Week 19.2, From Rob's basement
Week 19.2
From “bg’s” basement Hello folks, and welcome to my bitchin’ pad. I got my Courvasiae.....no wait, that’s the Ladies’ man, which I am proud to say I AM, but still. Really, what I got is 20 cases of beer, 20 large pizza with a variety of toppins, chips, pretzels, dips of all flavors. Oh, and I’ve got Bebec A. Kes and Loretta “Sloppy” Jones, who seem to have become good friends over the last couple days, since our round 2 cup win. I’m still a little bit leery of the whole thing, but as long as all the sharp objects are locked up, I guess everything will be ok. The team is down in Atlanta today, but I decided to stay home and watch on the tube. It’s not that I have any bad memories about Atlanta, I just hate the place, and, well, if you haven’t seen these ti(bleep)ies, not to mention the ass on the slopster, you’d stay home too. Atlanta is a brand new team, and as of Friday afternoon hadn’t done anything interesting. Meanwhile, I have a cup game on Wednesday on the road, a win in which will get me an ever important round 4 cup game at home. I decided to play a second team of sorts today in Atlanta, and save the big guns for the cup. Without further ado, let’s go over the starting lineup. GK - #2 Walter “head stuck in the” Sands (poor form, inadequate keeping) LCD - #7 Urmet “the frog” Halman (passable form, bruised, passable defense, inadequate stamina) Urmet has been hurt for about five weeks, and while still bruised, is going to play for the B squad this week in league play. In his only two league appearances last season, he potted four in the back of the onion bag, so we expect to find him a spot on the A team next week. RCD - #5 Lex “pretty boy” Russo (weak form, passable defense, inadequate stamina) RWD - #8 William “lame duck” Tompkins (solid form, inadequate defense, inadequate winger, poor stamina) We may have to find a new nickname for Tompkins, as his solid form has qualified him for both of this weeks’ matches. Whenever I come down to chosing a wing back, Willie seems to be the guy I pick. LIM - #16 Bernard “detective” Martinez (inadequate form, passable playmaking, passable stamina, technical specialist) If I remember to check, I will not start him if we expect rain. CIM - #18 John “Q” Peaty (passable form, passable playmaking, passable stamina) RIM - #15 Allan “Catbert” Garfield (inadequate form, passable playmaking, solid, stamina, powerful specialist) Garfield was acquired at end of last season, and promptly got hurt in my qualification match. If I remember to check, I won’t start him if it is supposed to be a very hot day. LW - #24 Andy “Capp” Morales (inadequate form, passable winger, wretched stamina) Andy usually plays as a striker on the B team, but I’m not playing either of my A wingers in this match, thus the shuffle. Since I’ve never played him at winger before, this is a little bit of a crap shoot. RW(toward middle) - #13 Richard “forest” Whittaker (weak form, solid stamina, inadequate winger, inadequate playmaking, inadequate passing, inadequate defense) Mr. Inadequate makes his debut at wing. Not knowing exactly how to task him, we opt for beefing up the midfiled rating. LF - #21 Oriol “double stuff” Villaver (passable form, solid scoring, passable stamina) Double stuff is pulling double duty this week. Since I have scrubs everywhere else, I need an A team player somewhere. RF - #22 John “Gimpy” Colvin (wretched form, passable scoring, passable passing, solid stamina, head specialist) An A teamer with B form, I hope I hope I hope he eventually plays out of it, althought at age 21 it is tempting to list him (don’t tell him I said so though). In other breaking news, I’ve pulled the trigger on an eight thousand seat upgrade to the stadium. In an instant, I went from treading water to being $200K in debt. This makes my cup game on Friday even bigger, as a win there would bring a D4 team to my stadium. If I catch a weak one, I could make a huge dent in my debt with yet another home game in round 5. Otherwise, I’ll spend most of the rest of the season paying off my new upgrades. Good luck to everyone today, and feel free to come over, there’s plenty of beer and pizza, just don’t touch my girls! Oh, and don't take that as an invitation to touch me either, you perverts! No crawfish are allowed either |

I'm mixing in some backups and PICing to try to ensure a cup win Wednesday. I'm playing a brand new team, so hopefully I can get a win and keep pace with the cheater that is leading my series.

If he's playing against a new team, why not take a small gamble with the odd on his side? Especially when you can get darn decent immediate money from Cup game gates receipt as well as good experience from them as well. |

for me all the focus is put on cup games, as my all-bot league is sooo weak. I'm playing a team averaging 22 game ratings points over the last three weeks today and I don't have to spell it out to you that my B team is playing and it's all P-I-C all the way

I'm playing a B team with PIC on the road today, as I have a new team in the division, and my cup game on wednesday will give me a chance to play at home, with a bigger stadium, against a team that might be weak enough for me to beat and play another home game. Seems like a no-brainer, the only hard part is deciding how many A players to put in today and feel confortable, which turned out to be 3.

FINALLY!!!!
In the 29:th minute the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending and Calvin Phelan put the ball away for 0 - 1. FrogMan

Still only ahead by 1 at the half...
The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Pintendre, with an impressive 76 percent possession of the ball. 76% possession and things could explode in the second half... FrogMan

Both are important. That is why I'm not playing all of my B-squad today. I will make more money if I can get a couple more rounds into the cup than I will from league position. As I said earlier there is a cheater in my series who should have no problem taking first, so promotion is not likely for me. I will however make over 50k for every home cup game I sell out and that adds up to alot very quickly. |

The Ruskies are attempting to run their unbeaten streak to 15 against a team that will most likely be fighting to stay out of the basement of Div V.13. Next week we will be facing the team that finished 2nd in league play last season, then after a "bye" week we take on last years Division champ, the Amish Commando's (who are the only team in the league better than us), a team fighting of massive debt.
We will be experimenting with an offensive 4-5-1, after a 7 goal explosion in our last cup match made my guys anxious to go out and score a few more goals.

I tried to look at all the teams in your league Ny. The only team that even looked like he was was the Don Juans or whatever. He sold one guy for $400,000 when the value was below $50,000.

Evidently it's not helping the guy out too much. The Dons of Juan finished 7th last season.

I'm in V.234 and The Dons of Juan are the cheaters. They have been reported by several people. The glaring cheat is getting 450k for a 29 year old player worth 12k by a brand new team who never logged in again. In fact they logged in bid 450k on the first day the player was for sale and then never logged in again. The second one we have doubts about is selling a passable or very very low solid keeper for 290k 3 days after he bought him for 175k. That one isn't as bad and the person that bought it does still log in sometimes. I think he decided to play it safe since he knew we were on to him (A series mate issued a press release about the first trade). He is currently online with his fourth different IP address for today, so I doubt anything will come of any investigation. In fact he was probably investigated a while ago as we reported it shortly after the first sale happened. Must be nice to get a free shopping spree.

5 minutes to game time...I'm a little nervous, as the team I'm playing is one of the top four in our division. He was relegated from D4 a couple of seasons ago, and is (or was) a supporter...but he hasn't made any press announcements in a long time. I put in mostly backups, because I'm hoping to win my Cup match this week...lets go Vandals!

Just under 20 minutes from the first game ever in City Lights, home of the Square Pegs. After losing thier first ever league game 5 - 2 while running a 4-5-1, the Pegs have returned to their 5-4-1 formation and are looking for their first league win in their home opener. They are also expected to send out one of their top lineups for both their games this week.
The Square Pegs are 2-1 overall with two shutout victories in the Cup. |

Week 2 – Screamin’ Seamen vs. Big Reds
This is Ivan P. Freely, coming to you live from Chicago. It’s a beautiful day for soccer here in the Windy City, and Screamin’ Seamen owner Data King could not have asked for better weather for the unveiling of the newly expanded Docks. It’s had a face-lift during the off-season, and is a pretty impressive structure, holding thirty thousand seats. The thing looks like a smaller version of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, complete with a faux pirate ship on one side of the stadium. The fans have been streaming in for the past hour or so, and are looking forward to a good match-up. For the Seamen, wingback Arlen Lucas returns to the lineup after serving his one game suspension last Sunday in Detroit. Other than that, it looks like business as usual for SSFC, as they try to rebound from last week’s 4-nil embarrassment at the hands of the Ramblers. Big Reds are one of the new kids on the block, so to speak, and were impressive in their opener last Sunday, when they beat the Syracuse Supers 4-nil. The Seamen will try to contain striker Willibald Roth, who accounted for two of the Reds’ goals. Another player to keep your eye on is Theo Juarez, an impressive-looking nineteen year old who can do some amazing things in the midfield. Oh, I see that the teams have started walking out onto the field, and we’re scheduled for kick-off in about fifteen minutes. This is Ivan P. Freely reporting live from The Docks in Chicago. Now, back to the studio.

I'm playing a semi-crappy team. Still I am a bit nervous because I am giving my goalie whom I just pulled his first start today. Still we should win. Can't wait to get the money from the gates though, that is what I am looking forward to the most.

Anyways, the Hippos are getting ready to start their game against the Flying Midgets in league play. This is a team that could be a dark horse in the division with a good youth squad draw or two so I am not taking them lightly. They haven't hit the transfer wire since before the new year (and I mean 2003 not season 19) so I'm not sure how active they are. That said, they have a pretty good team and a **~ goalie so I've got my best lineup out there ready to play.

Just realized my opponent this week has a player who player for his country's U-20 national team. Though it is the national team for Serbia and Montenegro, plus I think I have 3 or 4 guys better than him.
My team has 4 guys valued at more than $100k (plus another that I sold), and 4 other guys valued at $80k or more. Hoping I can have a decent season this year and get enough money where I'll have a chance to make a run at promotion next year. |

I just got rid of the "no reports" message and was greeted with:
"A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 15692 to The Hippodrome." among other things- the Hippodrome is filled to capacity and rockin' for the home opener. That's a cool $83K for those of you keeping track at home! SI

David Ryan received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 7:th minute and almost caused an opponent to score.
That's a good sign for the Seamen. Ryan is one of the Reds' starting wingbacks.

United started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Lineup: Browning - Figueiredo Costa, Purdy, Chance, Aldrich - Diaz, Mcmillan, Oneal, Walker - Duvholt, Marshall.
Ugh. I play a 3-5-2. I forgot to change one of my Fulls to 'Extra Inner Mid.' I suck |
