NBC dedicated a whole 27 seconds to that report. That's what I call class!

All I know is she looked terrible in that "Women of SNL" thing they did fairly recently.. I wondered what she must be suffering from at the time, and apparently it was something pretty bad. Sad to see her life cut short, whatever it was.

Sad to hear this - she was fantastic, and seldom not funny. Way too young.

That 86-90 cast is still my favorite SNL troupe by a wide margin. Sad news.

I got into the show and watched it the most from ~88-94. Until you posted this , I didn't realize that, in my head, I think of casts before that as "old" casts and casts after that as "new" casts. And the late 80s, early 90s cast is "the cast."

I remember her long before her SNL stint on a skit show from Atlanta called "Tush." It aired on TBS before it was TBS. She was hilarious even then. Just sad that she is gone.

Yup, plays a very underappreciated role in the SNL canon.

That was a good read. I never really thought of her as one of the best cast members of SNL, but thinking about it there weren't any female cast members I really liked as much as her until Fey and Poehler came along. She was a lot better than I ever really knew I guess.. Having lost my grandfather in very much the same way as her family lost her, I know how hard it is to watch someone go, but how much of a relief it is that they don't have to suffer anymore.

I think I'll fire up some early 90's SNL now.
