Windows 8
Interesting....
Some of the touch screen functionality looks neat, but I don't see myself wanting to use it over keyboard and mouse. Windows 8 Is Gorgeous, But Is It More Than Just A Shell? (Video) | LinkedIn |

I'm sure it's mostly just a shell, they've made no secret that they are not doing huge overhauls any more and getting a touch interface that can compete with Android and iOS is key. I'm sure it will be optional.
I hear fantastic things from everyone who has a Windows Mobile 7 phone, but I still can't get over the stigma associated with MS and any mobile OS. |

It looks like an OS that fully embraces the fact that it will be used on mobile devices.

Most reviews I've seen seem to take a "glass half empty" view of this being a shell on top of Windows. I've never quite understood why Windows should be as bad as they say for a tablet but the "glass half full" approach would surely be a tablet with the full functionality and backward compatibility of Windows.
