Priceline's design can blow me.
I decided to try the 'name your own price', and while it didn't come up quite as cheaply as I was hoping for, it did come up with a match for the lowest price I've found elsewhere on the airline I have my mileage program, so I figured why not.
'Cept, even though it advertised that airline as having that fare, clicking the link consistently took me to something $100 higher. Fledgling web designers, take note: that's how you scare off business, even if you're just a clearinghouse for the actual vendors. |

Priceline is great. I got my hotel room in downtown Chicago (right next to the House of Blues) for $69 off priceline the other day.
That's weird it did that for you. I'd be inclined to blame it on the airline changing their price and it not updating for some reason.

I've found that happens a lot on all the travel sites. They quote a really low price, but when you attempt to purchase it, it's no longer available or much higher. I don't think it has anything to do with the site, I think it's the airline, or at least that's what I was told when I spoke to a travel agent.

And whatever you do, DO NOT inhale that strange looking gas cloud Mr. Shatner releases near your desk. You have been warned.

I've never used Priceline for air travel- mainly because its not worth saving an extra $100 or whatever to stop in 2-3 different cities rather than a nonstop flight.
Now, for hotels... I routinely pay $50-$80 (never more than $100) for hotel rooms that book $200-$350+. I wouldn't do nearly as much traveling if it wasn't for Priceline. |

Bullshit and/or shenanigans, depending on how saintly your mother is. Both the little 'sort by' links and what they're showing below are pulling from the same damn source - read: airline - or should be if their code monkeys are worth a good goddamn. If they're storing one when their spider crawls and then pulling another live, then they're doing it wrong in the first damn place. |
