Fantasy Football 2012: Who Should I Start This Week?

I'll kick it off. Struggling with one of my leagues.

PPR. 2 RB 2 WR 1 Flex.

QB
Matthew Stafford
Ryan Fitzpatrick

RB
Ahmad Bradshaw vs DAL
Arian Foster vs MIA
Doug Martin vs CAR
Willis McGahee vs PIT

WR
Calvin Johnson vs STL
Miles Austin @ NYG
Steve Johnson @ NYJ
Austin Collie @ CHI
Anquan Boldin vs CIN

TE
Jared Cook vs NEP
Greg Olsen @ TBB

Stafford, Foster, C. Johnson are guarantees obviously. But I'm struggling with the #2 WR, #2 RB, and flex.

I'm thinking about going with two RBs (Bradshaw and Martin) and one WR (Austin). Anybody think otherwise? I'm a homer and would like to avoid starting Bradshaw (Cowboys fan), but that's a dumb ass reason and think the drop off from him to S Johnson, Collie, or McGahee (would consider him but PIT scares me. Am I thinking of the PIT of old, or is that still something that should scare me?) would be too much just because I am too attached to the Cowboys.

Adrian Peterson or Ben Tate or Kendall Hunter or (possibly)Evan Royster.

I think they will somehow get Peterson a TD, but I'm not sure if he will get much action if the team isn't doing well.

I'm leaning towards playing Tate with Foster(who I also have) and hoping to get 25-30 points from the 2.

Out of those four I would go Hunter or Tate. I could see Tate getting some late game touches if the game goes like I see it going.

But in the end i'd probably go Hunter solely because I don't know that I'd like to start two RBs from the same team. But thats a personal thing and it very well maybe the smart play.

See those in bold.

Tate if you have matchup advantage, Royster if you have disadvantage. Tate should be good for a solid but low amount of points and does guarentee you get all Houston RB points. Royster could get 100 yards and a td or 5 yards, who knows, but he is the play with the most upside.

All Right I feel like my team should be renamed to The Walking Wounded. For Running Backs.
  • Adrian Peterson
  • Darren Sproles
  • Stephen Ridley
  • Ryan Mathews
I can go with two of those RBs... or I can use one RB and three receivers.
  • Calvin Johnson
  • Andre Johnson
  • Steve Johnson
  • Antonio Brown

No PPR

I'm thinking of the same lineup.
I'm really torn between Sproles and Peterson.
I'm not confident in going with either of them.

I'm really kicking myself for taking Mathews now. I knew better.

I'd go with Murray and Forte. I'd want to see how the carries shake out in the chiefs back field before id start Charles before the other 2

Starting Harvin, Lloyd, Fred Jackson

Need to start 1 RB and 1 FLEX out of:

Hillis, Amendola, McGahee, Ingram. Leaning toward Hillis and Amendola. I also have Kenny Britt, but that's not going to help this week.

That is where I ended up. For some reason I thought Sproles was listed as Questionable/Doubtful for the game, but that is not the case.

Really kicking myself for not snapping up Doug Martin rather than Mathews in my draft. I had taken Martin as my first round rookie pick in a keeper league, and I really don't like having duplicate players across leagues. Last year I had Chris Johnson and Antonio Gates in two leagues. I didn't fare well.

I like Toby and Deangelo, but Torrey Smith is also in line for a ton of targets. I think you could go with any 2 of those 3.

Here's who I picked up in my auction league ($200 for 16 players, QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE/FLEX/Defense-Special Team, 6 Bench)

QB

Aaron Rodgers (GB) $50
Andrew Luck (IND) $4
Andy Dalton (CIN) $2)

RB
Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG) $15
Kevin Smith (DET) $6
Steven Ridley (NE) $5

WR
Roddy White (ATL) $35
Steve Smith (CAR) $12
Miles Austin (DAL) $6
Michael Crabtree (SF) $4
Santonio Holmes (NYJ) $2

TE
Jimmy Graham (NO) $26

Defense/Special Teams
Texans ($4)
Steelers ($3)

Kicker:
Steven Gostkowski (NE) $3
Adam Vinatieri (IND) $15 (in a "It's my final player, so spend all my money just for giggles)

Thoughts:

Well, I have one of the gems at QB in Rodgers, plus I can see who will back him up in Luck (Probably) or Dalton. It depends on the matchup I guess the week Rodgers is out.

RB is a crap sandwich, as I have to hope that Bradshaw does a lot of business for me, and Ridley or Smith set up to be my #2. But the prices people were paying for RB, ugh.

TE, well, if Graham goes down, so does my season probably.. but if he doesn't and has another season like last year I should be pretty good.

WR: I probably overpayed for White but just like RB, if that doesn't work, I'm screwed, it will be matchup based who gets the #2 WR and FLEX starts

This is how Week 1 matches up for me, I'm playing an autodrafter, so who knows if he'll make changes, but I feel pretty confident of an easy win.

QB: Aaron Rodgers (me) vs Sam Bradford
RB: Ahmad Bradshaw/Steven Ridley vs Marshawn Lynch/DeMarco Murray
WR: Roddy White/Steve Smith vs Antonio Brown/Robert Meacham
TE: Jimmy Graham vs Fred Davis
RB/WR/TE: Miles Austin vs Willis McGahee
DEF: Steelers vs Bills
K: Steven Gostkowski vs Dan Bailey

I've got a flex spot with the following players available:

RB Marshawn Lynch (Q) @ AZ
RB Stevan Ridley @ TEN
WR Vincent Jackson vs. CAR
WR Torrey Smith vs. CIN
WR Titus Young vs. StL
WR Michael Crabtree @ GB

I was sticking to Lynch throughout the week, but I just slotted Torrey Smith in. I think realistically it's Smith or VJax, only because of the injury status of Lynch. Sadly, I won't be around tomorrow to change things around pre-game, I have to make my decision tonight.

My RB corp is decimated by injuries and suspensions, so it probably won't matter, but who is best as a flex option: Lance Moore, Justin Blackmon, or Kendall Wright? I can only play one.

The rest of the starters:
QB - E. Manning
RB - D. McCluster (Yikes! - R. Mathews is my only stud)
RB - R. Hillman (Double yikes!)
WR - A.J. Green
WR - M. Austin
TE - J. Graham
Flex - R. Gronkowski
K - M. Prater
DEF - Buffalo

My opponent's starters:
QB - M. Stafford
RB - L. McCoy
RB - A. Bradshaw
WR - D. Amendola
WR - J. Nelson
TE - B. Pettigrew
Flex1 - D. Brown
Flex2 - S. Greene
K - Janikowski
DEF - NY Giants

Questionable Lynch vs Arizona or handcuff Ronnie Brown splitting time @ Oakland. Also, I still have a flex spot open where I have Jermaine Gresham @ Ravens. I guess that flex spot doesn't need to be decided until tomorrow night.

My worry is that if Foster's not 100%, neither he nor Tate will be as effective overall as Williams, who with Stewart's injury, is the undisputed #1 RB this week against last years worst rush D.

I'm going to stick with Foster now he's confirmed to start, basically cause you've got to start him, but I'm going in with the high possibility that the law of sod will apply

Not a starting question, but Im looking to upgrade my WR corps

I was offered
Andre Johnson
Scrub Pat's RB

I would give up:
Forte
Eric Decker

As it stands, I would say no as Johnson can get injrued any week. My RB corp is pretty strong as I have Murray, Charles, and Forte. Would an offer of Charles for Johnson be slightly better?
My starting WR are Austin, Antonio Brown, and Eric Decker. I also have Cobb and Blackmon on the bench. (I also have Ronnie Brown at RB and James Jones at WR also on the bench, but they are whatever at this point). We play no flex, two RB, three WR

Yahoo! has really outdone themselves with the new Recaps page. Feels like a real game. It's right next to the Final link next to the scores. Here's an example:

Quote:
Run 513 beat A.M. Lumber 124 - 97 and put up the highest point total in the league this week. Each side hit their projections, but Run 513 put up 31.9% more points than projected (94.01) to earn the win. Peyton Manning led A.M. Lumber with 24 points while Matt Forte brought in 18. Run 513 starts the campaign with a 1-0 record, good enough for first place. A.M. Lumber opens at 0-1 and in ninth place.
Run 513 Smooth Moves
  • The 14 points scored by Jimmy Graham was the highest TE score in the league this week.
  • Frank Gore had the fourth-highest score among RBs in the league this week with 20 points.
  • The 20 points scored by Brandon Marshall was the fourth-highest score by a WR in the league this week.
  • 6 of the 9 starters on Run 513 exceeded their projected points.
  • The 15 points scored by the Houston Texans Defense outpaced their 11.50-point scoring projection by 30.4%.
A.M. Lumber Regret Tracker
  • A.M. Lumber left the 23 points scored by Stevan Ridley on the bench this week. He beat his projected point total by 217.7%, the eighth-highest percentage in the league.
  • At the DEF position, A.M. Lumber got outscored 15 - 6 by Run 513.
  • It was not a good week for A.M. Lumber at TE, where they were beaten 14 - 7.
  • A.M. Lumber had only 3 of their 9 starters underperform versus their projections, but they still lost.
  • With 4 points versus a projected 11.02, Chris Johnson scored only 36.3% of his projected point total.
What If
  • Run 513 would have beaten nine other teams besides A.M. Lumber this week.
  • Run 513 would have had to score 52 fewer points to lose to all teams in the league this week.
  • Besides Run 513, A.M. Lumber would have been defeated by five other teams this week.
  • If A.M. Lumber had scored 25 fewer points, they would have lost to all teams in the league this week.
Game Notes
  • The 27.00-point margin of victory by Run 513 was the largest in the league this week.
  • Run 513 covered the 9.35-point spread, winning by 27.00 points.
  • A.M. Lumber lost, but Peyton Manning played well, scoring 24 points to rank 10th in the league in scoring.
  • Matt Forte was a bright spot for A.M. Lumber in the loss with 18 points, the ninth-highest RB score in the league this week.
  • The 31 points put up by the RBs on Run 513 was the second-highest combined score by a team's RBs this week.
  • Although A.M. Lumber lost, Phil Dawson played well, bringing in 78.8% more points than was projected (12 points against a projected 6.71).
  • Although Run 513 won, they got little help from Garrett Hartley, who only put up 6 points of a projected 10.95.
  • Both teams scored more points than projected this week.

Bump for any thoughts

Yes. Someone else also puts Fitzgerald on the block

KR and PR yardage counts the same as each yard rushed/received as well

What do you think about this trade?

I give up:
QB - Eli Manning
TE - Gronkowski
RB - Ryan Mathews

I get:
QB - Rodgers
TE - Hernandez
RB - Ridley

Is someone getting screwed here? Is this worth it? Should I blow off the trade proposal? I need a second opinion here!!!

i would never trade a rb of any consequence for a wr. looks like you have a good team. there's no reason to make a move. the guy's trying to sell high on johnson before his annual nagging injury kicks in.

what's your rb situation? if ridley is gonna be your rb1 i wouldn't do it. if ridley was your rb2 (or 3) i would.

Yeah, Ridley would be RB1. My RB situation is terrible (my first auction and I greatly undervalued RBs). I was just a bit concerned about Mathews' ability to stay healthy.

I think I'll pass on the trade. Manning will see more good days than bad, and I would be angry if my only stud RB on my roster was traded away and then had a good year.

Thanks for the push!

Don't underestimate your ability to see the future in controlling your fantasy team. After all, your lineup deadline is Sunday night, isn't it?
