LOCKLIER POWERS CATS' TO FINALS
montana free press
Bozeman, MT--- For the 2nd straight game Michal Locklier put Montana St on his back carrying them to a 72-67 win. Locklier scored 24 points and added 13 rebounds for his 2nd consecutive double double. The Bobcats got out of the gate slow as Portland St started off the game by taking a 15-4 lead. But the Cats' responed with a 14-0 run and it was nip tuck the rest of the first half.
In the 2nd Broderick DaSilva hit a couple 3s and Gilson Bigelow scored 8 of his 10 points. The Vikings cut a 10 point lead to 3 with 14 seconds to go but the Wilmont and Trevor Warzynski both hit their 2 free throws to seal the win.
Franklin DeLeon did everything in his power to keep the game close scoring 26 points on 10-14 shooting. But he had very little help. The Bobcats out rebounded the Vikings 45-31.
Northern Arizona advanced in the other final with a 103-82 victory to set up a much anticipated trilogy tomorrow night. Montana St has won both games this year. The Bobcats currently project as an #8 seed with a 44 rpi.

Re: Coach Rocky Cage
Good luck Coach Cage!! If by some crazy fluke you lose, do you think you will make it into the tournament?
Back when I had a UC Davis legacy, we had a similar record to yours and we squeaked in with a 9 seed. The craziest part was we weren't on the bubble so I just assumed I would be put in the NIT.. It was really weirdโIf youโre true to yourself, youโre going to be true to everyone else.โComment

ONE SHINING MOMENT
montana free press
Bozeman, MT---Clinton Wilmont was the very first recruit to sign for Coach Cage, saw Worthington Arena triple in attendance during his time and has knocked down a school record 307 threes in his 4 year career. But none were more important than #307.
Montana St saw a 14 point lead disappear over the last 8 minutes including an 8-0 run by the Lumberjacks to tie the game at 72-72 with 1:28 to go. Wilmont had missed 4 straight threes in that stretch but when he got it down to Michal Locklier, the entire Northern Arizona defense collapsed on him. Locklier had had another brilliant game 19 points 11 rebounds but his 6th assist to Wilmont, whom took the shot like he hadn't missed one all night. Confident. And banged it home. 75-72. 1:01 to go.
Both teams got defensive stops and Buddy Clayton took an ill advised 2 with 4 seconds to go but OJ Burnstein grabbed the board and got it back to Clayton at the top of the key. SWISH. But after review the ball was still on the tip of his fingertips as the clock expired and Montana St finished a magnificent Big Sky Season.
The Game started fast for Montana St as they built an early 14-4 lead but N Arizona would answer with a run of their own to go up 39-30. A couple of threes by Allan Isham and Wilmont got the score to 41-37 at half.
Cecil Day led the charge in the 2nd half scoring all of his 13 points in the half helping the Bobcats build the 14 point lead. Germain Ballard and Wilmont both ended with 13 as well.
Clayton led the comeback charge finishing with 20 points while Martell Dickerson played great during the stretch as well and ended with 16. Burnstien added 11 points 12 rebounds.
The Bobcats await their fate this coming Sunday. Northern Arizona will cross their fingers and hope for an NIT bid.
