Ok here we go. Good luck to all teams this season!

Because I had to wake up at 4:30am for a global conference call this morning for work, I'm going to make this a little more abridged than normal. My apologies!

Francis April's Best Hurler in RL
Wednesday, May 1st, 2030: Tynan Francis hasn't been around the big leagues long enough to know that youngsters shouldn't be winning Republic League Pitcher of the Month. But when you put up numbers like his, you're going to get some notice.

In April the Las Vegas starter earned a 6-0 mark in 6 starts. He threw 41 innings, struck out 34 and compiled a solid 1.10 ERA.

Grant racked up a 4-2 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.11 ERA over 38.1 innings and striking out 36.

Martínez Joins Kings of Clout with #400
Sunday, May 12th, 2030: Ann Arbor defeated New York today 13-10 and took some of the joy out of Santiago Martínez's 400th career home run.

"I just wanted to get a good swing on the ball all day," Martínez said. "And I did."

Despite the loss, it was a good game for the 33-year-old Legends left fielder. He had 4 hits, scored 1 run and had 4 runs batted in.

The Wolverines manager said, "You could see he was aggressive up there. The worst thing we did was throw him a strike. It probably would have been better if threw the ball outside of the strike zone every time he came to the plate because he seemed like he was in a hurry to get it over with."

In his career Martínez is hitting .297 with 1712 hits, 400 home runs, 1043 runs scored and 1226 RBIs.

Pitcher of the Month Named in RL
Saturday, June 1st, 2030: Don King has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in May and stole away with the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Naps bullpen ace collected no saves and 18 strikeouts in 38.2 innings, holding the opposition to a .259 average and posting a 2.56 ERA and a 3-0 record.

This season King has no saves in no relief appearances with a 3-2 record and 3.78 ERA.

CL Pick for Top Pitcher in May is Grant
Saturday, June 1st, 2030: William Grant's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in May, the 28-year-old Plantana hurler has been named Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 37 in 32.1 innings, logged an ERA of 1.39 and allowed opponents to hit .195 against him.

In 11 starts this season Grant has notched a 8-2 record and a 1.78 ERA.

RL Batter of the Month Honors to Martínez
Saturday, June 1st, 2030: Santiago Martínez, the New York Legends left fielder, certainly made his name known to Republic League hurlers over the last month. He consistently introduced himself with hit after hit and came away with May's Republic League Batter of the Month award.

He slashed and bashed his way to a .333 batting average while tallying up 10 home runs, 39 RBIs and 17 runs scored. He also worked RL pitchers for 9 walks and a .378 on-base percentage.

In 53 games this year Martínez has posted a .329 average and put up these numbers: 17 home runs, 55 RBIs and 37 runs scored.

Dunse of St Louis CL Batter of the Month
Saturday, June 1st, 2030: Jim Dunse battered Continental League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Dunse told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 28 games, Dunse hit .330 with 5 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 22 runs.

Thus far this season Dunse has hit .306 with 11 home runs, 48 RBIs and scored 39 times.

New York Center Fielder Best RL Rookie
Saturday, June 1st, 2030: Rintaro Ota let his numbers do the talking in May. The New York Legends center fielder logged a .311 average as he laid claim to the Republic League Rookie of the Month Award.

He tallied 32 hits, 4 home runs, drove in 14 runs and scored 17 runs during his remarkable stretch.

Ota is swinging at a .266 pace on the year with 6 home runs, 25 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has played in 50 games.

St Louis Center Fielder May's #1 Rookie

Saturday, June 1st, 2030: Youngster Paolo Bottesini emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from St Louis deserved the honor, batting .372 with 1 home run and 15 runs batted in. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Bottesini enjoy the limelight.

Bottesini is currently batting .318 with 3 home runs, 27 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has 50 hits in 157 at-bats.

Naps Chávez Hits 500th Homer
Monday, June 24th, 2030: The Cleveland Naps defeated the Waikiki Beach Boys 13-5 yesterday in a game that featured Jorge Chávez's 500th career home run.

In the clubhouse, the Naps right fielder spoke about the milestone achievement. "To be honest, I don't even remember my first home run," he said. "But this one I don't think I'll forget. Who knows if I'll hit another hundred, or fifty, or even ten?"

On his historic day, Chávez banged out 2 hits in 5 at-bats and scored 2 runs with 5 RBI.

Chávez has a .292 career batting average and has hit a total of 501 home runs

RL Selects Gibbs June's Best Starter
Monday, July 1st, 2030: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Jim Gibbs still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in June. The 32-year-old starter for Las Vegas was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 5 wins and 1 loss with 23 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 2.01 ERA in 44.2 innings of work.

This season Gibbs has gone 9-5 with an ERA of 3.39, posting 75 strikeouts in 119.1 innings.

June's Top Hurler is Clark
Monday, July 1st, 2030: Clifton Clark hated to see June turn to July.
And who could blame him?
The 26-year-old hurler piled up 4 wins and no losses for the Terriers last month and won the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award for his efforts.

Clark stymied opposing batters on 29 base hits and a .180 batting average. He rang up 26 strikeouts in 46.1 innings of work, surrendered 20 walks and fashioned a sparkling 2.33 ERA.

In 18 starts this year Clark has posted 8 wins while suffering 4 losses. He has pitched 122.1 innings, allowed 109 hits, struck out 82 and has a 3.38 ERA.

Joly Wins RL's Best Bat Trophy
Monday, July 1st, 2030: Bob Joly of the Lions hit .379 in June with 11 home runs, 25 RBIs and 23 runs scored to capture a majority of votes for the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy.

The 32-year-old is in the last year of his contract and will undoubtedly use these numbers to try and bring in a huge pay raise.

Currently Joly is batting .327 with 26 home runs and 61 RBIs.

June's Best CL Hitter is Jim Dunse
Monday, July 1st, 2030: The Continental League has selected its Hitter of the Month for June and the honor went to Jim Dunse, St Louis's fine third baseman.

Dunse was selected after batting .429, hitting 9 home runs, scoring 24 runs and driving in 31.

This season Dunse is batting .348 with 20 home runs. He has scored 63 runs and driven in 79.

Cleveland First Baseman Best Rookie
Monday, July 1st, 2030: António Guerra is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In June the Cleveland hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .319 average with 23 hits, 13 home runs and 21 RBIs.

So far this year Guerra is batting .257 with 21 home runs.

Rookie Swinger Scores Big in June
Monday, July 1st, 2030: Javier Hernández earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Plantana first baseman might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Hernández hit .319 with 5 home runs, 25 RBIs and 19 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

So far this year Hernández has hit .306 with 7 home runs, 56 RBIs and 32 runs scored.

Ann Arbor Hexed: No-Hit by Anum
Wednesday, July 24th, 2030: The Portland Axemen relied on no-hit stuff from Kinfu Anum to defeat the Ann Arbor Wolverines 6-0 at Ann Arbor Grounds.

"It's quite a thrill," a candid Anum told the media afterward, "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."

To get his name logged in the RL records, he stopped Ann Arbor cold, with no hits, surrendering 2 walks and fanning 3 batters, facing only 29 batters.

Anum said in a postgame interview, "Games like this are something special. They don't come around very often, if ever. I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I just tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They are everywhere you look."

In a jovial mood, his manager kiddingly told the reporters, "He definitely made it easy for me today. I didn't have any great decisions to make like I usually have to do. Didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter. I love it when my pitchers pitch a no-hitter."

In 25 starts this season Anum has rung up a 9-6 record and a 4.22 ERA.

Final game of the season,

Plantana and SPring have both clinched homefield advantage in the Championship Series.

St. Louis has clinched a playoff spot.

Cleveland and Ann Arbor fight for the final playoff spot:

Cleveland 84-77
Ann Arbor 84-77
Waikiki 83-78

Cleveland and Ann Arbor play each other, so no matter if Waikiki wins, they can not claim the playoff spot. The winner of Cleveland vs Ann Arbor heads to the playoffs

Wow, I pulled off something I haven't done in quite a while, both my FOOL and FOOL-X teams made the playoffs in the same week! I'm pretty excited. Now we just need to take advantage of the situation.

Congrats to Cleveland, Plantana, and St. Louis as well.

Fernando Lopez might be the worst third overall pick in the history of FOOL.

Whew - just got in to the post season.

1B FA C.Carmelo was easily my best signing ever - he now hold the Naps single season record for BA @.370. (along with 32 HR's and 130 RBI).

GL to the teams in the playoffs....

For the first time since the 2015 All Star game, CL Charlie Lewis did not make the team. He had 14 years in a row as an All-Star before age caught up to him.
