FOOLX News: Free Agents File
Wednesday, November 9th, 1977: Today marks the start of the FOOLX free agency period.

Players who were unable or unwilling to negotiate contract extensions with their current teams will be filing their papers to become free agents today. It's a period of rejuvenation for some teams, moderation for others. The players on the market are hoping to find greener pastures and certainly some will hit paydirt.

Meanwhile, the media and fans will stoke the rumor mill together, generating energy that will carry them forward to Opening Day. In cities across The United States, fans will hope for that key signing, the one that could propel their club to a championship.

Among the more notable free agents hitting the market today are:

1. Manuel Zaragoza, 35 year-old designated hitter
2. Juan Cruz, 28 year-old center fielder
3. Ricardo Flores, 31 year-old right fielder
4. Carlos Yánez, 31 year-old right fielder
6. Ken Andersen, 27 year-old starting pitcher
7. Armando Durán, 31 year-old first baseman
8. Ken Bailey, 31 year-old second baseman
9. Bryce Preston, 33 year-old center fielder
10. José Pegán, 32 year-old first baseman

I see them as the Computer/AI picks them, but it does not record them anywhere. I don't remember who was 2&3 for ROY, but I know it was not all Washington. The Hitter of the year awards however were 1-2-3 Washington.

What's the oldest player you guys seen playing in OOTP? If my pitcher Tom O'Reilly doesn't retire he'll be 43 next year.

If O'Reilly was going to retire, he would have already. Now he'll play next season unless he gets cut before next sim.

I know we've seen a few in FOOL last to age 43, but that seems to be about it. I would fully expect next season to be O'Reilly's last.

At least he's only making $554,00 this year. His rating are pretty low now.

I just realized that I forgot to look at my minor league free agents last year. Freaking Raoul LeClerc just got gifted to another team because of my stupidity.
