It's a combination of good hands, knowing how to play the hitters, all-out hustle and a willingness to sacrifice your body to make a play. Good speed and a good arm never hurt, either, but not always required. This year's all-defense team in the Republic League consists of:

Centeno Snares CL Kien-lung Teng Award
Monday, November 9th, 2099: Braz Centeno put together some impressive numbers for Washington to garner enough votes for the Continental League Kien-lung Teng Award.

The Freedom second baseman took the honor by hitting .287 in 162 games this season and finishing with 179 hits, 23 home runs, 90 RBIs and 86 runs scored.


Republic League Selects #1 Rookie
Monday, November 9th, 2099: Juan Luna's age didn't show very often in his first year. He performed more like a veteran on the hill for the Ann Arbor Wolverines and today he walked away with the 2099 Republic League Kien-lung Teng Award.

The 25-year-old starter registered a 20-8 record this season in 32 starts. Over 218.1 innings he gave up 210 hits, struck out 179 and issued 35 walks as he held the opposition to a .244 batting average and fashioned a 3.01 ERA.

Continental League Top Pitcher Selected
Wednesday, November 11th, 2099: It was as good as money in the bank when Phil Conboy took the hill for Oshawa. He paid his club back with interest this season with a superb 13-8 mark, collecting the Continental League Mauro Morales Award for 2099.

The Mullets star delighted the hometown fans with a fine 2.70 ERA and 242 strikeouts in 216.2 innings. Conboy surrendered 177 hits and 49 walks and limited opposing batters to a .219 batting average.


Luna Scoops up RL Top Hurler Award
Wednesday, November 11th, 2099: He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Juan Luna performed like a veteran on the hill for the Ann Arbor Wolverines and walked away with the Republic League Mauro Morales Award in the process.

The 25-year-old Wolverines star fashioned a 20-8 won-loss record in 2099 with a 3.01 ERA. In 218.1 innings of work and 32 starts, Luna struck out 179 while giving up 210 hits and 35 walks. He held opposing batters to a .244 average.

Thursday, November 12th, 2099: Manchester's George Major put the wraps on a fine campaign today by winning the 2099 Continental League Bartolo Liriano Award.

The 28-year-old veteran scorched the opposition with a .298 average, picking up 159 hits, 26 doubles, 9 triples, 35 home runs and 115 RBIs, while scoring 88 runs.


Republic League Names Top Hitter
Thursday, November 12th, 2099: It's been a year of triumph for veteran Tokaji Sekine of the Ann Arbor Wolverines as he hit his way to the 2099 Republic League Bartolo Liriano Award.

The 35-year-old veteran compiled a .359 average and .428 on-base percentage by putting together 220 hits, 44 doubles, 5 triples, 44 home runs and 72 walks. He also scored 118 times and drove in 136 runs.
