FOOL-X 2074 Regular Season Thread

Had a request to hold off for 10 minutes or so for an export, and then will get things started.

I'm completely tied up all day starting from one hour from now.. so depending on how long it takes to get through PMs, I might have to quick sim this morning. We will see how many rule violators I end up with

Alan, I forgot to send a PM...so I guess I'll do it here quickly on my phone. Should have an offer out there for a 3B. If I sign him, can you please plop him in my lineup/depth chart in the open 3b spot?

Thanks! Sorry, I just realized I never sent you one and was hoping it wasn't too late.

And if I didn't, just auto my lineups/depth charts. Not a huge deal.

Reilly Slugs 4 HR Against Raindrops
Tuesday, April 17th, 2074: Fans at Fog Bowl won't soon forget the display of raw power put on by Greg Reilly today in London's 12-11 victory over the Raindrops. He found his stroke and victimized St Cloud hurlers by smashing 4 balls out of the park -- a herculean effort that made his mark in Continental League history.

Reilly said to reporters after the game, "To be honest with you, I have never even thought about hitting this many home runs in a game. Only legends hit this many home runs in a game... and I ain't no legend."

His game totals were 4 for 5 with 5 runs scored and 6 RBIs. It was quite a day for the London right fielder.

The St Cloud manager told the press, "What he did was unbelievable. My pitchers gave it their best... he hit some fine pitches... but he was like... like he was in an automatic home run mode. He just had that great swing today. It didn't matter what we threw him. It was gone."

Greg Reilly grounded out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Javier García in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Javier García in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Joey Tucker in the 8th, walked in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off Leborio Noblet in the 10th.

This year Reilly has socked 21 hits in 62 at-bats for a .339 average with 8 home runs. He is getting on base at a .397 pace and his totals also include 23 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Richard Voted Best CL Pitcher in April

Tuesday, May 1st, 2074: Philippe Richard was the anchor in the St Louis bullpen last month and snatched up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors for April. The 32-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 11.2 innings over 10 relief appearances and collected a 2-0 record with 14 strikeouts and 8 saves while etching his 0.00 ERA.

Ríos Snags RL Batting Honor in April
Tuesday, May 1st, 2074: When guys like Spring's Raúl Ríos win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive April, the longtime Republic League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 39 hits in 99 at-bats.

The veteran center fielder hit for a .394 batting average and collected 5 home runs, 18 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

CL's #1 Batter Chosen

Tuesday, May 1st, 2074: Greg Reilly battered Continental League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around FOOL-X long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 35-year-old Reilly told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 27 games, Reilly hit .339 with 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and scored 22 runs.

Coates Reaches 2500 Milestone
Thursday, May 10th, 2074: He made it!
Cordell Coates got hit #2500! The Terriers left fielder got his milestone hit at Constitution Plaza against Washington. But it wasn't enough to bring home the victory. Stafford was beaten by the Freedom 8-7.

Coates's reaction to his accomplishment was nonchalant. He doffed his batting helmet to acknowledge the fans, who were chanting his name.

His manager said, "Cordell doesn't pay any attention to individual statistics, the only thing he cares about is winning. He will be more concerned that we lost the game."

Coates finished the game with 2 hits in 4 at-bats.

All-time Coates has played in 2333 games, batted .303 with 334 home runs and 2501 base hits.

Bendiola Takes RL Top Starter Trophy
Friday, June 1st, 2074: In May, Fernando Bendiola tore through the Republic League like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 24 years old.

The young Maricopa starter posted a 5-1 mark and an ERA of 2.23 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 44.1 innings he collected 19 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .223 average.

In season stats Bendiola shows a 7-2 record in 11 games, 78 innings, 41 strikeouts and a 2.08 ERA.

Valdéz Selected CL's Best Pitcher
Friday, June 1st, 2074: Alberto Valdéz has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in May and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Freedom bullpen ace collected 9 saves and 25 strikeouts in 16 innings, holding the opposition to a .169 average and posting a 1.13 ERA and a 1-0 record.

In 2074 Valdéz has totaled 24 relief appearances, worked 29 innings, struck out 41 and issued 6 walks. He has 13 saves and fashioned a 1.24 ERA and a 2-0 won-lost mark.

Labranche Gets RL Batter of the Month Trophy
Sunday, July 1st, 2074: There's nothing like putting up good, solid numbers in the last year of your contract. Today Marc-André Labranche helped his contract negotiations by nabbing June's Republic League Batter of the Month honors.

The New York first baseman put together a .341 batting average with 9 home runs, 30 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Someone will surely be opening up the vault this offseason if Labranche continues at this brisk pace.

Looking at his season stats, Labranche has compiled a .242 batting average and a .331 on-base percentage, while hitting 15 home runs and driving in 54 runs.

Rodríguez June's Best Bat Choice

July's RL Batter of Month Award Announced
Wednesday, August 1st, 2074: Jake Wright really smoked the ball in July on his way to Batter of the Month honors in the Republic League.

The New York right fielder hit .368 with 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 19 runs scored to round out his great month.

For the year Wright is batting .296 with 20 home runs.

Raphaël Brassard is July's #1 Hitter in CL

Wednesday, August 1st, 2074: Raphaël Brassard received the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month.

"He might be getting older," Washington's manager told reporters, "But he's been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together... and he doesn't keep that to himself. He's always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping 'em any way they'll let him. Raphaël's value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field."

To win the honor Brassard put up a .320 batting average, 9 home runs, 17 RBIs and scored 22 times in July.

So far this season Brassard has hit .246 with 24 home runs, 53 RBIs and and scored 78 times.

2500th Hit for Ríos
Sunday, September 9th, 2074: Raúl Ríos was bubbling over with joy, celebrating his 2500th hit in the Spring 5-4 victory over the Rattlers at Rattlers Ballpark.

"I learned what hard work, focus, dedication, and opportunity can do. This is how it pays off."

The 33-year-old center fielder achieved that milestone with 2 hits in 4 at-bats to join the exclusive 2500-hit club.

His manager said, "Raúl plays the same every day and every inning -- with all his heart. That's why he's such a special player."

Ríos is batting .350 with 2501 career base hits, including 467 doubles, 66 triples and 140 home runs with 1017 RBIs and 1111 runs scored. He has played in 1823 games, stolen 203 bases and compiled a .414 OBP.

400 Home Runs for Joseph
Saturday, September 15th, 2074: At Morales Field II Ben Joseph smashed his 400th career home run in a game against New York today. The 35-year-old designated hitter had a hand in the Spring Lions 4-1 victory with 1 home run and 3 RBI. For the day he went 1 hit-4 at-bats.

At the press conference after the game, Joseph downplayed his achievement.

"Obviously, I've hit 400 home runs so I belong in that 400 club. But when you talk about the other guys that have done it, I'm not as good as they were. Those guys were the greatest of all time. I've just been able to scrape together some good years and stayed healthy and gotten there."

Lifetime Joseph has connected for 400 home runs, hit .267 and driven in 1275 runs.
