroes in the driver seat. Neither team can really capitalize on any form of hits however until the 8th. Gil, Rafael Rodriguez and Sosa all get hits to get one run back and cut the New York lead down to 3-2.

This time it is Justin Geldard who responds in the bottom of the inning with a 2-run shot that puts New York up 5-2 and they never look back from this point on.

Villa pitches 8 innings for New York, and gives up only 2 earned runs on 7 hits for the win.

New York 5, Hammersmith 3

New York leads the series 2 games to 0.

Sunday, October 4th, 2026: Catron Mystifies Napa Valley
Sometimes even Johnny Catron of Edmonton isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.

"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said. This time he looked good and made the Napa Valley Winemakers look bad, blanking them by the score of 7-0.

Catron tossed a 5-hit shutout against them, totaling 7 strikeouts and giving up 1 walk.

To date Catron is 15-16 in 41 starts with a 3.67 ERA and has 264 strikeouts in 259.2 innings.

CLCS Game 3:

Armando Rojas pitches for Edmonton vs Jorge Martinez for Napa Valley

Napa Valley gets their first run in some time thanks to a Uksem Gathee solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first. This is the Winemaker's first lead of the series.

In the top of the third Edmonton responds on a Pina Sac fly for the first run of th einning. Then with Rojas, the pitcher on third base and Broomhead up to bat, Martinez gets called for a balk.. He is livid, you can't call a balk in a situation like that during the playoffs! Rojas comes in to score though and Edmonton takes a 2-1 lead after 2 1/2 innings.

That remains the score for only 1 1/2 innings as the bottom of the 4th Napa Valley retakes the lead on a Jesus Diaz 2-run Homer, but Edmonton responds instantly in the top of the next inning with a RBi single from Broomhead that makes it a 3-3 game.

Both pitching staffs lock in after that, and 3-3 remains the score through the 9th inning, which takes us to extra innings!

The 10th inning sees 6 straight outs as neither team gets a runner on and four batters strike out.

In the 11th, Edmonton threatens to score as Gill leads off with a double and Webb is intentionally walked.

Sutton pops up to the first baseman, Conboy, a pinch hitter, strikes out looking and then Pina grounds out however to strand two runners on.

In the bottom of the 11th, Napa Valley also gets a 2-out hit from Tegan, but they can not do anything with it either when Silva grounds out to end the inning.

Broomhead gets another single in the top of the 12th, but that is all. Napa Valley goes down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning, so we continue on now to the 13th inning!

In the top of the 13th, against reliever Evan Wells, Pinch hitter Tony Ibarra leads off with a Single, and then Webb follows with a single of his own to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs!

The 1-1 pitch to Sutton, and Edmonton calls for a double steal! The throw from the catcher down to third, and Ibarra is nailed out! That move may come back to haunt them! Sutton swings on the very next pitch and hits a short blooper to Right field. Webb rushes over to third, but he won't be able to score on that hit. Runners on the corners with only 1 out.

Edmonton calls on another pinch hitter, this time Henry Budgell. He only needs to hit one to the outfield to score a run here. He takes a called strike, but then swings on the next pitch. It is hit , that will get to the outfield, but not nearly deep enough. The Napa Valley centerfielder rushes up and catches the ball in short centerfield for the out. Webb is still stuck at third, now with two outs.

Pina up now, he swings at the 1-0 pitch.. and it is hit right to the shortstop who walks the ball over to the bag for the third out, and the Winemakers make it out of that inning somehow. Edmonton squanders a huge chance there!

In the bottom of the 13th now, Edmonton brings in a new pitcher, this time Pancho Venagas.

Venegas hits the very first batter he faces, pinch hitter Rafael Estrada!

Mario Chavez, the next hitter fouls off two pitches and works the count full. The 3-2 pitch, low and inside. Ball four! Runners on first and second with no outs.

Yasujiro Ishida, up next. He also fouls off several pitches. The 1-2 pitch, swung on and missed! Venagas gets the first out of the inning and it couldn't come on a better hitter there!.

Diaz up now, and he takes the very first pitch. Estrada was going with the pitch, and the Winemakers also try a double steal. Estrada makes it in to third safe however, and that puts runners on second and third with only 1 out in the bottom of the 13th! The Edge choose to not to pitch to Diaz after that, and they walk him to load the bases.

Napa Valley calls on a pinch hitter here, Gordon Whiteway. Interesting choice here as Whiteway hit only .169 for the season and had only 10 hits during the entire year!

Whiteway takes the first two pitches, both called strikes for a quick 0-2 count! He then takes the next three pitches ,all of which called a ball. Whiteway has yet to swing at a single pitch here! As seen in the regular season, he can't hit the ball when he has to so Venagas just needs to put one over the plate here.

The 3-2 pitch, bases loaded, 1 out in the bottom of the 13th in a 3-3 game... ... it is low... ball four... Venagas is yelling mad but the umpire won't hear him. That is a walk, and Estrada scores. The Winemakers win!!

Napa Valley 4, Edmonton 3 (13 innings)

Edmonton leads the series 2 games to 1.

RLCS Game 3:

Edwin Phillips pitches for New York vs Eddie Coleman for Hammersmith:

A three run inning is punctuated by a 2-run home run on the bat of Armando Cuevas in the bottom of the second as Hammersmith takes an early 3-0 lead.

That remains the score for a good majority of the game as Coleman pitches well for the Hooligans. It is not until the 7th that New York gets on the scoreboard thanks to a Nick Vega Solo homer which cuts the lead to 3-1.

In the 8th, the Hammersmith fans grow deathly quiet as New York erase their lead just like that. New York score two runs on three hits and a walk which ties it up at 3 each.

Neither team gets a hit in the 9th, and once again we are headed into extra innings!

In the top of the 10th, Cardona pitching for Hammersmith, New York starts off with back to back singles from Carroll and Hanna to threaten. Cardona gets McIntosh to fly out to right. Both runners then advance a base thanks to a wild pitch, but that does not come back to harm them as Geldard pops up to first, and Vega strikes out to end the top of the inning.

Felix Robles, pitching for New York, gets the first out of the bottom of the 10th easily on a Rodriguez fly out to right field. Adler starts a rally next however with a double. Doran follows by flying out to short center field and it looks like New York might get out of this inning as well.

Yan, up next has a different idea however. He grounds one hard right through the middle of the infield. The New York shortstop ranges to his left, but can't quite get there in time. It is through for a single and Adler rounds third. He easily scores without even a throw and Hammersmith takes their first win of the series!

Hammersmith 4, New York 3 (10 innings)

New York leads the series 2 games to 1.

Never fear Edmonton fans. Just minutes after blowing game three of the CLCS, the agent for Pancho Venagas announces that his client is happy to sign a 2 year extension to stay with the team.

Wednesday, October 7th, 2026: Venagas Finalizes 2-Year Extension
Opting to stay with what he knows, Pancho Venagas signed an extension with the Edge earlier today that will keep the 29-year-old in a Edmonton uniform for at least 2 years longer.

Venagas is poised to earn $1,280,000 per year and is loved by diehards for his loyalty to the organization.

Over the season, Venagas has made 41 relief appearances with 3 saves. He has K'd 37 batters in 46 innings, yielded 23 walks and has a 3.72 ERA. Venagas's record this year is 2-3.

CLCS Game 4:

Kieran Browne pitches for Edmonton (1-0 2.25 ERA this postseason)
vs
Erwin Silander for Napa Valley

Edmonton jumps off to the early lead on a Arturo Hernandez RBI single in the top of the first to make it a 1-0 game. Hernandez once again gets another RBI in the top of the third to make the score: Arturo Hernandez 2, Napa Valley 0.

In the top of the 5th, who else? Arturo Hernandez with a 2-run Homer makes the score now 4-0 Edmonton as they seem to be running away with it once again and Browne is just unhittable.

That remains the score into the bottom of the 9th, when Edmonton removes Browne from the game. Dane Mastin comes in to pitch, and finally Napa Valley faces off against someone they can hit.

Vega starts off grounding out for the first out of the inning, but then Ishida takes a walk, and Keeping doubles to put runners on second and third with only 1 out.

Edmonton decides to not mess around here and they go to their closer Josh Wright.

Wright faces off against Uksem Gathee, but Gathee makes solid contact and lines one to centerfield to score the first Napa Valley run of the game. The score is now 4-1 with runners on first and third and only one out. The tying run coming up to bat.

Fen follows with a single of his own on the very first pitch. 4-2 is now the score and runners on 1st and 2nd with only one out!

Silva comes up to bat now, and hits one deep... deep... to right field.. back back.. and it is.. caught at the wall! Gathee tags up at second and makes it to third without a throw. Runners now at 1st and third, but Napa Valley is down 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th with two outs.

That brings Robert Burns up to bat. He works the count full thanks to fouling off three pitches.. The 3-2 pitch, and this is lined into short left field. Gathee scores, Fen is around second and stops at third base. 4-3 now is the score, the tying run at third base, winning run at first.

Clifton O'Keefe steps up to bat as a pinch hitter for the pitcher. He works a full count as well. The 3-2 pitch.... swung on..... and missed! That is out #3 and Edmonton escapes this one barely with a win!

Edmonton 4, Napa Valley 3

Edmonton leads the series 3 games to 1.

RLCS Game 4:

A rematch of the game 1 masterpiece between Sierra and Hernandez:

Justin Geldard hits a solo home run in the top of the second for the first run off of Hernandez in the postseason and an early New York 1-0 lead. That remains the score until the 5th when Hammersmith finds out that Sierra is indeed human. The Hooligans score on an Adler Sacrifice Fly that ties the game back up 1-1.

In the 7th, Sierra starts to tire and New York brings in Robert Schneider to pitch. The second batter he faces, Miguel Rodriguez tees off on the first pitch to him though, as he hits a solo shot to put Hammersmith up 2-1.

New York is unable to come back in the 8th or 9th innings, and Hammersmith goes on to tie up the series.

Hammersmith 2, New York 1

The series is tied 2-2.

CLCS Game 5:

Johnny Catron pitches for Edmonton vs Renaud Lemieux for Napa Valley:

Edmonton jumps on the rookie once again in the first inning, as Pina hits a 2-RBI single and the Edge take a 2-0 lead.

Lemieux settles down after that and pitches better this game. Napa Valley manages to get one of the runs back in the bottom of the 4th on a Diaz Solo home run. They then tie it up in the bottom of the 6th when Ishida hits a RBI double to make the game 2-2.

Lemieux gets lifted to start the 8th inning, for reliever Evan Wells. Edmonton jumps at the chance and they get a run thanks to an error, a walk and a single to take the 3-2 lead. The Winemakers must win this game or their season is over however, and they responds in the bottom of the 8th on another Ishida RBI to once again tie the game back up at 3 now.

In the top of the 9th Edmonton once again puts together a rally. Conboy hits a 1-out pinch hit single and advances to second on a wild pitch. Wells gets Budgell to ground out for the second out of the inning, but then Webb, Ibarra and Broomhead hit back to back to back singles, and Edmonton gets two more runs to grab a 5-3 lead after 8 1 /2 innings.

Napa Valley is down to their final three outs before facing elimination and down by two runs, who will they face in the 9th? The Edmonton Closer? Nope! Pancho Venagas enters the game to the cheers of the Napa Valley fans!

Venagas gets the lead off hitter Estrada to fly out, and then Tegan also flies out for a quick two outs. Perhaps he'll get the save in this one!

O'Keefe steps up to the plate, Napa Valley's last chance.. but he gets a double to keep the inning alive. The tying run comes up in the form of Uksem Gathee.

Gathee swings at the first pitch, but misses for a strike. He takes the next three pitches, two of which are called as balls for a 2-2 count. The pitch... hit hard... right at the first baseman. He tosses it underhanded to the pitcher who is running over to cover first.. it will be close, a footrace... who got there first? It was Venagas.. OUt number 3! The Edge have won the Continental League pennant!

Edmonton 5, Napa Valley 3

The Edmonton Edge are the 2026 Continental League Champions!!

Villa for New York vs Davis for Hammersmith:

Hanna hits a RBI double in the first for New York and they rush out to an early lead 1-0. The Heroes score three more in the third, including a McIntosh SOlo home run and 2 RBIs from Sandoval on a double. New York threatens to run away with this one.

A Beaudin Solo Home RUn in the top of the 4th pretty much puts this one away and New York cruises to a fairly easy win.

New York 8, Hammersmith 4

New York leads the series 3 games to 2.

Coleman for Hammersmith vs Phillips for New York:

RBIS from Adler and Yan in the top of the 2nd put the Hooligans up 2-0 early. Geldard hits a solo shot for New York to help cut the deficit in the bottom of the inning, and they complete the come back with two more in the next inning to take a 3-2 lead.

Hammersmith now faces extinction if they are not able to win this one. They don't go down without a fight here, as the top of the 6th sees them score two more on RBIs from Rodriguez and Adler and they now have a 4-3 lead.

The Hooligans score two more insurance runs in the top of the 8th, and they force a game 7 with New York in the RLCS!

The Stat of the day goes to Adler who went 0 for 2 but had 3 RBI and a walk in this one.

Hammersmith 6, New York 4

The RLCS is tied up 3-3.

Game 7 of the RLCS who do you want to see?

Couldn't have a better matchup here.

Hernandez pitches for Hammersmith (0-0 0.59 ERA this postseason)
vs
Sierra for New York (0-0 0.57 ERA this postseason)

The pitching matchup is as good as one could hope for. Neither team can manage to score until the top of the 5th when Armando Cuevas hits a two run home run to put Hammersmith up 2-0.

They get another one in the 7th on a Bignell RBI double and a 3-0 lead. The Home fans are stunned as they are watching their Heroes go down with Sierra on the mound...

New York is not done yet however, as the bottom of the 8th, they finally break through against Hernandez. Hanna draws a one out walk, followed by a McIntosh Double to score the first Heroes run of the game. Geldard, the next hitter, grounds out to second, but moves McIntosh over a base in the process. Vega then singles him home and cuts the lead to 3-2!

Duran, the next hitter singles as well to put two runs on and that will be all for Hernandez in this one. De Los Santos comes in to pitch for Hammersmith now to try to get out of the mess.

The first batter he faces is Sandoval, who strikes out looking to end the inning. New York cuts the lead down to one however.

Hammersmith is not able to do anything in the top of the 9th, so that score remains into the bottom of the 9th. De Los Santos still pitching for Hammersmith. He gets Rosario to line out for the first out of the inning.

Beaudin singles to get something started for New York.. Carroll follows with a fly out to centerfield for the second out of the inning.

That leaves everything on the shoulders of Ian-Olivier Vezina. He takes the first pitch for a called strike. The next pitch he swings on and hits deep to Center field.... not enough carry on this one though.. and it is caught.... THat is out number Three!

Hammersmith has won it!

Hammersmith 3, New York 2

Hammersmith Hooligans are the 2026 Republic League Champions!

FOOL Classic Game 1:

Hernandez for Hammersmith vs Rojas for Edmonton

Hernandez was slated to pitch in this game, back to back after game 7, but a game time decision that he was not ready calls upon Pedro Martinez to pitch for the Hooligans instead.

Martinez gets an early 1-0 lead thanks to a Gil RBI double in the top of the first. Edmonton ties it up in the bottom of the second however when Upton gets an RBI double.

Edmonton breaks it open in the third however as they score six runs on five hits and four walks and they run away with game one.

Edmonton 8, Hammersmith 3

FOOL Classic Game 2:

Cardona pitches for Hammersmith vs Browne for Edmonton

Edmonton once again jumps to an early lead when Pina knocks in two on a single in the bottom of the second inning. Hammersmith responds in the top of the 4th however as two runs score on a Bignell Triple, and he scores on a fielder's choice the very next pitch. Hammersmith takes a 3-2 lead in the 4th.

Hammersmith adds to that lead with a Miguel Rodriguez solo shot off of Browne in the 7th and they now lead 4-2. Edmonton respons in the bottom of the inning when Broomhead hits a 2-run shot that ties up the score 4-4!

Cardona loses handle on the game in the bottom of the 8th on a Pina sacrifice fly that gives the Edge, the Edge 5-4.

Hammersmith starts off the top of the 9th vs Wright with a Rosales Pinch hit double and a Rodriguez single, but those are the only hits they can manage. Wright strikes out Sosa and Souza back to back to close out the game with an Edmonton win.

Edmonton 5, Hammersmith 4

FOOL Classic Game 8:

Browne pitches for Edmonton
vs
Coleman for Hammersmith:

Both pitchers pitch well and neither team is able to score until the top of the 8th when Edmonton strikes through vs Coleman on a Arturo Hernandez Sacrifice fly that makes the score 1-0.

That remains the score into the bottom of the 9th. Hammersmith is down to their final three at bats and they now have to face off against Edmonton closer Josh Wright.

Souza swings at the very first pitch he sees and grounds out immediately to the third baseman for out number 1.

Cuevas, the next hitter also swings at the first pitch he sees, but he manages to line it over the head of the third baseman for a single. THe tying run at first base, and winning run coming up to the plate with only one out!

Dani Aguilar is next, and he hits one on the nose, but right at the centerfielder who makes the easy catch for out number two.

The Hooligans season is down to their final out here, and who else should come up to the plate representing the winning run? Daniel Gil, the new Home Run King of Fool.

Gil fouls off one pitch and works the count full.
The 3-2 pitch delivered to Gil... swung on and hit... that ball is crushed... dead center field... going... going... Gone... and still going!!

Daniel Gil hits a ball to deadaway center field, 449 feet for a 2-Run HOME RUN!!!

Hammersmith wins! Hammersmith wins!

A Walk off home run for Gil ties the FOOL Classic up 4 games each and forces a final game 9 between the teams!

Hammersmith 2, Edmonton 1

The FOOL Classic is tied 4 games each.

Edmonton scores first in this one, an Arturo Hernandez RBI double in the bottom of the first gives them a 1-0 lead. That remains the score until the top of the 6th when Dani Aguilar ties it up with a solo shot!

Edmonton retakes the lead in the bottom of the 7th when Broomhead hits into a 0-out double play that scores Pina from third to give them the 2-1 lead.

Hammersmith goes down 1-2-3 in the 8th, and Edmonton gets two more insurance runs in the bottom of the inning on a Webb RBI double followed by an Upton RBI single that gives the Edge a 4-1 lead.

That brings in the Edmonton closer Wright once again to face Hammersmith in their final three outs yet again.

First hitter, Simon Bignell worked the count full before hitting a ball square on, but right at the left fielder for the first out of the inning.

Sosa, up next hits harmlessly to the shortstop for an easy 6-3 ground out.

Jesus Souza gets called upon to come to the plate as a pinch hitter with 2 outs, as the Hooligans last hope.

First pitch, swung on and missed. Strike 1!
Second pitch, taken but called a strike...

The 0-2 pitch.. low for ball 1.
The 1-2 pitch.. low again for ball 2.

The 2-2 pitch, swung on... and missed. Strike 3! Edmonton wins the game!

Edmonton 4, Hammersmith 1

Edmonton is the 2026 FOOL Champions!!

The new file is up! We are off tomorrow and then have the amateur draft on Thursday morning.

The HTML reports are going up now and should finish in an hour or so while I sleep.

Some housekeeping notes: I have a huge huge project at work that this is the busiest week for me. I actually am going to be at work from Friday night until Saturday some time. So I am pretty sure that Saturday's sim will run late. I wanted to give everyone a heads up on that.

Also ekcut, sorry I forgot to fix your rolloverbug guy. So I don't forget with everything else on my mind, can you do me a favor and re-PM me so I can just let it sit unread until Thursday?
