A happy pet story

An extended member of our pet "family" (he is an offspring of our 2 Min Pins) who is now with one of our friends in Georgia and had been having Pancreatitis for about a year. Our friend has spent quite a bit of money on meds and tests and it kept reoccurring.

This past Saturday he quit eating and drinking and she took him to the vet yesterday. The issue was again with the Pancreas, only this time it had not responded to the meds. The vet told her they could do surgery, but there was no guarantee they could help him and the surgery was expensive. She was wrestling with what to do and had decided she was going to have him put down as the prognosis was not sure with surgery and he would die slowly and painfully without it.

I was devastated when my wife told me as I was attached to all of the pups, even though they all went to homes of friends eventually. I wasn't told until late in the day, which made it worse as I would have been more than willing to help with the cost of surgery.

At that point I thought it was too late, then my wife received a text that she had found a cheaper vet and was having the surgery done this morning. Well we just got word that a pebble had lodged in his Pancreas and tissue had built up around it. He is out of surgery and expected to make a full recovery after literally coming within a hour of so of being put down.

Min Pins are tough little Dogs and I have no doubt he will be fine now and it just made my day to get this news, so I wanted to share with the pet lovers on the board

Sometimes I think I love animals way too much LOL.

w0rd.

Our almost 11 year old boy min pin has had herniated discs twice now, and he's fought through them with no surgery and is fine now.
