The Sport of Kings
This thread will follow my "attempt" to create a successful stable of winners.
I am using simhorseracing.com and I am by far a total newbie when it comes to horse racing. The game starts off with you in control of your own stable and $100K in cash. They also start you out with a jockey and a single horse. We'll see you all track side! KING'S STABLE GOOGLE DOC

I'm currently on a spending freeze with the end of the year occurring next week. I don't see much benefit in purchasing any more horses that will be aging a year after Friday.
The game then goes into a two week hiatus as the calendar turns over, so we this dynasty will have a very slow start to it. Of course, we do have 4 races next week!

The Shadow Hunter - Week 16 (MON) - Trial Park (CAN), Condition: Firm, 7 Furlongs, Turf, 3+ Yr Old, Maiden Special Weight. Purse $15K
First up for King's Stable is The Shadow Hunter. This is the horse who was given to us to start the game and has no pedigree to look back upon. We have a full field today of 12 horses all looking for that first victory. The race features only 3 horses that have run prior to this evening with Kora's Knight finishing top 3 in 5 of 9 races and Cool As Cole finishing top 3 in 1 of his 2 races. The horses are all in the gates now and THEY ARE OFF... Son of Shaft breaks out early a head in front of Shadow who is followed closely by Kora's Kinght and Rogue In Red with The Shadow Hunter sitting in 12th... As they head into the turn Shadow is now in front by a quarter length over Son of Shaft who is a nose in front of Kora's Knight. Cool As Cole is 5 1/4 lengths back from there with The Shadow Hunter still running 13 lengths off the lead in 12th... At the top of the back stretch, the few hundred fans in attendance rise to their feet to check out the action. Son of Shaft retakes the lead in his debut race. 1 1/4 lengths back is Kora's Knight with Shadow now in 3rd (2 1/2 lengths back). Cool As Cole, Habib and the fading Rogue In Red round out the top 6. The Shadow Hunter is now in 10th as a couple of horses fade (15 lengths off the lead)... At the wire it is... . . . SON OF SHAFT!!! A winner in his debut. (1:24.98) He is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** Kora's Knight (1 1/4) Cool As Cole (1) Habib (2 1/4) Shadow (3 1/4) Rogue In Red (3 1/2) Hot N Dreamy (2 1/2) Fiddles Missle (2) The Shadow Hunter (2) Kentucky Knocker (1 1/4) Blackpearl (2) Blackstallionracer (3 3/4) I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that The Shadow Hunter race on dirt next time out. The race notes suggested that he broke clean, but that our jockey was holding him up a bit. He also was even around the turn and was not able to gain much on the field.

Soul Sister - Week 16 (MON) - Futurity Park (FL), Condition: Firm, 6 Furlongs, Turf, 2 Yr. Old, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $15K
Up next we have Soul Sister. She has two races under her belt, but has not raced since week 5 where she finished 3rd. She was bred to be a turf sprinter. We have a a field of 8 fillies with Dodged The Storm, Romanceofthelight and Tremendous Slouch have all landed on the podium before. The horses break from the gates and grass flies up everywhere. Dodged The Storm is out in front trailed by Just Elemental, Frill and Vihuela. Soul Sister broke cleanly but is back in 7th (3 1/2 lengths back)... As the horses enter the turn Dodged The Storm has increased her lead to 3 1/2 lengths over Just Elemental who is followed by Frill and Vihuela. Soul Sister still sits in 7th (8 3/4 lengths off the lead)... And down the stretch they come! Dodged The Storm is in command, 4 1/2 lengths ahead of Frill, Romanceofthelight runs in 3rd. Soul Sister has a bit of a wide turn but has moved up into 6th place (6 1/2 lengths off the lead)... At the wire it is... . . . DODGED THE STORM!!! Although the pack certainly made up some ground late. (1:11.04) She is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** Romanceofthelight (1 1/2) Frill (1 1/2) Soul Sister (1 1/2) Vihuela (1 1/2) Just Elemental (1 1/2) Crianza (1 3/4) Tremendous Slouch (6) Soul Sister earns a cool $1,050 for her efforts in this one. She managed to make a strong move down the stretch to finish 4 1/2 lengths back plus she tired out a bit at the end. We might try her at 6F again, but 5F is a possibility as well. I'm also hoping that the slow start was due to rust with her long layoff.

Extraterrestrial - Week 16 (MON) - Mexico Racecourse (MEX), Condition: Fast, 5 Furlongs, Dirt, 3+ Yr Old, Allowance, Purse $15K
Extraterrestrial is our most experienced thoroughbred and we cannot wait to see what this horse will do. He did run just under two weeks ago so but he his history suggests that he likes to run often. This is his first allowance race which should attract some strong competition. The field features 9 horses: Savage History (21: 6-7-3), Moves After Dark (16: 2-5-1), Cherry Smash (13: 3-6-0), Cannonize (11: 3-1-3), Test Week (10: 1-0-0), Jackwagon (16: 4-1-4), After You Hot Shot (6: 2-0-0), Storm of the Soul (21: 9-4-2), Extraterrestrial (11: 2-4-2) The horses break from the gates and Storm of the Soul is in front by a head over Extraterrestrial with Cherry Smash and Cannonize behind him... At the turn, Storm of the Soul has increased his lead to two lengths ahead of Cherry Smash, followed by Extraterrestrial and Cannonize... The horses begin to head for home and it looks like Storm of the Soul is still out in front, 1/2 lengths behind is Cherry Smash and Cannonize and Extraterrestrial have swapped places... The winner is... . . . CHERRY SMASH! (0:58.22) He is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** Storm of the Soul (1) Cannonize (1) Savage History (2 1/4) Extraterrestrial (1 1/2) Movies After Dark (1) Jackwagon (2 1/4) After You Hot Shot (1 3/4) Test Week (2 1/4) Extraterrestrial showed he has speed and can run competitively with experienced horses. He did fade a bit late, but we will need to see if it was due to our jockey or he may have just been tired. He earned $300 for this effort.

Hidden Talents - Week 16 (TUES) - Last Resort Park (AK), Condition: Firm, 6.5 Furlongs, Turf, 2 Yr Old, Maiden Claiming, Purse $5K
Hidden talents is still looking for that first check and this could be the race. His sire never raced, but his pedigree indicates he should do well in longer races. His two previous races were under 6F's and both were Stakes races so he was definitely overwhelmed. Not quite sure what his owner was thinking. We have a small 6 horse field that contains 4 with prior podium finishes. BRRRRRRRINNGGGGG. Hank Senior breaks quickly followed by Shaking Ground, Level Best, C Shade, A Big Amount with Hidden Talents bringing up the rear (4 1/2 lengths behind the leader)... At the turn, Shaking Ground has moved to the front, Hank Senior runs in second with Level Best up in third. Hidden Talents is now 10 lengths back in last... As the field heads for home, Shaking Ground remains out in front, Hank Senior is 1/2 length back with Level Best and A Big Amount also charging hard. Hidden Talents is now 7.5 lengths back, but still in last. And at the line... . . . it is A BIG AMOUNT!!! He came from two lengths back at the top of the stretch to win going away. (1:14.50) He is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** Shaking Ground (2) Hank Senior (1) Level Best (1 1/4) C Shade (1 1/2) Hidden Talents (1 1/4) Hidden Talents will need to run in longer races going forward. It certainly seems like he does not have early speed, but could have the ability to close late.

Born To Be Bold - Week 16 (FRI) - Futurity Park (FL), Condition: Fast, 1 1/8 Miles, Dirt, 2 Yr Olds, Fillies, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $15K
I know I said Born To Be Bold wouldn't race until next year, but I changed my mind . Let's see if I regret the decision to "play with my toys" rather than manage the horse smartly. It looks like we have a full 12 horse field here in Florida on the last race day of the season. 7 of these fillies have a podium finish on their record. And here we go again...Sought Risks jumps out quickly followed by Landing On Jupiter, You Know The Risk, Indy Star and Miss Gunslinger. Born To Be Bold is in 10th (5 1/2 lengths off the lead)... On the backstretch, Sought Risks stays in front, Landing On Jupiter, You Know The Risk, Indy Star and Miss Gunslinger all maintain their positions... As we head for home, Sought Risks still has a 1 length lead over a charging Indy Star. Miss Gunslinger stays on Indy Star's coattails with Landing On Jupiter fading back and Trinity now up to fifth. Born To Be Bold has fallen well off the pace and is now in 12th (13 1/4 lengths off the lead)... The winner in Florida is... . . . INDY STAR!!! He finishes driving to the line and probably would have continued to increase his victory if the race was longer. (1:50.01) He is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** Sought Risks (1 1/4) Miss Gunslinger (1) Trinity (1) Shouttothenorth (1 1/2) Landing On Jupiter (1) California Cowgirl (1) You Know The Risk (1 1/2) Failtobeawake (1 1/2) Well To The East (1 1/2) The Letter B (3) Born To Be Bold (1 1/2) Well....I guess we should have held off on racing this filly. She ends up 15 3/4 lengths behind the leader.

I have created a google doc to make things easier to track for myself and to hopefully present anyone reading this with more info. This link will be placed in post number one from here on out and I will make note when it is updated.
I'll be adding more and more to this spreadsheet over the next week or two and also plan to still do the writeups for the races, purchases and going on's at King's Stable. A few explanations on the spreadsheet: Sire, Dam or Dam Sire highlighted in Silver has won a season long award at some point during their career. Sire, Dam or Dam Sire highlighted in the darker Silver with Bold lettering is a HOF horse in the sim. Sire, Dam or Dam Sire highlighted in Green has won a Triple Crown race. LINK Please feel free to ask any questions about the horses or info that is or will be in the spreadsheet. Last edited by kingfc22 : 05-30-2012 at 10:23 PM. |

Season 33, Week 1 Update:
We purchased another two year old gelding, Hush Secret. We also received 5 yearlings for free thanks to one of the veteran members on the forums. These horses will be added to my spreadsheet linked in post #1. We also had 4 horses make their season 33 debut on the track. Those recaps to follow shortly.

Birmingham Jam - Week 1 (MON) - Hipodromo Brazil (BRZ) Condition: Firm, 4 furlongs, Turf, 2 Yr. Old, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $10K
This Gelding kicks off our first full race season. The field is small with only 4 horses making the trip to Brazil for their maiden race. The gates open and Birmingham Jam gets out quickly and grabs the early lead. He is in front by 3/4 lengths over Please Be Okay... At the halfway point, Birmingham Jam is still out in front and has increased his lead to 1 1/2 lengths over Please Be Okay who is 1 length out in front of Keep It Fast... With 1 furlong to go, Keep It Fast has charged up and is now a neck ahead of Birmingham Jam. Please Be Okay is 1/4 lengths behind in 3rd... At the wire, it is... Keep It Fast!!! He dominates the last part of the race and wins going away. (47.78) He is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** No Poaching (1 3/4) Please Be Okay (1) Birmingham Jam (1 1/2) As I look closer at the races available, it looks like 2 Yr. Olds were able to enter into 2F, 4F and 4 1/2F races. I probably should have entered BJ in a 2F race since he is a sprinter, even though 4F-6F will be his eventual difference as he matures. BJ does earn $700 for his effort.

Blondeinahotel - Week 1 (FRI) - Arcadia Park (CA), Condition: Fast, 4 1/2 furlongs, Dirt, 2 Yr. Old, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $15K
Another one of our horses takes to the track for the first time. Blondeinahotel is up against 8 other horses. She breaks from the gate smoothly, but at the turn it is Djamila, Quick and Impressive Babe. Blondeinahotel is steady back in 9th, 3 1/4 lengths off the lead... At the midpoint in the race, the top 3 remain the same and Blondeinahotel continues to run steady in the back of the pack, but now she is 8 1/4 lengths off the pace... And the horses are entering the top of the backstretch, Quick has now moved to the lead. She is 1/2 lengths ahead of Djamila and VIP has moved up from 5th to now run in 3rd. Blondeinahotel is still in 8 1/4 lengths back in 9th... The fans in the stands rise to their feet as the horses rumble towards the finish line... And our winner in CA is... QUICK!!! This filly ran a great race from start to finish and definitely deserved the victory. (53.11) She is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** VIP (1) Djamila (1 1/2) Forged By Flames(1) Le Patissier (1 1/2) Lieserl (1 1/4) Impressive Babe (2) Blondeinahotel (1 1/4) Gemini (2) Blondeinahotel was clearly outclassed today as she finishes 9 1/2 lengths back from the winner. She is not one of our top horses, but hopefully as the better 2 year olds move up she will be able to earn us some money.

Hush Secret - Week 1 (FRI) - Child's Play Park (CAN), Condition: Fast, 4F, Dirt, 2 Yr. Old, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $12K
Our most recent purchase, albiet for $1, Hush Secret makes her debut in Canada. We have a field of 8 horses ready to run... As the horses break, Battle jumps to the lead followed by A Cold Goodbye and Donald Trump. Hush Secret makes his way to our jockey's (Javier Vargas) favorite position which of course is the rear of the pack, 4 1/2 lengths behind... As we enter the middle of the turn, the lead pack remains the same and our hero, Hush Secret, has faded well behind. 10 1/4 lengths back of the leader, 6 lengths back of the 7th placed horse... The pace quickens as the jockeys push their horses as they enter the race for home. Battle is still out in the front ahead of A Cold Goodbye. Mr. Sweet has traded positions with Donald Trump and now sits in 3rd. Hush Secret is still dead last, now 11 1/4 lengths behind the leader... Our winner from start to finish is BATTLE!!! This horse takes the $6000 prize with a wire to wire victory. (46.28) He is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** Mr. Sweet (1) A Cold Goodbye (1) Donald Trump (1 1/4) Deepest Passion (1 1/2) Hail the Heroes (1 1/4) Impressive Hope (4) Hush Secret (2 1/2) Not our best showing in this one as Hush Secret was never in contention.

Picnic in the Park - Week 1 (FRI) - Juvenile Acres (AUS), Condition: Firm, 4 1/2F, Turf, 2 Yr. Old, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $20K
Picnic in the Park is our last hope during this opening week. She is racing in her home country of Australia and faces 6 other horses today. The gates open and Picnic in the Park falls to her knees and just like that our hopes for this one our dashed. She does get up and is able to finish the race. Luckily she is not injured. MERRY CHRISTMAS is our winner as she leads wire to wire. (52.79) She is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** Chemical X (1 1/2) Boogle Bash (1) Ashgabat (3) A Star With Spirit (1 1/2) A J Virginia (1 1/4) Picnic in the Park (3)

Game Status: Year 33, Week 2
King's Stable: Cash: $132,773 Trainer Stats for Year 33: 4 : 0-0-0 Earnings: $700 | Breeder Awards: $0 Stakes Wins: 0 | Maiden Wins: 0 | 2 Year Old Wins: 0 So our first week does not go well at all, but we can look for some positives. Birmingham Jam as shown early speed and we will him in a 2F race next. Picnic in the Park fell so we have to take her result with a grain of salt. If you take a look at the Y33 Racing Barn tab in my spreadsheet you will see the schedule for the horses. Week 2 will see three horses in action including two of our most promising thoroughbreds.

Beaten Off Da Path - Week 2 (MON) - Artificial Arena (IL), Condition: Fast, 1 3/16M, AW, 4+ Yr. Old, $25K Claiming NW3, Purse $12K
Beaten Off Da Path makes his debut for King's Stables this evening. He is one of our 3 horses that has a win under his belt. A field of 10 horses is led by: Depth Charge (8:1-2-2), Five Strikes (9:1-2-2), The Dream Play (10:1-3-0), Green Tie (12:2-2-3), Into The West (14:1-2-6), and El Seductor (11:1-1-3). The gates swing open in Illinois and Beaten Off Da Path breaks well. He strides down the main straightaway in front of the crowd and leads the pack heading into the first turn. He's a half length out in front of The Dream Play who is followed by Five Strikes and Sir James Paul... The horses continue to rumble around the track and at the midpoint, it is still Beaten Off Da Path. He is now 1 1/2 lengths out ahead of The Dream Play, Five Strikes is 1 1/4 lengths back of second and 3 lengths behind him sits Green Tie... As the horses exit the final turn, Beaten Off Da Path has increased his lead to 2 lengths over The Dream Play. Five Strikes and Green Tie are now neck and neck with each other... The next few seconds feel like an eternity as our horse leads the pack closer and closer to the finish. At the line... It... is... BEATEN OFF DA PATH!!! He is able to go wire to wire in 1:56.65 to give us our first victory and the $6000 prize. His career earnings are now $28,410. He is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** Green Tie (1) The Dream Play (1 1/2) Into The West (1 1/4) Five Strikes (1) El Seductor (1) Scientific Dream (1) Depth Charge (1) Get Up One Time (3 1/4) Sir James Paul (1 1/4)

Glares - Week 2 (TUES) - Penny Pincher Park (AK), Condition: Good, 5 1/2F, D, 3 Yr. Old, $15K Claiming NW2, Purse $12K
Glares makes his debut for us against six other horses: No Danger (6: 1-0-0), Transcendents (5: 1-1-0), Ice Cream Man (6: 1-1-1), Mustang Pride (6: 1-2-0), Mud Slide (6: 1-0-2), Look Like Ucare (6: 1-2-3). Glares has one victory in his career which was in his maiden race back in season 32, week 2. The horses break from the gate and Ice Cream Man, Transcendents and Look Like Ucare lead the way. Glares sits back in fifth 2 3/4 lengths back... At the halfway point, Glares still remains in fifth, but has now fallen 5 3/4 lengths back of the leader, Ice Cream Man. Transcendents and Look Like Ucare remain 2nd and 3rd... At the top of the straightaway, Ice Cream Man has a 2 1/4 length lead over Transcendents and Look Like Ucare. Glares has charged up into 4th place and now sits 2 1/2 lengths back of the leader... The horses come to the wire and the winner is... GLARES!!! What a come from behind victory as he wins in with a time of 1:05.10 and we have won back to back races. Glares wins the $6K first prize and his career earnings are up to $24,760. He is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** Ice Cream Man (1) Look Like Ucare (1) Mustang Pride (1) Transcendents (1) Mud Slide (1 1/2) No Danger (2)

Tiki Fleet- Week 2 (THUR) - Penny Pincher Park (AK), Condition: Firm, 1M, 3 Yr. Old, $32K Maiden Claiming, Purse $12K
Tiki Fleet makes his first start for us and only his second overall. He's in a full field of 12 horses. Only a few of these other horses have a podium finish on their records: Freeklin (2: 0-1-0), Baby Lonhro (2: 0-0-1), Caifas (4: 0-1-1), Bill to Ben (4: 0-0-1), Threat Level (3: 0-0-2). The race starts with a good pace and the field is still tight after two furlongs. Caifas is 1/4 length ahead of Bill to Ben, followed by Threat Level who is 3/4 lengths back of second. Tiki Fleet sits in 10th but is only 2 lengths back of the leader... At the midway point, Caifas still is out in front over Bill to Ben. Holy Mineapple has swapped spots with Threat Level and Tiki Fleet remains back in 10th. He is now 6 lengths back of the leader... As the field turns for home, Caifas is still our leader, followed by Bill to Ben, Threat Level, Eternally Bold and then Tiki Fleet. He found some room on the inside and was finally able to run to move to within 4 1/2 lengths of the leader... At the wire, we have a clear winner and it is... CAIFAS!!! He wins his first race going wire-to-wire in 1:36.25. He is followed by: ***Horse (Lengths back from previous horse)*** Bill to Ben (1 1/4) Tiki Fleet (2) Threat Level (1 1/4) Eternally Bold (1 1/4) Follow Along (1 3/4) Baby Lonhro (1 1/4) Freeklin (1 1/2) Tearful Song (1) Holy Mineapple (1 1/2) Animal Arithmetic (2 1/2) Alaskan River (1 1/2) A very solid run by Tiki Fleet as he just kept getting better as the race went on. He collects $1200 for his first time on the board.

Time to get caught up with shorter write ups...
Omaha Fortune- Week 2 (FRI) - New Orleans Park (LA), Condition: Fast, 4 1/2f, 2 Yr. Old, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $10K 10 horses made their debut in this race. Omaha Fortune broke well and was in 3rd at the half way point, but 4 3/4 lengths back of first. He took the final turn a bit wide and paid for it as he fell to 8th at the finish. He finished 8 3/4 lengths back. Winner: Close to the Proof (53.14) Atavism - Week 3 (MON) - Run Away Park (CAN), Condition: Fast, 5f, 2 Yr. Old, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $10K 9 fillies in this one with only a single horse that has seen action. Atavism breaks outwards and sees herself in 6th at the midway point, but she is only 3 1/2 lengths behind the leader. She fades a bit back as the horses run down the homestretch and finishes 8th overall. She ends up 11 1/4 lengths behind the victor. Winner: Look for Gold (58.48) Born To Be Bold - Week 3 (MON) - Trial Park (CAN), Condition: Firm, 1m, 3 Yr. Old, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $15K Blame this one on the owner. Born To Be Bold was bred to race on dirt and I made the mistake of accidentally entering him in a turf race. Needless to say, he was a non-factor going wire to wire in last place. Winner: Blind (1:36.59) Extraterrestrial - Week 3 (MON) - Trial Park (CAN), Condition: Fast, 6 1/2f, 4 Yr. Olds +, NW3, Purse $12K A small field of 5 horses turn out today which bodes well as Extraterrestrial is one of 3 horses that we own that has a victory on his record. The class in this field is also favorable as no other horse has landed OTB 50% of the time as our gelding has. Extraterrestrial breaks smoothly from the gate and into the lead. With 3 furlongs left, Extraterrestrial is in the lead by a length over Hjulstrom and the rest of the field is at minimum 8 lengths back of that. Extraterrestrial looks very comfortable and is under little stress as our jockey does not need to push him to secure the win. This is his 3rd career victory and pushes his career earnings over $40K. Winner: Extraterrestrial (1:14.98) Hidden Talents - Week 3 (MON) - Trial Park (CAN), Condition: Firm, 1m, 3 Yr. Olds, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $15K Hidden Talents makes his second start for us. We're going to extend him to a mile today as he has had little to no success in shorter distances. He starts clean, but gets caught up a bit in the pack. At the middle pole, he sits in 6th place with the top 3 horses WAY out in front. He makes up one position on his way to a 5th place finish but he does look a bit tired. We'll have to give him another shot at the mile to see if he can build the endurance. His 5th place finish is 5 lengths back of the leader which is good considering he was 13 1/4 lengths back at the midway point. His 5th place finish earns him $300 in winnings. Winner: Handy Manny (1:36.75)

Soul Sister - Week 3 (MON) - Dashing Downs (KS), Condition: Firm, 6f, 3 Yr. Olds, $12.5K Maiden Claiming, Purse $15K
A full field of 12 fillies will give my favorite filly, Soul Sister, a good contest. Last time out she started off slow and made up ground to finish 4th. She breaks out of the gates well and is able to get position on the rail which is important with this large field. At 3f, she is is positioned in 6th (8 1/4 lengths behind the leader). As they make the turn for home, she has moved up to 4th and our jockey urges her to push going to the line. Soul Sister finishes OTB in 3rd place just 2 3/4 lengths off the pace. She earns a nice $1500 for this one and we may look to push her to go 6 1/2f to 7f next time out as she has shown the ability to close. Winner: Dirty Tackle (1:10.90) The Shadow Hunter - Week 3 (MON) - Phoenix Racecourse (AZ), Condition: Fast, 1m, 3 Yr. Olds +, $20K Maiden Claiming, Purse $10K With no pedigree to look back upon, we give The Shadow Hunter a chance on the dirt to see if he can improve on his 9th place finish on the turf to end the last season. A field of 11 horses ran this race and The Shadow Hunter never stood a chance. He finishes dead last a whooping 31 lengths off the pace. Hell, he was 16 lengths behind 10th place. On the bright side, we know he is likely a turf horse. Winner: Tough Shot (1:38.15) Picnic In The Park - Week 3 (FRI) - Juvenile Acres (AUS), Condition: Firm, 5 1/2f, 2 Yr. Olds, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $15K A small 4 horse field in this Aussie bred only race. Picnic In The Park fell coming out of the gates in her first race so we're not quite sure what to expect. The good news is she didn't stumble, the bad news is that she was a little outclassed by the rest of this small field. She does earn $1050 for her 4th place finish even though she was 10 3/4 lengths back of the winner. Winner: A Little Rhythm (1:04.56) Hush Secret - Week 4 (MON) - Child's Play Park (CAN), Condition: Fast, 5 1/2f, 2 Yr. Olds, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $12K A 10 horse field awaits Hush Secret. He was rather unimpressive his first time out finishing 8th in a field of 8. This race starts and Hush Secret breaks out rather sluggishly and sits in the back of the pack. Halfway through, he still sits in 10th (11 1/4 lengths back of the leader). As he crosses the line, Hush Secret is unable to improve his position. 11 1/2 lengths behind the leader and a 10th place finish puts Hush Secret's career with us in jeopardy. Winner: Too Quick To Catch (1:04.95) Birmingham Jam - Week 4 (TUES) - Last Resort Park (AK), Condition: Soft, 3f, 2 Yr. Olds, $500 Maiden Claiming, Purse $5K Birmingham Jam showed speed early his first time out, so we enter him in a nice short 3f race to see if he can take advantage of it. Unfortunately, he stumbles a bit coming out of the gate. I'm not sure if this is due to the poor weather or now. With 1 1/2f to go, he does run in 3rd (1 3/4 lengths back). At the line, BJ tires out and finishes in 5th (5 lengths back). He does earn $100 for this finish and we'll try to get him in another short race. Hopefully, the stumble and the low endurance were due to wet surface. Winner: Cobalt Man (36.67) Blondeinahotel - Week 4 (TUES) - Penny Pincher Park (AK), Condition: Fast, 5 1/2f, 2 Yr. Olds, $4K Maiden Claiming, Purse $12K Another one of our horses that failed to impress in their debut goes out for race #2. Blondeinahotel makes it two for two in her attempt to retire early. This 10 horse field never had to worry as she finishes dead last in 10th (12 1/2 lengths behind the winner). Winner: Mort De Path (1:05.06)

We also successfully claimed Smile In The Snow. He has run 8 times so far and has a record of 8: 2-5-1.
He only cost us $8K and we hope to make that up in no time based on his past performances. I'm going to post the week 5 results and then I'll upload the latest excel doc with all the stats.

Week 5 Race Recaps:
Beaten Off Da Path - Week 5 (MON) - Sunday Park (GBR), Condition: Fast, 1 3/16f, 3 Yr. Olds +, NW3 Lifetime, Purse $12K Beaten Off Da Path faces a field of 8 horses in this one. He's coming off a victory in this same distance so we hope to see a good result. He gets off to a good start and continues strong to lead at the half way pole. He's a neck in front of Disney, another 1/2 length back is Warmhearted and 3+ lengths back in 4th is Highlight Shot. Unfortunately, Beaten Off Da Path starts to fade back a bit and as our jockey urges him on, there is nothing left to give as he comes to the wire. Our horse finishes up in 5th place (6 1/4 lengths behind the eventual winner). Winner: Aztec Crown (1:56.23) I've been running most horses every 3rd week, but I might see if the distance horses need to be run every 4th week. He also may have tired out due to the travel from the US to GBR. Glares - Week 5 (MON) - Lincoln Park (NE), Condition: Good, 6f, 3 Yr. Olds, "Vapor Stakes", Purse $50K Another one of our horses that is coming off of a victory will run in this one. We decide to see just how far we can push Glares as we enter him in a stakes race. He breaks outward from the gate and settles in, but is really never a threat. He is able to past one horse down the final stretch to finish 4th in a field of six. The winner was 5 1/2 lengths ahead at the line. He does earn $3500 for this run, so can't really be too upset about this one. Winner: Abjured (1:09.87) Omaha Fortune - Week 5 (MON) - Futurity Park (FL), Condition: Fast, 5 1/2f, 2 Yr. Olds, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $15K Just like his last time out, Omaha Fortune gets out of the gates well and is near the front for the first half of the race. He then hits that "wall" and fades to the back to finish a disappointing 10th in a field of twelve. He finished 11 1/4 lengths behind the victor and we will look to place him in a sprint race next time. Winner: Bona Fortuna (1:05.15) Tiki Fleet - Week 5 (MON) - Trial Park (CAN), Condition: Fast, 1 1/16m, 3 Yr. Olds +, Maiden Special Weight, Purse $15K An 11 horse field will run this one. Tiki Fleet had impressive outing closing from 10th to 3rd in the last half of his previous race. Tiki Fleet starts this one pretty similar to the last race as he sits in 7th and the first two markers. As he rounds the final turn, he sits in 5th (3 1/4 lengths off the lead). Again, he is able to make a charge down the final two furlongs and finishes in 3rd (2 1/4 lengths back of the winner)! He earns $1500 for this run and we certainly are looking at Tiki Fleet as one of our favorites to win our first maiden race. Winner: Cumbre (1:44.51)

Going to go with a new race reporting style. I'm going to try and post a preview for each race and then go back and edit it with the results post-race.

This will run out soon if I remember correctly and at this point I'm just trying to build a nice nest egg until I can get consistent earners. Week 6 will also bring us the first leg of the Triple Crown which will run on Friday. Here's to hoping King's Stable is represented someday.
