FBCB Multiplayer League Recruiting

Its June of 2048 in our multiplayer FBCB league, we're entering our 46th season and have been going strong for 8+ years now. For those of you who were around towards the end of the first version when the only way to win was to recruit teams that steal the ball 20+ times a game... those days are gone in this version, things are much more balanced and many different strategies look to be able to win. We've had 7 different teams win national titles in the last 10 years.

We've been making conference changes as they've been confirmed in the real world, so Notre Dame and Louisville are in the ACC, Maryland and Rutgers in the Big 10, etc.

We're in scheduling now, and the all-important recruiting stages for our new season will begin on Thursday, the perfect time to join or rejoin!

FBCB-FOFC.com • Index page to register
http://fbcb-fofc.com/league for the league HTML

the main site sucks, so don't look at that!

Important registration note - I have to manually approve all forum registrations, so if you end up signing up for a forum account, please reply here to let me know your account name and I'll approve it.

Last year in the old version/first year in the new version I think caused things to record weirdly/not record that season.

A season takes 7-8 weeks. During assistant hiring and during the postseason we sim 5 days a week (Sunday-Thursday). For the rest of the season we sim 3 days a week, sunday/tuesday/thursday. The sims are generally scheduled for 3pm eastern but I'd be lying if I didn't say that i am very bad about keeping any reliability in my schedule (for the league or for real life!) so in reality the sims run between 3pm-7pm depending on what my schedule looks that day.

I don't e-mail files out, the league file zip is ~20 meg at its largest and play by play the way I do those zip files get up to 20 MB at their peak as well.

There's an export to server button in the game client, it automatically ftp's your submission to the league's server. No extra work needed on that side.

When new files are posted after a sim is run, they are posted as zip files (one for the core league files and, during the regular season, one containing all the play by play files), you download those and unzip them into the directory for the league.

You come at the king, you best not miss.

Been in the league since the very beginning, and just won my first title this past season.

you're activated. You want to pick a team (Human Coaches - current list of human run teams, all other teams available), and sign up in this thread: FBCB-FOFC.com • View topic - New Coach Signups - REOPENED (5/14/10 update). I have a doctors appointment this afternoon so the sim will run late, if you're able to do this before 6pm or so I'll get you in today.

Woohoo new people

Signing up...I have been meaning to join you guys for some time now. Never got around to it tho...

The game (FBCB 2010) is the reason I signed up for this board oddly enough...

Is Kansas available?

FBCB is much lower maintenance and more forgiving than the other big text sims in MP. You really want to get all your recruiting in if you can (4 sims in a row at one point during the offseason, and then once per in game month until you've filled all your scholarships). Outside of that, there is not much that would leave you seriously regretting missing any one sim. CPU can be set to hire assistants, schedule, and will manage your lineup if you have an injury. Presumably you can do all these things more effectively, but if you miss something, its not a big deal.

Some people just do recruiting and then set their lineups and that's about it. That's fine too, though I definitely find it more fun to be more involved than that

Any conferences want 2 easy wins per year?

OK, I'll dip my toe in the water. Will sign up in a bity at the FBCB forum. I'll claim Ohio State.

Would love wo be Washington, but think it will be more fun playing in a conference with other real players.

Radii- I am already a member over there, apparently I was in a MP league in 2008.

So what now? Do I have to wait for you to assign TOSU to me?

I don't think your coach is in the system anymore.

All three of you want to go to FBCB-FOFC.com • View topic - New Coach Signups - REOPENED (5/14/10 update) and create a coach and claim your team. I'll add you all during the next sim tomorrow.

You can do that now and take a look at your team, and the recruits, and whatever....but you won't be able to do anything or export until radii adds you to the file next sim.

Recruiting did start with yesterday's sim. Not sure if Radii could get the new guys in before, of if it will screw things up.

Nobody commits for a while though. I believe we're 2-3 more sims before that starts happening. Basically, the only thing your missing right now is setting call lists and evaluating talent. You can't really do any recruiting tell after Thursdays sim.

I went ahead and added you, henry and dave to the game and uploaded a new file. If you're able to get recruiting in by tomorrow, cool, if not, CPU recruiting for the first round isn't too bad and you can build off the targets the AI goes after.

I went ahead and added Saldana to the league file as well so you can go ahead and do recruiting for michigan.

I created a generic coach and will edit all the information/ratings to what you specify when you register for the team.

I'm still debating...I do Bracketology for WWCB and love it. Just wondering if I have time for another league. I'm not sure if I'd want Penn State, Bucknell, or UConn though.

You did. I imported it and I can see that you've used up your recruiting budget, looks good. I checked the other new teams that have exported so far as well (Sac State, Duke, Syracuse). All look right.

you download the full file once to set up the league directory structure. After that you never have to do that again.

Then you download the file in my sig to get the most updated data files.
