CLCS Game 1:

Gabriel Montoya pitches for Napa Valley vs Brent Edlich for Edmonton

Napa Valley scores 2 in the top of the 6th on a sacrifice fly from Gathee and a RBI single from Hatfield to take the lead, but Edmonton comes back with three in the 7th thanks in part to a 2-run pinch hit Home run from Lawrence Hoskins to take the lead.

The 3-2 lead holds for the remainder of the game and Edmonton wins game 1 despite Second baseman Sergio Lujan hitting 4 for 4 for Napa Valley.

Edlich goes 7 innings, striking out 9, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits in the win.

Edmonton 3, Napa Valley 2

RLCS game 1:

Juan Sierra pitches for New York vs Isoruko Ohayashi for Colorado

The first two hitters of the game reach base for New York in time for a Nick Vega 3-run Home Run to give Sierra the early lead. An insurance run in the 6th adds to the Heroes lead and that is all Sierra needs in this one.

Sierra pitches 6 innings of 4-hit ball, only striking out 3 but giving up no walks and no runs.

New York 4, Colorado 0

CLCS game 2:

Bartolo Rodriguez pitches for Napa Valley vs Po-fu Gu for Edmonton

Jesus Garcia hits a 3-run Home run in the bottom of the 1st and then the Edge add to it in the third with another run scored for the early 4-0 lead.

Dave Groves hits a sacrifice fly for Napa Valley in the 5th to get the Winemakers on the board, but Edmonton stretches the lead even further in the bottom of the inning with a Pina 2-run HR which makes the score 6-1 and seemingly puts the game away for the Edge.

Napa Valley refuses to quit however and in the top of the 6th, they score 4 runs, including a bases loaded walk to Velona a sacrifice fly from Coutreras and Rei, and a RBI double from Hatfield which cuts the Edmonton lead to 1.

Velona gets another RBI in the top of the 8th when he ties up the score with a Solo Home Run for Napa Valley, but it was not meant to be. Hoskins comes up with a big pinch hit RBI for the second straight game as he cracks a single in the 9th to score Glen Castle from third to lead Edmonton to a second win.

Edmonton 7, Napa Valley 6

Edmonton leads the series 2 games to 0.

RLCS Game 2:

Manny Villa pitches for New York vs Naofumi Ueda for Colorado

Colorado gets runs in the 2nd, 5th and 7th innings to take a 3-0 lead. In the top of the 8th, Xavier Jimenez ties the game up for New York with one swing as he barely pushes a 3-run home run over the left field fence.

That remains the score through the 9th and we head into extra innings.

Mike Griffith hits a 2 out triple for Colorado but is stranded at third base with the final out in the bottom of the 10th and we continue to the 11th.

In the top of the 11th, New York loads the bases thanks to Rosario being hit by a pitch, Howard getting a single, followed by Vega getting a walk. Despite the bases being loaded, Duran flies out to end the threat without any runs scoring. Colorado gets a base runner in the bottom of the inning, but could not advance him past first base so we head into the 12th.

In the top of the 12th, McCarthy hits a RBI double to put New York in the lead, but Ivan Ruiz ties it up again in the bottom of the inning thanks to a solo Home run and thus we enter the thirteenth inning.

Colorado gets in trouble in the top of the 13th as they put two runners on with only one out. Duran lines out to the shortstop, but Jimenez follows with another 3-run Home RUn, the second one of the game to put New York up 7-4 before Morgan harmlessly strikes out to end the top half of the inning.

Guzman stays in to pitch for New York in the bottom half of the inning. He gets Santana and Masson to both fly out, and then Wood grounds out to end the game with a New York come from behind victory!

The obvious start of the game was Jimenez who went 3 for 7 with 2 Home Runs and 6 RBI in the win for New York.

A solid performance by Ueda is wasted in the loss as he pitched 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, striking out 8 and allowing 0 runs to score.

New York 7, COlorado 4 (13 innings)

New York leads the series 2 games to 0.

CLCS Game 3:

Donald Morgan pitches for Edmonton vs Renaud Lemieux for Napa Valley

Lemieux had what might be considered a subpar season for him, but in this game he does well, pitching 9 innings, striking out 13, and allowing only 1 earned run on 5 hits. The big problem for him is after 8 1/2 innings, Edmonton scored a second run thanks to an error, and Napa Valley only has one run themselves and Lemieux find himself trailing 2-1 entering the bottom of the 9th inning...

Morgan pitched 8 innings up to this point, allowing 6 hits but only 1 run and is on record for the win. Ekcut decides to pull him in the bottom of the 9th to bring in Josh Wright to close the game out.

Wright gives up a lead off double to Hatfield but then gets Fuentes to line out to Center field for the first out of the inning. Wright lets one get away however ane he hits Rei to put runners on 1st and 2nd in time for a pinch hit infield single from Heredia that he simply outruns to load the bases with only 1 out!

Orlando Navarro steps up to bat with the bases loaded, and he swings at the very first pitch he sees, lining it into Centerfield where it drops in. Hatfield scores, Rei and Heredia both advance one base and both try for two. Rei scores from third and for some reason the throw comes into third base instead. THey get Heredia at third base for the second out of the inning, but Rei scores without the throw and Napa Valley wins the game thanks to a bone-headed play by the Centerfielder John Conboy who came in just this inning as a defensive replacement... What a horrible way to lose a game!

Napa Valley 3, Edmonton 2

Edmonton leads the series 2 games to 1.

RLCS Game 3:

Joe Durham pitches for Colorado vs Edwin Phillips for New York

Luis Santana hits a bomb of a home run in the top of the first, a 2-run shot that goes 440 feet as part of a 3 run inning which puts Colorado on top to start.

Colorado adds to it in the top of the 5th on a 3-run Home run from Paul O'Bryan which makes it a 6-0 game and a run away for Colorado. New York comes back to score a few late in the game, but they can not recover from the early deficit.

Santana goes 4 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBI for COlorado in the win

Colorado 8, New York 5

New York leads the RLCS 2 games to 1.

CLCS Game 4:

Kieran Browne pitches for Edmonton vs Antonio Gonzalez for Napa Valley

Gonzalez has a melt-down type inning in the 3rd where he gives up a single to the pitcher Browne and then proceeds to walk two more, including one with the bases loaded in the inning. Somehow he manages to get by with only one run given up and Edmonton leads 1-0 after 2 1/2 innings.

Napa Valley strikes back immediately in the bottom half of the inning on a 2-run HR from Coutreras and the Winemakers are now in the lead 2-1. THey add to it in the next inning on another 2-run HR, this time from Gathee and they extend their lead now to 4-1.

Edmonton gets a 2-run HR of their own from Pina in the top of the 5th to cut the Winemaker lead to just 1, and then in the next inning, 2 more runs on a Chavez RBI single puts the Edge back on top 5-4 as Mario Chavez haunts his old team Napa Valley there.

Fuentes hits a RBI single in the bottom half of the inning which ties us back up at 5, but Edmonton responds once again in the top half of the next inning on yet another Chavez RBI single and they once again have a 1 run edge, 6-5.

Lujan hits a solo shot in the bottom of the 8th to tie us back up, now at 6 each and that remains the score through the 9th, meaning extra frames!

The 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th innings all pass by without any runs scoring.

In the bottom of the 15th, Edmonton brings in Mastin to pitch the inning and he gives up a lead off single to Gomez to start off the inning. Lujan and Velona both line out for a quick 2 outs, but then Gathee hits a 2-out single allowing Gomez to make it all the way around to third base, now with 2 outs. Hatfield steps up to the plate next and grounds one between the third base and shortstop for a single himself which scores Gomez from third and that is the ball game!

Napa Valley 7, Edmonton 6 (15 innings)

The CLCS is tied up 2 games each.

RLCS Game 4:

John Cleveland pitches for Colorado vs Juan Sierra for New York

Vega starts off the scoring with a RBI double in the bottom of the 4th to put New York up 1-0. Colorado answers in the top of the 5th on a RBI single from their own Vega, Arturo Vega which ties us back up 1-1.

2 more runs from New York in the bottom of the 5th, including a McIntosh RBI single puts the Heroes up 3-1 and they add a few insurance runs, once again on a RBI single by McIntosh in the 7th, helping speed Sierra along to his second postseason win.

New York 5, Colorado 2

New York leads the series 3 games to 1.

CLCS Game 5:

Edlich for Edmonton (1-0 2.57 ERA this postseason)
vs
Montoya for Napa Valley (0-1 3.38 ERA this postseason)

Pina leads off the game with a solo home run for Edmonton to give them a 1-0 lead. That remains the only score of the game until the bottom of the 4th when Napa Valley jumps into the lead on a RBI double from Gathee and RBI single from Hatfield as the Winemakers go up 2-1.

Edmonton retakes the lead in the top of the next inning on RBI singles from the pitched Edlich and Soto as well as a RBI triple from Broomhead and the Edge go up 4-2.

A Coutreras Solo Home run in the bottom half of the inning bring the Winemakers back to within one but that is as close as they get.

Broomhead is the star of the game for Edmonton, hitting 3 for 5 with a double, a triple and RBI.

Edmonton 5, Napa Valley 3

Edmonton leads the series 3 games to 2.

RLCS Game 5:

Ohayashi pitches for Colorado (0-1 6.35 ERA this postseason)
vs
Villa for New York (0-0 3.18 ERA this postseason)

Colorado in a must win game goes up 2-0 after 1 1/2 innings before New York ties it up in the bottom of the second. Another Heroes run in the 4th threatens the Rancheros' extinction, but a late game Colorado offensive surge brings them back and gives them a second life.

Chen goes 2 for 5 with a double and 2 RBI while Griffith goes 3 for 4 with a double and 3 Runs scored for COlorado and the Rancheros live to see another day!

Colorado 8, New York 5

New York leads the series 3 games to 2.

Bartolo Rodriguez pitches for Napa valley (0-0 12.00 ERA this postseason)
vs

Napa Valley has batting practice as they get home runs from Matson, Lujan, Gathee and the dangerous slugger Bartolo Rodriguez and the Winemakers score 11 runs on 18 hits and force a game 7.

Matson ends up going 3 for 6 with a HR and 2 RBI, Lujan hits 3 for 5 with a double, Home run and 2 RBI and Gathee goes 2 for 6 with a double, Home RUn and 2 RBI for Napa Valley in the win.

Napa Valley 11, Edmonton 6

The CLCS is tied up 3 games each!

RLCS Game 6:

Phillips pitches for New York (0-1 11.37 ERA this postseason)
vs
Ueda for Colorado (0-0 0.00 ERA this postseason)

Colorado has their ace on the mound in another must win game, but he gives up 2 quick ones in the top of the first thanks to a Duran RBI double, and quickly finds himself in the hole.

Colorado gets one back in the bottom of the inning, but New York returns the favor in the top of the second and lead 3-1 after 1 1/2 innings.

Both teams trade runs once again in the 4th/5th to up the score to 4-2, and then Colorado scores again in the bottom of the 5th to crawl within 1 once again.

The New York bullpen is too tough, and a pair of solo home runs add insurance for the Heroes late in the game and they go on to win.

New York 6, Colorado 3

The New York Heroes are the 2030 Republic League Champions!

CLCS Game 7:

Lemieux pitches for Napa Valley (1-0 1.00 ERA this postseason)
vs
Morgan for Edmonton (0-0 1.13 ERA this postseason)

Edmonton strikes first, scoring two runs on a Chaundy RBI single in the bottom of the first inning, and they hold the lead for a good part of the game.

Napa Valley ties it up in the 5th however thanks to an error and Single, to give us a 2-2 tie.

Lemieux and Morgan both pitch well enough, leaving the game in the hands of the bullpen for both teams in the 7th. Jesus Garcia hits a 3-run home run off of Napa Valley's Ine in relief to take a 5-2 lead. THat will be all they need as St-Cyr locks down the win for the Edge.

Edmonton 6, Napa Valley 2

The Edmonton Edge are the 2030 Continental League Champions!

Yeah we did, 4-2 in the fastest softball game I've ever played in (45 minutes only).. weird defensive battle.. which is unheard of for softball.

FOOL Classic Game 1:

Sierra pitches for New York (2-0 0.71 ERA this postseason)
vs
Browne for Edmonton (0-0 6.75 ERA this postseason)

An outstanding pitching performance in this one, 8 innings of 4-hit ball, striking out 8 and allowing no one to score... except that line was not from Sierra, instead Browne is the one with the stellar game in this one!

Garcia hit 3 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI while Acosta chipped in with 3 more RBI for Edmonton in the win as the Edge take game 1 vs the toughest pitcher in baseball this season.

Edmonton 6, New York 0

FOOL Classic Game 2:

Villa pitches for New York (0-0 3.86 ERA this postseason)
vs
Edlich for Edmonton (2-0 2.08 ERA this postseason)

Duran hits a RBI single in the top of the first for a 1-0 New York lead, which is added to in the third thanks to a McCarthy RBI single which increases the lead to 3-0.

That is all of the scoring that New York will need as Villa is solid, pitching 8 innings of 4-hit ball, allowing no Edmonton runners to score. The Edge get one late run but it is not enough and New York ties up the series.

New York 3, Edmonton 1

The FOOL Classic is tied 1 game a piece.

FOOL Classic game 3:

Gu pitches for Edmonton (0-1 8.18 ERA this postseason)
vs

Chavez hits a solo Home Run for Edmonton in the top of the third, but New York comes back with 4 in the bottom of the inning including a Nick vega 3-run blast to go up 4-1.

The Heroes score in the 4th and 5th innings as well to g o up 7-1 and easily cruise to a win.

Vega goes 2 for 4 with 2 HR and 5 RBI as he clearly is the star of the game.

Phillips has a solid pitching performance, going 7.1 innings of 3 hit ball, allowing just 2 runs in the win.

New York 7, Edmonton 2

New York leads the series 2 games to 1.

FOOL Classic Game 4:

Morgan pitches for Edmonton (0-0 1.98 ERA this postseason)
vs
Sierra for New York (2-1 2.75 ERA this postseason)

Edmonton evidently has Sierra's number as once again they strike him hard, scoring 4 runs in the fourth inning for the early lead. They add two more runs in the top of the 8th to go up 6-0 over New York and seemingly an insurmountable lead.

The New York bats finally come alive in the bottom of the 9th however, a 3 run shot from Duran, sacrifice fly from Sato and RBIs from ROsario and Mcintosh tie up the game 6-6 and force extra innings.

The 10th, 11th and 12th innings all pass without any scoring, but in the bottom of the 13th Jimenez leads off with a double and later scores when Rosario hits a 2-out RBI single to win the game for the Heroes in extra innings.

New York 7, Edmonton 6 (13 innings)

New York leads the FOOL Classic 3 games to 1.

FOOL Classic Game 5:

Browne pitches for Edmonton (1-0 3.38 ERA this postseason)
vs
Villa for New York (1-0 2.29 ERA this postseason)

New York scores first on a Rosario Sacrifice fly in the third. Edmonton scores 2 each in the 4th and 5th to go up 4-1 however.

New York scores once again in the 6th and 2 more in the 8th as they pull within 1 5-4, entering the 9th inning.

In the top of the 9th, Edmonton scores 2 more runs on 3 hits and 2 walks and put the game away.

Pina and Castle are the heroes of the game for Edmonton, each contributing a double and RBIs as Edmonton wins one on the road.

Edmonton 7, New York 4

New York still leads the series 3 games to 2.

FOOL Classic Game 6:

Phillips pitches for New York (2-1 6.05 ERA this postseason)
vs
Edlich for Edmonton (2-1 2.66 ERA this postseason)

Edmonton wastes no time in this one as they obviously have found their bats. In the bottom of the first, Pina leads off with a walk, Soto hits a single and Broomhead hits a 3-run home run for the Edge to go up 3-0. Edmonton is not done yet as after Chaundy grounds out, Garcia singles, Castle Singles and Chavez hits a sacrifice fly to score another run. Castello then singles, Edlich doubles, Pina singles, Soto walks before Broomhead finally pops out.

In all Edmonton scores 7 runs on 7 hits in the bottom of the first, and that pretty much puts this one away for good.

Edlich pitches 8 innings of 1 hit ball, striking out 10 and allowing no walks or runs in a simply dominating performance.

Edmonton 7, New York 2

The FOOL Classic is once again tied up, now 3 games a piece.

Sorry this is going kind of slow tonight. I'm playing in pain, trying to be a trooper here.

FOOL Classic Game 7:

Sierra pitches for New York (2-1 2.36 ERA this postseason)
vs
Gu for Edmonton (0-2 9.20 ERA this postseason)

Edmonton has not been intimidated thus far this series vs Sierra, but this game he finally appears to be on his game as he goes 7 innings, striking out 8 and allowing only 1 run on 4 hits.

Gu was right there with him however, having only allowed 1 run himself through 6 innings. In the 7th, he somewhat implodes. Geldard leads off with a single for New York, followed by a McCarthy double, Rosario Single which scores a run. Sierra strikes out for the first out of the inning, but McIntosh is intentionally walked to load the bases.

Howard then hits a deep sac-fly to left field to score a second run but now there is two outs. Nick Vega, up next gets hit by a pitch to once again load the bases, and then Duran hits a 2-run single and Jimenez hits another RBI single before Gledard finally strikes out in his second plate apperance of the inning. New York scores 5 runs on 5 hits and take a commanding 6-1 lead.

That is all New York needs as they go on to win this game. Edmonton spoils a good hitting performance from Chandy as he went 4 for 4 with two doubles and a RBI in the loss for the Edge.

New York 6, Edmonton 1

New York leads the Classic 4 games to 3.

FOOL Classic Game 8:

Morgan for Edmonton (0-0 2.08 ERA this postseason)
vs
Villa for New York (1-1 3.29 ERA this postseason)

New York and Edmonton trade runs at the start of the game, but once again the big inning kills Edmonton as New York scores 6 rurns on 6 hits and a walk in the second as they go up huge 7-1.

New York scores three more in the 5th, and this one ends up being a run away, much to the pleasure of the New York home crowd as they start their celebrating early in the stands.

Duran goes 2 for 5 with a HR, 4 RBI and McCarthy hits 2 for 4 with a double, triple and 3 RBI for New York in the win.

Villa has a solid game, pitching 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 6 hits.

New York 11, Edmonton 3

The New York Heroes are the 2030 FOOL Champions!

And just like that, New York breaks a streak of 6 consecutive FOOL Classic wins by the Continental League, and that is also the New York Heroes 5th title since 2011!

I took a break to play some X-COM and figured this would be over. Sucks to see us out of it. I'm really torn now, too. I'm really starting to hate New York, but I really want to see the RL pick up the win!

I honestly thought my chances were pretty slim going into this year. Having to keep missing out on the top free agents since I didn't want to break up the core of the team and watching them under-perform the last couple of seasons, I had given serious thought of dismantling and rebuilding but it was hard to pull the trigger on players I really like. Having the best SP in the league helped me decide to roll with what I had and hope for the best. Barely squeaking into the playoffs on the last day of the season didn't leave me with much hope going against the best team in Colorado. But in the weird OOTP world, being the wildcard again played to my advantage. In my short history with the league the 3 times NY was the wildcard they went on to win the Classic. They have finished 1st in the regular season 6 times and are 0-6 in the classic in those seasons. Makes me want to finish 2nd every year and be the underdog.
