Re: Fight Night Round 4 Demo Impressions

Does anyone else feel like there is something missing from the game? I feel like the first few rounds or so, barring a "lucky punch" its just used to wear down the CPU. My jabs and even hooks and uppercuts that land flush (non-haymakers) dont really do anything. I can stand there and hit him with all the regular hooks or uppercuts I want and it does minimal damage.

It's not as bad as previous FN's where you basically just wore them down and once their health was low enough, they went down 2-3 straight times, but it just seems its more about putting the time in than "boxing" them. How many fights have you seen over the years where in the middle rounds, it wasnt about the # of punches, it was about a few great shots (PPacman/Hatton, Jones Jr/Tarver, Tyson/anyone)
Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

You too can be a 5* recruit at FSU.......

Re: Fight Night Round 4 Demo Impressions

I played the demo and enjoyed it for what little it provided...a sneak peak. The graphics were good, as with the controls. The gameplay was a bit over the top (not much fatigue/stick mashing) but with sliders in the retail version I can't call the game a button (stick) masher yet. Based off the demo, I will be purchasing the game and tweaking it down to a more sim type experience with silders, hud off, etc...I had fun with the demo, and that's all I wanted to find out...the fun factor is there...demos have to appeal to the masses...marketing 101.

The presentation was generally engrossing minus a few odd things that would seem pretty basic:
      1. There is no tale of the tape. It would be nice to have your progressive/current record, wins by ko, "boxing out of whatever city and state" <CITY, state>,etc...announced at the beginning of each fight (maybe in career mode??..doubt it, but hopeful)
      2. There is no excitement/anticipation when its time to go to the score cards for the decision. It just goes to the fighter's reaction. Boxing is my favorite sport to watch on TV. At the end of a good fight there is no feeling like waiting for the judges scorecards to see how they scored the fight BEFORE knowing who actually won..hard to explain, but I hope it makes sense.

All in all, great sneak peak at the game via the demo.

It's 3 rounds and on easy level so I think you're jumping the gun a bit.

The controls seem to lag and sometimes the punches I throw either don't register or are thrown long after I input the command, especially on power punches.

I can't throw head hooks to save my life. Body hooks are cake, but very annoying when I'm clearly trying to throw something else.

Either Ricky Hatton sucks in this game or I can only play the game when my fighter is on the right side of the screen.

Throwing low blows and headbutts are fun. I always try and throw one or two at the end of rounds to impose my will.

How do you do that little thing where you bob and weave while you come forward? I've tried it several times in tutorial but I cant get it.

                      12:00 to 3:00

                      6:00 to 3:00

Keep in mind, its based on which direction your fighter is facing, so the above is if you're facing right.

Do you have to do it really fast or something?

The more I play the demo the more I enjoy it. At first I struggled with combos but the TPC stick feels really natural now. I can't wait for the 25th.

I understand what you mean, and I do think it's possible, but think of how most fights go. Guys get worn down over at least 6-7 rounds and then eventually go down in the later rounds, not the early ones. Off the top of my head: Tyson-Douglas, Pavlik-Taylor, Pavlik-Abraham, Taylor-Froch, Peter-V.Klitschko, Pacquiao-Morales, Corrales-Castillo I, De la hoya - Hopkins, Mayweather-Hatton, Hatton-Tsyzu, etc.

Is it possible to stun someone with a right/left cross? One area I think they dropped the ball was it seems like the "stun" punches only occur after a counter. If a punch is clean enough, it should stun no matter if it comes on a counter or not.
