PING: 1&1 Customers - Deceitful Price Increase
1and1 deceiving upgrade - Web Hosting Talk
I got this e-mail today, just wanted to make sure anyone else here who is using 1&1 for web hosting doesn't miss it, as its very easy to miss. I use them for our FBCB league. The forum post is from a brit and the prices are in pounds. The relevant sections from the e-mail I got: Quote:
and Quote:
I pay $12.99/mo now, so they're basically trying to sneak a $2/mo cost increase on me for essentially no benefit. I replied asking if i can "decline" the upgrade and not have my rate increase. If they say no I'll 100% be switching hosts. I may well switch regardless, this is a pretty dirty way of going about things and I'm pretty unhappy about it. |

I got one about their migration to PHP5, but nothing in the message about a rate change.

Just saw that the message you posted was from the UK. There is a different business unit that handles UK/Europe than the one that handles the US.

Double dola,
I see you got an email with a price increase. Interesting.

The subject of my e-mail was "Important contract information about your Business package 83xxxxx" (my customer ID at the end there)

I have the Premier Business package, so I wonder if they didn't do a rate increase on that offering.

My webhost tried to sneak stuff like this through for awhile. I would get a few "opt-out" offers a year. Never bothered to switch because I figured opt-out offers were just normal. But I stopped getting them awhile ago.
