Evil Parking Meters
Just when it seemed parking meters were getting better, new technology has wiped it all out. Things were going so well when they allowed you to pay by credit card, not needing loose change anymore.
But now in Santa Monica, new parking meters sense when your car has left the spot, and strip the meter of all remaining time. No longer can you inherit someone else's time. As if that's not bad enough, the same sensor stops you from adding time to your meter to extend your stay. It will not allow more money to be added until the car parked there drives away. my podunk town has 2 police cars and one stoplight. yet they're building a brand new courthouse (before you'd go to the county. which was a whopping 2.5 miles away)

At least when you leave if they remove the minutes they subtract those minutes at a pro rated rate and subtract that from the credit card swipe.
