I'm surprised the pic wasn't in that article.

Anyway, besides all the obvious humour in the article, I love the idea of a group boycotting the store, after being kicked out. "Oh, you're kicking me out? Fine, then...I'm not going in!!"

I don't quite understand the hoodie ban. It is my understanding that the hoodie is a de rigeur part of the chav uniform. However, banning the hoodie for elitist reasons seems like something that just won't fly on discriminatory grounds. So, I wonder what the real reason for the ban is.

Probably because hoodies tend to be baggy, have lot of pockets and make it easy to steal. When I worked at a grocery store, most of the people caught stealing (other than the elaborate ones who put newspaper under their cart with the stuff hidden) wore hoodies or some other baggy coat.

Hoodies also obscure hair length & color and possibly other features that could be used to help identify an armed robber.

Another very good point. I really have no problem with the store having this rule and kicking this person out if they would not follow it.

Wow, the Jedi have went from defending the Galaxy and the Republic to boycotting local grocery stores.

This nut may have a point about the banning of one religious garb, but not another. Something tells me a real jedi knight wouldn't have to worry about being thrown out of a supermarket. Something also tells me he wasn't on a mission to pick up something for his girlfriend.

That's kind of what I was thinking when I read this.

Man, strangely enough, the best part of this whole article was this line from the Tesco spokesman:

"If Jedi walk around our stores with their hoods on, they’ll miss lots of special offers."

Adventure, excitement, a great deal on canned peaches in aisle 4...a Jedi craves not these things.

Yeah, that would make sense.

Thanks for the explanation Jon & Danny.

I still think that a policy like that probably wouldn't fly in the US. If something like that were in place, somebody would intentionally walk in with a hoodie just for the opportunity to bring forth a lawsuit. Not saying that a lawsuit would be a bad thing (I actually think it would be proper for the ACLU or someone else to challenge the policy in this situation), it's just what would probably happen in the US.

The Jedi order has fallen far in the last 30 years or so. How did he even get thrown out? Couldn't he just wave his hand and say "These are not the retards you are looking for."?

In support of this man's plight, I will be watching Star Wars all day today on Spike (tho mainly on the ground that I don't like any of the NFL games on here and I need some background noise that won't distract me from what I'm working on)

So, yeah, watching Star Wars today like I said and they just had ads for both Extenze and Trojan. Apparently, marketers believe in a bit different Star Wars stereotype than I've been told about. JIMGA- care to shed some light on why advertisers think Star Wars fans are sex fiends?

LOL. I can pretty much assure you that's strictly being bought on the basis of gender/age demos, not behavioral targeting
