We have a few teams over the salary cap. I'll give them a few minutes in case they're around to try to resolve it on their own.

Edit: If you didn't get a PM from me you aren't one of them

The Wildcats have a pretty good pitching staff, but not much in the hitting department. I think we will hang around in the middle of the pack until some of my hitting prospects pan out

It has been a good run for Havana, but I have no idea how this year's going to go. We lost the league MVP in Coronado, but we're bringing up two very good hitting prospects in Terry White and Roberto Diaz, so we might be covered there. And I brought in a couple vet bats to help out. But the defense just looks really mediocre out there.

Thanks to reisgning Takahashi, the rotation is pretty close to what it was before, but was never great shakes. I was sort of surprised how well the back end held up last year. I don't know if I can count on that happening again. And the pen is... iffy, to say the least.

I think I can contend for to get back in, but a couple bad turns at the wrong spot, and I could fall to 6th or 7th, too.

Good luck, everyone!

RL #1 Pitcher in April is Waikiki's Curry
Sunday, May 1st, 2016: Joey Curry was the anchor in the Waikiki bullpen last month and snatched up the Republic League Pitcher of the Month honors for April. The 29-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 13 innings over 10 relief appearances and collected a 2-0 record with 20 strikeouts and 6 saves while etching his 0.69 ERA.

Cull Acclaimed Top Pitcher in April
Sunday, May 1st, 2016: At Joe Cull's age, not many pitchers can still get the job done. But he can still throw the ball. The 38-year-old reliever for Chicago was selected the Continental League Pitcher of the Month for April earlier today -- not only satisfying himself, but silencing critics who said he has lost too much to compete at this level.

The old man definitely still has it, making 13 relief appearances and throwing 17 innings as he chalked up 6 saves, 18 strikeouts, and a fine 2.12 ERA and a 2-0 mark.

Spring's Wood Chosen RL Batter of the Month
Sunday, May 1st, 2016: Bob Wood battered Republic League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 31-year-old Wood told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 24 games, Wood hit .312 with 12 home runs, 33 RBIs and scored 18 runs.

St Cloud Third Baseman CL's Best Batter in April
Sunday, May 1st, 2016: The #1 hitter in the Continental League in April was St Cloud third baseman Paul Couturier. He was selected the Batter of the Month.

Couturier starred with a .356 batting average, 11 home runs and 27 RBIs.

Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Sunday, May 1st, 2016: José Fuentes is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In April the Cleveland hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .333 average with 29 hits, 3 home runs and 20 RBIs.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Sunday, May 1st, 2016: Youngster Roberto Díaz emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Havana deserved the honor, batting .386 with 4 home runs and 24 runs batted in. Is the month of April a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Díaz enjoy the limelight.

May's Best RL Rookie Named
Wednesday, June 1st, 2016: Eddie Cunningham earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Republic League for last month's performance. The boyish Maricopa left fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Cunningham hit .403 with 2 home runs, 16 RBIs and 19 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Cunningham currently has a .326 batting average with 72 hits, 2 homers, 21 RBIs, 29 runs scored and a .345 OBP.

Red-Hot Havana Rookie Rated CL's Best
Wednesday, June 1st, 2016: Roberto Díaz was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 24-year-old first baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen May's Continental League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 28 games Díaz batted .315 for Havana, slapping 35 hits in 111 at-bats with 5 home runs, drove in 24 runs and scored 15 times.

Spring Reliever June's Best Pitcher
Friday, July 1st, 2016: Jesús González has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in June and stole away with the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Lions bullpen ace collected 8 saves and 16 strikeouts in 13.2 innings, holding the opposition to a .149 average and posting a 0.00 ERA and a 4-0 record.

So far this year González has 13 saves in 32 relief appearances with a 5-2 mark and 2.08 ERA.

Pirates Hurler Named June's #1 Starter

Friday, July 1st, 2016: Edward Holt certainly found a groove in June. The Plantana starter posted 4 wins last month to easily claim the Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

During the month Holt was 4-1 with a 2.55 ERA. He made 6 starts, tossed 35.1 innings and had 20 strikeouts.

In pitching stats this season Holt has rung up 6 wins and 5 losses in 20 games. He has an ERA of 5.74 and has fanned 59 batters in 94 innings.

Looks like the hitting is living up to its end of the bargain. I am guessing I need better pitching, though, to stay with Teach for a playoff spot.

Anyone else get midly annoyed when a guy you thought about bidding on (I mean, a non-star, okay player type) but didn't, ends up somewhere on the leaderboards or as an All Star?

Kum Gets #300
Friday, July 1st, 2016: It was a great day for Ze-min Kum, but not a good one for his Waikiki Beach Boys. The 32-year-old center fielder reached a personal milestone with his 300th career homer, but it wasn't enough to beat the New York Legends, who came away with a 6-2 victory. Kum finished the day with 1 hit, 2 RBI and 1 run scored.

"Well, I've conceded the fact that you can't will yourself to hit a home run," he said. "I tried hard for the last few days. It was getting to be embarrassing with the crowd standing up every time I came to the plate."

Lifetime Kum is hitting .262 with 1189 hits, 300 home runs, 912 runs scored and 938 RBIs.

Fortunately for you, two teams make the playoffs every year from the RL. Right now, it's my squad in the position to be worrying about things. Your teams always finish strong.

Hit Parade: Bullinas Gets Cycle
Monday, July 4th, 2016: "To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple and home run in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. José Bullinas grabbed a piece of baseball history today when he hit for the cycle. Bullinas went 4 for 6 with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored against Plantana, leading the St Cloud Raindrops to a 12-6 win at Pirates Park.

"I felt comfortable at the plate in a way I haven't felt all season," Bullinas said after the game. "It was like they were throwing beach balls at me. The ball seemed that big to me. And it just floated in."

José Bullinas doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Kazushige Takahashi in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, tripled in the 9th and singled in the 11th.

This year Bullinas is hitting .342 with 16 home runs and 62 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .432 clip and scored 54 runs.

Ahhh it's nice to be back in full control of my team. I made a lot of changes this off-season and even took a risk by placing my first round pick (#4 overall) SP Johnny Samuels straight into my big league rotation.

Looks like he is handling the pressure and even managed to land himself onto the All-Star roster!

Thursday, September 1st, 2016: Chris Rogers really strutted his stuff in August with 4 wins and no losses and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Republic League. The Ann Arbor starter was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition.

In 38.2 innings of work, Rogers limited opposing batters to 30 base hits and a .217 batting average. He totaled 33 strikeouts, issued 7 walks and had a 1.63 ERA.

Thus far this season, Rogers has tossed 163.2 innings in 30 starts, fanned 144 batters, walked 26 and put up a 2.86 ERA with 13 wins and 3 losses.

CL Premier Pitcher is St Cloud's Blondell

Thursday, September 1st, 2016: Question: Who was the #1 pitcher in the Continental League in August?
Answer: That would be Vince Blondell of the St Cloud Raindrops.
He excelled with a 4-0 mark and a 3.25 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 36 innings, fanned 22 and held opposing teams to a .259 average. That's exactly why the Continental League scribes voted him the Pitcher of the Month.

Blondell has made 27 starts so far this year and put up a 15-4 won-lost record with a 4.10 ERA. In 149.1 innings he has allowed 158 hits, walked 54 and struck out 101.

Cardinals Joo Hits 400th Homer
Friday, September 9th, 2016: Chicago Cardinals slugging first baseman Ling-lai Joo swatted his way to the 400 home run mark today as the Cardinals fell to the Stafford 7-6.

For his part, Joo chipped in 2 runs batted in, scored 2 runs and collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, but it was not enough to turn the tide.

"It was a special day for Ling-lai," the team publicist said afterward, "He was disappointed at the result, but everyone was all smiles as he crossed home plate. We're proud of him."

Lifetime Joo has hit for a .319 average and totaled 2247 hits, 400 home runs and 1353 RBIs.
