FOOL 2059 season

Hey guys, a few things. Remember this is our final season on ootp9. On Wednesday I will be doing the upgrade after the postseason to OOTPX. I know I still have to buy a couple of ootpx copies, and I will do that by Wednesday as well. I'll release the after-postseason file on Tuesday night on OOTP9 and then Wednesday morning do the upgrade to ootpx for thursday morning's sim.

Also, I'm kneedeep in work right now, so unfortunatly have to go quick tonight. I'll do month by month standings and any big events, but likely have to skip out on the pictures and minor news stories I fear. Sorry if that lets anyone down!

I'll get exports in about 5 minutes. Good luck to all!

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2059: Kazuhiko Hashimoto Gets Hit Number 2500
Tokyo's Kazuhiko Hashimoto got the standing ovation -- but the Baltimore Charm got the win.
It was a special day for him at Sony Park. A day when Hashimoto notched hit #2500 of his career. The fans went wild when he did. Even the Charm fans applauded.

The Cyclones second baseman went 2-5 in a losing cause as Baltimore spoiled the party with the 4-3 victory.
In the postgame interview, a downhearted Hashimoto told the media, "We lost -- It's not about individual accomplishments -- we lost."

When pressed further, he admitted his pride in reaching the 2500-hit mark, "A lot of great players never get there. I'm proud, but I would be happier if we had won."

In 2366 career games Hashimoto is hitting at a .301 pace with 2501 hits with 489 doubles, 29 triples and 397 homers while scoring 1424 runs and racking up 1538 RBIs. He logged 1178 walks and owns a .402 on-base percentage.

Saturday, May 3rd, 2059: Number 3000 for Kobayashi
What a day for Akinori Kobayashi. The 37-year-old New York first baseman reached the 3000-hit mark today and the Heroes whipped the Hartford Harpooners 4-2.

Kobayashi told reporters, "It's good to finally get it. The closer you get to 3000, the harder it is to get there. Now the pressure is off and I can go back to just playing ball."

He went 3 for 5 in the game to reach the milestone.

Kobayashi's career batting average is .314. In 2294 games, he has gotten 3002 hits, 221 home runs, 1249 RBIs and scored 1617 runs.

Wednesday, May 14th, 2059: Hammersmith's Fisher Reaches 2500 Hits
Gavin Fisher started out as a baby-faced rookie many seasons ago. Yesterday at Ballpark of Hammersmith the Hammersmith veteran joined the league's 2500-hit club. Fisher achieved that milestone with a 2-for-4 day in the Hooligans 5-4 win over the Hartford Harpooners.

He spoke to reporters in the clubhouse after the game and said, "Looking at the list of all the great players who have done this is humbling. It is a great honor to be among them."

Fisher's all-time stats include: 2501 hits, 511 doubles, 50 triples, 375 home runs and 1435 RBIs in 2261 games. He is batting .293 with 31 stolen bases and has scored 1297 runs.

Thursday, May 15th, 2059: 300 Home Runs for López
Cyclones third baseman Eduardo López reached a career milestone yesterday, blasting home run number 300.

He took the achievement in stride. "It's always good to get another home run and even better to get another win," López told reporters in the postgame interview.

He went 1-4 during the Tokyo 10-9 triumph over the Baltimore Charm and scored 1 run with 3 RBI.

In 1448 career games, López has put up a .269 average, collected 177 doubles, 9 triples, and 300 home runs, driven in 1048 runs and scored 766 times.

Thursday, May 29th, 2059: 2500 Hits for Martínez
He made it!
Mario Martínez got hit #2500! The Patriots first baseman got his milestone hit at Patriots Place against Colorado. But it wasn't enough to bring home the victory. Hyannis was beaten by the Rancheros 9-1.

Martínez's reaction to his accomplishment was nonchalant. He doffed his batting helmet to acknowledge the fans, who were chanting his name.

His manager said, "Mario doesn't pay any attention to individual statistics, the only thing he cares about is winning. He will be more concerned that we lost the game."

Martínez finished the game with 2 hits in 4 at-bats.

Martínez has played in 1992 games and is hitting .330 lifetime with 1434 RBIs, 2500 hits, 497 doubles, 53 triples and 282 home runs. He has scored 1466 times and stolen 397 bases.

Wednesday, June 18th, 2059: Buitrago Raps 400th Roundtripper
The crowd roared -- they knew they were seeing history -- and Olímpio Buitrago was delighted, too -- the 35-year-old Winged Lingerines shortstop was making history with his 400th career homer. The crowd buzzed and roared again when Buitrago stuck his head out of the dugout for a curtain call.

"Never, as a kid, did I ever think I'd hit even one," he told BNN after hitting No. 400 in a 10-4 victory over Chico. Buitrago went 3-5 in the game, had 5 RBI and scored 1 run.

For his 1818-game career Buitrago has hit .289 with 1902 hits, 1345 RBIs and 400 home runs.

Monday, June 23rd, 2059: Hashimoto Belts Number 400
At Sony Park Kazuhiko Hashimoto smashed his 400th career home run in a game against Boston today. The 39-year-old second baseman had a hand in the Tokyo Cyclones 13-4 victory with 1 home run and 5 RBI. For the day he went 2 hits-4 at-bats.

At the press conference after the game, Hashimoto downplayed his achievement.

"Obviously, I've hit 400 home runs so I belong in that 400 club. But when you talk about the other guys that have done it, I'm not as good as they were. Those guys were the greatest of all time. I've just been able to scrape together some good years and stayed healthy and gotten there."

Looking at his career numbers, Hashimoto has played in 2415 games with a .301 batting average. Among his 2545 hits are 496 doubles, 29 triples and 400 home runs. He also has scored 1451 runs and driven in 1560 runs.

Sunday, July 20th, 2059: Hawkins Gets Number 2500
"It would have been a lot nicer, if my 2500th hit had won the game," lamented Will Hawkins after the Hyannis Patriots had been tripped up by the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines, 6-3, spoiling his big day. Monday, August 11th, 2059: #400 for Romo
José Romo hit a historic home run today -- career blast number 400. "I am happy to be in such elite company. It has been quite a ride so far," Romo said after the game.

The Charm right fielder went 2 for 3 with 1 home run and 1 run batted in as the Baltimore Charm won 8-2 over the Napa Valley Winemakers.

All-time Romo has played in 2355 games, batted .240 with 400 home runs and 2040 base hits.

Friday, September 5th, 2059: Rebels Gutiérrez Fires No-Hitter
Alfredo Gutiérrez was pretty calm about his no-hitter -- until the last three outs. "You really become conscious of every pitch then. The adrenaline level kicks up even higher. And everybody in the ballpark knows a no-hitter is on the line. The crowd is on its feet. One mistake and it's all over."

But on this day at Rebels Ballpark Gutiérrez of the Chico Rebels was in complete command, not allowing the New York Heroes a single base hit in the 4-0 victory.

"Obviously, you never think this will happen," he said. "I don't know if it's really sunk in yet." Gutiérrez faced 28 batters, had 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in a dominating effort. "To do this you have to have a good defense behind you, too."

"He was on from the get-go," one of the Heroes said. "He throws quite a few pitches. He was hitting his spots and keeping us off balance. It was a great game by him."

This year Gutiérrez has compiled a 3-15 record with a 7.29 ERA.

Monday, October 6th, 2059:Number 400 for Fisher
Hammersmith's 23-5 victory over Chico was highlighted by Gavin Fisher's 400th career home run. His teammates congratulated him at home plate after he circled the bases.

"I didn't see all of them out there," Fisher said with a chuckle, "until I rounded third base." He added sheepishly: "It was only a home run. It's not like I won us a World Series!"

In 6 at-bats the Hooligans third baseman collected 3 hits in his historic game, scored 4 runs, and had 6 RBI.

In his career Fisher has gotten 2658 hits with a .295 batting average, scored 1375 runs, hit 401 home runs and driven in 1535.

No need to apologize about having to quick sim.

Good luck with the upgrade.

Thanks for everything!

Alright!

Gotta love starting off slow and surviving for a playoff birth.

Big congratulations to the playoff teams, especially Boston for ending a 20 season playoff drought.

Congrats to the final OOTP9 playoff folks. This was not how I wanted to go out from OOTP9, but we just haven't had the weapons or the ability to get new ones for a couple of seasons now. I'm pulling for Hammersmith to take this and make sure the RL has the final 9 title.
