Today is the first day of the free agency period.

With the arrival of free agency comes the opportunity for each club across Front Office Offseason League to propel themselves into the playoffs simply by making a few shrewd, well-calculated signings. General managers have to choose wisely where to spend their dollars. An expensive signing could be the key to a playoff spot or it could handcuff a franchise for years to come.

This year's key free agents include:

1. Nigel Hewson, 29 year-old left fielder
2. Joe Hughes, 36 year-old third baseman
3. Francisco Salinas, 32 year-old first baseman
4. Pedro Martínez, 37 year-old reliever
5. Júlio Rangel, 28 year-old reliever

Freaking Quero didn't retire after I cut him before FA sim #1. He is ancient, what the hell is the guy thinking? I'd hate to see him play for someone else (not that anyone really wanted him) so I used some extra cash to sign him and stuff him in AAA.

Edit:

When he was 35 and I was considering how to handle my loyalty to him I didn't think I'd have to keep him around for another 10 weeks. If I get another great like him I think loyalty will be thrown out the window.

Montreal_GM College Benchwarmer Join Date: Jan 2009	Freaking Quero didn't retire after I cut him before FA sim #1. He is ancient, what the hell is the guy thinking? I'd hate to see him play for someone else (not that anyone really wanted him) so I used some extra cash to sign him and stuff him in AAA. Edit: When he was 35 and I was considering how to handle my loyalty to him I didn't think I'd have to keep him around for another 10 weeks.
