Georgia Over Apex 2-0, 200-th Win for Rivera
Thursday, May 26th, 2095: His goal at twenty was to win twenty games one year, pitch until he was thirty, win the league pennant and to make some money. Well, Rodrigo Rivera did something even better -- the 35-year-old Georgia Devils star has now won 200 games in his career. That put him in a very select group of pitchers.

He joined that exclusive club today at Assasins Ballpark by whipping the Apex Assassins 2-0, holding them to 1 hit in 7 innings while chalking up 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.

In the postgame interview, the modest Rivera said, "It's special to win 200 games. You don't do it by yourself. You do it with good stuff and a good bullpen. You are only as good as the guys behind you. Years from now I might look back on it and give myself a little pat on the back."

Rivera's won-lost record is 200 wins and 152 losses with a 3.35 ERA and opposing hitters have compiled a .245 average against him.

#1 Republic League Newcomer Named
Friday, July 1st, 2095: Youngster Eric Weber emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Ann Arbor deserved the honor, batting .314 with 6 home runs and 22 runs batted in. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Weber enjoy the limelight.

This season Weber has 11 home runs and a .289 batting average.

Rookie Reels In Continental League Award
Friday, July 1st, 2095: Matt Lynn earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Apex right fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Lynn hit .394 with 1 home run, 5 RBIs and 12 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

Lynn has collected 63 hits for the Assassins this year, 2 of them home runs. He has also netted 16 RBIs and scored 27 runs while batting .326.

300 Homers for Mulholland
Monday, July 25th, 2095: Apex defeated Tokyo today 6-1 and took some of the joy out of Paul Mulholland's 300th career home run.

"I just wanted to get a good swing on the ball all day," Mulholland said. "And I did."

Despite the loss, it was a good game for the 36-year-old Cyclones first baseman. He had 2 hits, scored 1 run and had 1 run batted in.

The Assassins manager said, "You could see he was aggressive up there. The worst thing we did was throw him a strike. It probably would have been better if threw the ball outside of the strike zone every time he came to the plate because he seemed like he was in a hurry to get it over with."

Over his career Mulholland is batting .268 with 300 home runs and 1065 RBIs. In 1868 games he has delivered 1821 hits, scored 1089 runs, stolen 67 bases and gotten on base at a .382 clip.

Colorado's Starter Receives RL Pitching Award
Monday, August 1st, 2095: Whether Manuel Chihuahua stays in Colorado beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In July the 30-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

He put up some fancy numbers with a 4-0 record and and an ERA of 2.31. In 35 innings he struck out 24, surrendered 25 hits, 11 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 5 starts last month.

Thus far this season, Chihuahua has worked 115.1 innings with 58 strikeouts en route to a 5-8 record and a 6.01 ERA.

Calderón CL's #1 Pitcher in July
Monday, August 1st, 2095: As Manny Calderón hoisted up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy for July, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Apex once his contract is up at the end of the season.

Calderón put pressure on the Assassins to keep him around by posting a 3-1 record and an ERA of 1.18 over 38 innings last month. He also rolled up 31 strikeouts, increasing his value both to Apex and to every other team in the league.

This season in 20 starts Manny Calderón has a record of 11-4 with 98 strikeouts in 144 innings and a 2.38 ERA.

Gutiérrez Takes Best Bat Award in July
Monday, August 1st, 2095: Fernando Gutiérrez is on a tear! After posting a .353 average in July, the Chico center fielder took home the Republic League Batter of the Month award handed out earlier today.

Currently Gutiérrez is batting .292 with 20 home runs and 65 RBIs.

CL's Best Batter Announced
Monday, August 1st, 2095: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Paul Mulholland can still get it done in Front Office Offseason League. In fact, the 36-year-old first baseman for Tokyo was named the Continental League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In July he batted .448 with 8 home runs, 17 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Mulholland is presently hitting at a .285 pace with 15 home runs, 53 RBIs and has scored 52 times.

July's Outstanding RL Rookie Announced
Monday, August 1st, 2095: Francisco Prado is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In July the Hartford hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .345 average with 30 hits, 2 home runs and 16 RBIs.

Hitting .284 to date, Prado has 11 home runs and 43 RBIs. He has played in 97 games.

Halifax's Cao CL Rookie of Month
Monday, August 1st, 2095: In July, Lu-shan Cao had an exceptional month at the plate and hit his way to the Continental League Rookie of the Month award.

Last month the 26-year-old Halifax right fielder played in 15 games and hit .333 with 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. Cao also scored 7 times and drove in 10 runs.

Currently Cao is hitting .222 and has collected 2 home runs, 32 RBIs and scored 24 times, while playing in 73 games.

Monday, August 15th, 2095: It was a day of mixed emotions for Hammersmith second baseman Sjelle Visser, who collected his 2500th hit in the club's 3-2 loss to Ann Arbor. Hooligans and Winged Lingerines fans alike cheered Visser as he reached base after his milestone hit.

"I wish the score had been different," Visser said after the game, "but it was a great moment. The standing ovation was really special... even the fans wearing Winged Lingerines caps were cheering me."

Visser was 1-2 on the day.

Lifetime Visser has played in 2432 games, batted .281 with 27 home runs and 2500 base hits.

Cardenas Pitches Assassins to Shutout Win
Friday, August 19th, 2095: "It was just one of those games, when everything went right. I threw a lot of strikes," Miguel Cardenas said. "And the pitches they did get to hit, they didn't do anything with them."
