CLCS Game 1:

Julio Rangel pitches for Napa Valley vs Kieran Browne pitches for Edmonton

Edmonton scores first with two runs in the bottom of the 2nd on a Pedro Castillo RBI single and Hector Acosta Sacrifice fly.

Napa Valley did not waste much time in coming back from in the hole however as Bill Adams crushes a GRAND SLAM HOME RUN in the 4th inning to put the Winemakers up 4-2.

Jesus Garcia scores in the bottom of the 4th on an error by the Napa Valley Shortstop which cuts the Winemaker lead to just one. That remains the score until the 8th when Napa Valley finally gets the run back thanks again to Bill Adams with a RBI single to put them up 5-3.

Edmonton once again responds with force in the bottom of the inning, As Prebble and Long both score to tie things up at 5 a piece entering the 9th!

Napa Valley gets a single in the top of the 9th but nothing else. Edmonton goes down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning and we are headed to extra innings!

In the 10th, Edmonton gets a single but that is it, the Winemakers are retired in order (on just four pitches from St-Cyr).

In the 11th, Napa Valley gets a two out double from Okamoto but is stranded there. Edmonton goes down 1-2-3.

In the 12th, Edmonton goes down 1-2-3 again, while Napa gets a walk but nothing else.

In the 13th, Napa goes down 1-2-3 while Edmonton gets a lead off single from Dave Long! Garcia and Castillo both strike out but then Acosta is hit by a pitch putting the winning run at second base with two outs. Pinch hitter Cory Walker grounds out to the second baseman however to end the threat.

In the 14th, Napa goes down once again 1-2-3 while Edmonton gets a two out double and nothing else.

In the 15th, Napa gets a two out double this time from Whittingham, but he is stranded there as Rosario flies out.

In the bottom of the 15th, my current favorite player ends things as Dave Long crushes a 444 foot pitch for a solo Walk off home run off of Alfredo Duran.

Duran ends up taking the loss but gets a raw deal as he gives up only 3 hits in 4 innings while striking out 4.

The hero of the day for Edmonton of course is Dave Long who goes 5 for 7 with a HR, RBI and 3 Runs scored.

Edmonton 6, Napa Valley 5 (15 innings)

Saturday, September 27th, 2036: Long Sensational, 5-7
Edmonton shortstop Dave Long went 5-for-7 today and paced the Edge to a 6-5 victory over the Napa Valley Winemakers at Edge Ballpark.

D. Long singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th, singled in the 13th and hit a solo-shot off A. Durán in the 15th.

This season Long has delivered 132 hits in 542 at-bats for a .244 average with 13 home runs. He is getting on base at a .395 clip and his totals also include 84 RBIs and 82 runs scored. This year Long has played in 162 games.

RLCS Game 1:

Alex Robles pitches for Colorado vs Pablo Zavala for Chico

Fa-tang Le continues where he left off in the regular season with a solo Home run in the bottom of the 1st inning to put Chico up 1-0. Colorado responds in the bottom of the inning, tying things up on an Adam Gates rbi single.

Sun Zhai puts the Rebels back into the lead in the second inning, knocking in two runs with a RBI single that puts Chico up 3-1. Hou Chen hits a solo home run in the top of the third to bring Colorado within one, but Tex Jones gets it back in the bottom of the inning with a RBI double.

A RBI double from Le and RBI single from Dawson in the 4th puts Chico up 6-2 which will be enough to win it.

Chico 8, Colorado 4

CLCS Game 2:

Josh Hinkle pitches for Napa Valley vs Albert Moya for Edmonton

This game features a bit more offense then game 1. Napa Valley scores first with a run in the second, but Edmonton scores 2 in the bottom of the inning. Napa scores again in the third to tie things up 2-2.

In the bottom of the 5th, Edmonton scores 3 times to take a commanding lead... until Napa scores twice in the 7th, three times in the 8th and twice in the 9th to go up 9-5!

Jose Herrera remains in the game to pitch for Napa in the ninth, but he gives up a lead off double to Pedro Castillo. After a pop up for out #1, Blatherwick makes Herrera pay by hitting a 2-run Home Run and pulling Edmonton within two runs!

That is enough of Herrera for the Napa Valley coaching staff and in comes Alberto Lopez to try to save the game for the Winemakers.

Lopez does not fare much better, he gives up a single to Acosta, Double to Walker, Single to Medina and single to Griffith. The onslaught of hits brings in two more runs and the score is all tied up 9-9!

Alfredo Duran now comes in to try to keep the Winemakers from blowing the lead suddenly in the 9th. He encourages Broomhead to ground into a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning. Tied 9-9 we will be entering extra innings for a second straight game!

In the 10th, Napa Valley gets a single but a Garcia double play ends the inning. Edmonton gets a two out walk but nothing else.

Napa Valley has a huge 11th inning, getting a lead off double from Velez, Whittingham is intentionally walked, Bill Adams gets an infield single to load the bases. Rosario strikes out however, Duran, the pitcher hits a ball deep enough into right field to score one run, but Vargas grounds out to end the inning. Napa scores a run though, will it be enough?

Duran obviously stays in the game to pitch the bottom of the 11th. He gives up a one out double though to start the Edmonton faithful rocking the stands. Medina grounds out for the second out but Mike Griffith comes through with a 2-out single that scores Walker from second base and ties the game up! Broomhead also singles, but Prebble grounds out to end the inning. On to 12th we go!

In the 12th, Napa Valley goes down 1-2-3, but Edmonton starts off hot again with a lead off double from Castillo. Castillo stealks third base which leads to an intentional walk being called. Blatherwick steps up to the plate with no outs and the winning run just 90 feet away.. the 0-2 pitch, Blatherwick hits it hard... Does not matter if this one is caught, it is deep enough to score the runner from third base. The sacrifice fly comes through, and for the second straight day Edmonton wins in extra innings!

Juan Vargas hits 3 for 7 with two doubles, a HR and 4 RBI in the loss for Napa Valley.

Blatherwick goes 2 for 6 with a HR and 5 RBI, including the game winning RBI in the win.

Edmonton 11, Napa Valley 10 (12 innings)

Edmonton leads the CLCS 2 games to 0.

RLCS Game 2:

Naofumi Ueda pitches for Colorado vs Armando Sanchez for Chico

Colorado scores one run in the second inning to take the lead first, but Chico gets back to back RBI singles from Tex Jones and Sherman in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead themselves. A Hou Chen 2-run home run in the 5th immediately erases that however as Colorado leads after 4 1/2 innings 3-2.

A huge 7th inning where Colorado scores 4 more runs pretty much puts this one away as that is all Ueda needs.

Colorado gets home runs from O'Bryan, Wallace, Gates and Chen in the win!

Colorado 10, Chico 4

The Series is tied up 1-1.

CLCS game 3:

John Rodgers pitches for Edmonton vs Daniel Padno for Napa Valley

Prebble scores in the top of the 2nd to put Edmonton up 1-0. Prebble scores again in the 4th on a sacrifice fly from Jesus Garcia to give them a 2-0 "Edge".

A Juan Vargas sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 4th gets one run back for Napa, and then a huge 5th inning for the Winemakers, including a Felix Garcia 2-run Home run gives the Winemakers a 5-2 lead.

Prebble hits an RBI triple in the top of the 6th and then scores on a Dave Long sacrifice fly to pull Edmonton within one run.

It seems that Napa Valley will be able to hold on to this one until the 8th inning. Dave Long, the man, the myth, the legend hits a 3-run home run that ends up being the game decider!

Edmonton 7, Napa Valley 5

Edmonton leads the series 3 games to 0.

RLCS game 3:

Gabriel Montoya pitches for Chico vs Joseph Bretherton for Colorado

Colorado scores twice in each of the first and second innings, then another run in the 4th. Chico scraps back a few runs, but four runs in the bottom of the 5th, including a 3-RBI double from Tetsuyuki Sanu puts the game away for Colorado.

The Rancheros get Home runs from Wallace, Vega, Keith and Chen to win a second straight.

Colorado 11, Chico 5

Colorado leads the RLCS 2 games to 1.

CLCS game 4:

Weston Martin pitches for Edmonton while Napa Valley depends on Renaud Lemieux to try to avoid a 4 game sweep.

Lemieux's defense abandons him however as an error from the left fielder allows a run to score in the second inning with two outs. Two more runs score immediately afterwards on an Aguilar RBI single. Edmonton takes a 3-0 lead after 1 1/2 innings despite not having a single earned run.

Martin pitches great for Edmonton, keeping Napa Valley from scoring until the 7th. Velez leads off the bottom of the 7th with a solo HR, and later Rosario hits a one-out RBI single to pull Napa Valley within one.

That is all that Napa can manage however. Lemieux loses a heart breaker as he spreads nine hits across 7 innings, but does not give up a single earned run. Martin just pitches lights out, striking out 6 in 8 innings and giving up just 2 earned runs on 8 hits.

Edmonton 3, Napa Valley 2

The Edmonton Edge are the 2036 Continental League Champions!

Kuei-lin Hsi pitches for Chico vs Gilbert Edwards for Colorado

Chico absolutely pounds the ball, leading off the game with 6 runs in the first inning. That should be enough to put this one away....

... except Colorado scores 7 runs in the bottom of the 2nd and we have a ball game once again! The Rancheros lead 7-6 after two innings.

Chico scores 1 in the 5th and 3 more runs in the 6th to once again take a big lead, 10-7, but Colorado responds once again with 4 in the 7th and 3 more in the 8th.

Wallace goes 3 for 5 with a HR and 4 RBI while Keith goes 3 for 4 with a double, HR and 2 RBI in the win for Colorado.

Zhai hits 4 for 5 with 4 RBI in the loss for Chico.

Colorado wins by a field goal...

Colorado 14, Chico 11

Colorado leads the RLCS 3 games to 1.

You're lineup was really good at the top 3, but mine was maybe deeper. Plus, I think my pitching was just a hair better, especially my pen.

RLCS game 5:

Zavala pitches for Chico (1-0 3.86 ERA this postseason)
vs
Robles for Colorado (0-1 18.00 ERA this postseason)

Zavala is the only Chico starter to have won a game thus far this series, and the Rebels will look to him to try to keep them alive.

Colorado gets one run in each of the third and fourth innings to take a 2-0 lead through 6 innings. Robles completely reverses form from game one however as he pitches 8.2 innings, giving up just 1 run on 6 hits. The Rancheros get 3 runs in the 7th and 3 more in the 8th, to put this one away.

Colorado 8, Chico 1

The Colorado Rancheros are the 2036 Republic League Champions!

The 76th FOOL Classic is set!

Colorado Rancheros (88-74) vs Edmonton Edge (101-61)

This is the first time that the Rancheros and Edge have ever faced off, and is also surprisingly the first time these two managers have faced each other in their long history in this league.

Speaking of keeping it in the RL... after historical domination by the Continental League in the big game, they have not won the Classic in the past three seasons. If Colorado wins this year, this will only be the second time in the entire history of FOOL that the Continental League would have lost three straight FOOL Classics. The Republic League in its history has lost 4 in a row, 5 in a row and 6 in a row once.

Hou Chen keeps up his slugging ways with a Solo Home Run in the top of the 2nd to put Colorado up 1-0. Jud Wallace hits a RBI double in the third to extend the Rancheros lead to 2-0. The very next inning Carlos Martinez hits a RBI double and Adam Gates with a RBI single to put Colorado up 4-0.

Ueda pitches a solid game for Colorado, he gives up 2 earned runs on only 3 hits in 7 innings while striking out 5. Edmonton comes back with a few runs in a come back, but not come up short.

Colorado 6, Edmonton 3

Wallace hits a RBI single in the first to put Colorado up 1-0 early. That remains the sole run for over half of the game. It is not until the 6th inning when a second run scores on a Mike Keith RBI single that gives the Rancheros a 2-0 lead.

Hou Chen hits a RBI single in the 7th for an insurance run, but it is unneccessary. Bretherton pitches great with a 7-hit shut out over 7 innings for the win.

Colorado 3, Edmonton 0

Colorado leads the series 2 games to 0.

Prebble hits a Solo Home Run in the top of the 2nd for Edmonton to give them their first lead of the FOOL Classic 1-0.

O'Bryan ties it up in the 5th with a solo home run of his own. That is short lived however as the next inning, Edmonton scores on a bases loaded walk to Prebble followed by a RBI single to Medina that gives Colorado a 3-1 lead.

Broom head hits a RBI double in the 7th and a RBI single in the 9th for needed insurance runs as Colorado scores twice in the 9th, but not enough to come from behind.

Rodgers pitches 8.2 innings, giving up just 3 runs on 5 hits to claim the win for Edmonton.

For the third straight game, the road team takes the victory.

Edmonton 5, Colorado 3

Colorado leads the series 2 games to 1.

Cory Walker scores on a wild pitch in the top of the first to give Edmonton a 1-0 edge early in the game. Colorado ties it up in the bottom of the 3rd with a Hou Chen Sacrifice fly.

Edmonton re-takes the lead in the 4th with a Prebble RBI double followed by a Medina RBI single for a 3-1 lead. Once again Colorado ties it up in the bottom of the inning, this time due to an Adam Gates 2-run Home Run.

The 6th inning is the deciding one however as Broomhead scores on a bases loaded walk to medina, and then Blatherwick clears the bases with a 3-run Triple to clinch this one for Edmonton.

Edmonton wins despite being out hit 11 to 9.

Edmonton 7, Colorado 3

The FOOL Classic is tied up 2 games each!

Colorado scores three runs in the first, and then back to back solo homers to lead off the bottom of the 3rd from Matos and Wallace to take a commanding lead in this one 5-0.

Ueda is not unhittable in this one, but he is good enough, giving up only 3 runs on 9 hits in 7.1 innings to take his third win of the postseason.

Wallace goes 3 for 4 with a HR and 2 RBI while O'Bryan goes 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, a HR and 2 RBI for Colorado in the win.

The Sole bright spot for Edmonton is Prebble who goes 2 for 4 with a double, HR, 2 RBI and a run scored in the loss.

Colorado becomes the first team in this series to win a game at home!

Colorado 7, Edmonton 3

Colorado leads the FOOL Classic 3 games to 2.

Wow! Those CL games were crazy! I knew Edmonton was going to win, but at least we gave him a fair fight every time...even if we lost...every...time.

Hooray for Colorado!!!

Blatherwick gives Edmonton the lead in the bottom of the 2nd with a RBI double to give them a 1-0 Edge. They get a second run in the third with a Broomhead RBI single.

Colorado ties it up in the 5th thanks to a RBI double from Vega followed by a Hou Chen RBI single. That remains the score into the 9th inning.

Villarreal comes in to pitch for Edmonton in the 9th. He gets Colorado to go down 1-2-3 easily. Rosa enters the game to pitch for Colorado but things are a bit more dicey for him..

Prebble leads off with a walk and is pinch ran for by Castillo. Long grounds out but moves Casillo over to second base. Castillo takes the opportunity to steal third base which forces Colorado to intentionally walk Medina.

Runners 1st and third with only one out.. Blatherwick up to bat. He hits one hard.. really hard on a rope right at the Rightfielder in short right field. Castillo chooses to not tag up as he thinks he might be thrown out at the plate.

Two outs now, Acosta steps up to bat... Hit deep to left.. back.. back... caught short of the wall.. out #3 and we are heading to extra innings!

Colorado takes advantage of Edmonton's missed opportunity in the 10th. Vega leads off with a walk followed by a walk to Hou Chen as well. Wallace comes through in the clutch with a RBI single that scores one! 3-2 Rancheros lead now!

A wild pitch to O'Bryan moves runners to second and third which leads Edmonton to intentionally walking him. Gates follows with a sacrifice fly to left field for a second run of the inning.

Knight enters to pitch for Edmonton and he gets two quick outs to kill the inning before Colorado runs away with this one. Not before the Rancheros take a 4-2 lead.

Rosa stays in to pitch the 10th and he closes down the game. He gets Walker, Griffith and Brisson 1-2-3 and the Rancheros win!

Colorado 4, Edmonton 2 (10 innings)

Colorado leads the series 4 games to 2.
