I was displeased that Juan Jofre and his SP salary only had two pitches to go along with his average endurance heading into the conversion. No worries, X has granted Juan an extra pitch. He can start games effectively!

Thanks Guys

Looking forward to getting this going.

New York Heroes trade Block
Julian Withers-LF, 4 stars, 2.6 mil salary for 4 more years
John Clark-LF, 4 stars, 4-5 mil for the next 3 years

Neither will be difficult to get as they are blocking Kevin Busby in AAA

1B looks like a position of need, but I'll take just about any position. 1 of these guys needs to go!

I presume this 7zip will open RAR archives?

I have WinRAR (the downloaded, buy it now!!, version), but I always feel like such a cheapskate using these programs and not paying for them.

If they wanted you to not use it after the free time then they have the ability to stop you. Well they can't stop you really but you have to figure that out on your own lol.

7zip will open any archived container I know of, including tar, jar, arj, rar, gz, etc etc etc.

Its open source, free for anyone to use as long as you want without any annoying nags. It also can fully integrate into the windows shell if you want it to.

Alan, will you be turning compensation on this offseason (so next offseason it takes affect I mean)? Was wondering so I can make a few decisions on players.

Good point. We'll need to know if we have Type A's and B's to consider about to be released right now.

I would think it could even be on for this offseason we're starting right now, since we're not to the key free agent phase yet, and can still make decisions on our free agents to be.

Is there a summary of our new rules somewhere? I, for some reason, didn't realize we were taking on compensation. I'm not upset or anything, I just feel a little lost.

I believe it will be the same as in FOOL-X. Or do you need to know the rules even for that?

OOTP won't allow it until preseason. Preseason is in Febuary in the game. Earliest it can be is next season's FA.

Awesome job getting everything prepared, Alan!

So in general, is arbitration just like FA and extension offers in terms of what people will accept?

Welcome to the new owners!

Yeah, the compensation and such all gets turned on in the preseason, as well as the draft getting moved to March instead of November like it currently is.

So that all starts up next season.

FOOL News: Free Agents File
Saturday, November 29th, 2059: Today marks the start of the FOOL free agency period.

Clubhouses across Front Office Offseason League were already abuzz with rumors as players began filing at midnight. They will be able to negotiate deals with any club in the league.

Once the first major signing is announced, teams will scramble to gobble up whatever talent they can reasonably get. The only thing that is certain is that there will be a lot of new faces in the clubhouses at the start of next season.

Media analysts expect the biggest news to center around a handful of free agents, including:

1. Luis López, 33 year-old catcher
2. Miguel Castro, 32 year-old reliever
3. Kazuhiko Hashimoto, 39 year-old second baseman
4. Pedro Rivera, 31 year-old starting pitcher
5. António Valentín, 32 year-old left fielder
6. Richard Chase, 24 year-old starting pitcher
7. Dan Pollock, 38 year-old starting pitcher
8. José Castro, 35 year-old starting pitcher
9. Guillermo Mota, 28 year-old starting pitcher
10. John Bowen, 28 year-old closer

New file is up! Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the file. I don't believe there should be any problems, but you never know!

Free Agency starts tomorrow morning. Reminder: There are no longer any rules against signing players to Minor league contracts

Edit: Statslab will take a little bit of time for it to be updated. I have to convert it as well and don't have any time for that this morning.

Hmmm well the system completely ignored everything i did on the arbitration page. I ask again how is this stuff supposed to work? It stuck me with guys I would have cut. DOes anything we do in arbitration mean anything or does it always just give them what they want?

In ootpx, you have to enter the amount and press the submit button for each one. Or hit the withdraw offer button for people you want to non-tender.

You have to hit the button for each one or it won't remember it.

yup did that. It did not use my prices however but signed them with the prices that were listed to start with. I hit withdrawal on a couple guys. Lowered another to its lowest possible number and assumed he just wouldn't accept my offer and go to free agency which I assumed all the players would go to free agency if they didn't accept my number. Instead they all signed for the number they started with if I didn't hit withdraw.

Unless you hit withdraw, they will always get some arbitration. Either the team or the player wins in arbitration. If it sides with you, the player will be offered what you put out there. If it sides with the player, then they get what they asked for. If you withdraw, then the player becomes a free agent.

heh I'll deal with it. Just gave me a major heart attack is all. I seem to have so little cash to spend these days.
Didn't know anything about the new arb system as I just started using it. Didn't know there was a winner or loser (in this case me). GUess I'll get a get a good draft pick this year.

Is anyone else having issues connecting to the fool server? I haven't been able to pull files for either this league or X via the game. I've had to grab both manually.

Hrm. Further investigation shows that neither I nor some remote tools I found could successfully pull an IP for the domain name bb-bbcf.net. Anyone else?

That is pretty old configuration. There shouldn't be anything that refers to bb-bbcf.net anymore.

The download via http still shows it. I thought you had moved everything over. For ftp, its showing the correct fool-x.net stuff, but for some reason, neither FOOL or FOOLX are letting me connect via ftp to download. Both let me upload though. Very strange.

Oh and FOOL doesn't have the http download link set in-game, just FYI.

I did just notice that for file download, it uses a different username. Maybe that's what's hanging things up?

**EDIT** Only FOOL-X uses separate usernames for upload and download. FOOL uses the same ones.

Ugh...and of course, on the 15 billionth try, it actually worked, negating all this.

Sounds more like your export didn't take.

The export took because I won some free agents. Must be some sort of glitch or weirdness. I'll just not rely on that arbitration as much in the future when planning out my salary.

Napa Valley, take care of Lopez! He's a great hitter and catcher! We wish him luck in his new home. Welcome to the catching team of Scotty Hililard and J Perez. Hartford picked up one of my subs Ken Wood.

A fond farewell to reitree 1b Griff Boucher. He was one of my standouts when I first joined the league. Nicholas RIchards also retired. He was awesome my first year here but then the youngster kinda died and was surpassed by his roommate Hidalgo.

Hooray I finally have a team! Anyone having problems filling holes?

The Winter Wolves are coming off one of their best seasons of late, missing the playoffs by a mere one game. Their pitching was top-notch, for the second season in a row the top four pitchers pitched double digit wins. Golden Boy Flores is back with a new expensive contract to join junior Chapa, junior Nakamura, and sophomore Turpin. It was only Medina, for the second season in a row, had double digit losses (5-20) and is single handedly responsible for my not making the playoffs. His car was "stolen" and he had to walk home. Freshman Emmett Bertrand gets promoted to the 5th spot and honestly could NOT do any worse than Medina.

On the field, the WOlves lost their favorite catcher and one of their best hitters Luis Lopez due. We called and called but kept getting a Mexican housekeeper with a lisp so our contract negotiations were unsuccessful. Replacing him are former NY Hero Scotty Hilliard who we hope will blossom into a good hitter and Jason Perez who is amazing on defense.

At first base, Aljandro Rodriguez gets the call with a 101 defense and some great hitting potential. He should be able to take the missing lineup spot owned by Lopez. All-star Raul Nunez who has played 2b and SS for the Edge/Winter WOlves now moves over to 3rd base while Alfredo Zamora in his second starting year tries to equal the .319 AVG from last year at SS. ROunding out the infield is Pedro Santos who moves from 1b to 2b. Hung-kiuei Situ returns again in the backup utility role. He actually is one of the best backups hitting-wise and versatility wise I've ever had.

OF superstar and one of the highest plaid players in baseball Felipe Hidalgo. He goes for 250 HR and 1000 RBI this season in LF. Wyatt Rogers moves to CF with a little better glove and speed for the position and a good bat. Rookie Shosuke Goto and Free Agent Mederic Desjardins from St Petersburg Pelicans will fight it out for the RF spot. Both have excellent speed and defense at all three OF positions so it looks like a coin-flip. WIll probably go with the Canadian, eh...

Closer Francisco Ramirez returns again with a new contract after tieing his previous record for saves with 36. Also returning (with bigger contracts than the GM expected) are Joe Humprey, Ernie McDonald, Barton Hampton, and Ernesto Mosca. I suppose if I didn't pay em I'd have no pitching so I'm content now. Trey Aylward gets his call as well into the big leagues and hopes to win the job from Ramirez.

These are your Halifax Winter Wolves 2060! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWL!

Looks like some quality youth were mysteriously cut from Baltimore.

Herb Jones, Asquabal, and Roberto Benitez are the ones that stand out.

Will do! We needed a quality catcher REAL bad. Happy to have him on.

Yup, saw that. Also, Israel Rivera from Hyannis seems like a prospect who should not have been caught.

I have intentionally not bid on these players and hope they are returned to their original teams.
