Paul Williams vs. Sergio Martinez II
Who you rolling with? The first fight was a war, I can't wait for this rematch. Punish 'em, Paul.Tags: None -

Re: Paul Williams vs. Sergio Martinez II
I think anyone who makes a call on this fight (or bet) is foolish. This is as pick'em a fight as it can possibly get.
I am a HUGE Punisher fan but I respect Sergio and he always puts on good fights. He reminds me of a latino Calzaghe...
Regardless, I hope both guys end up giving us a trilogy and then both move to 168. That is where the money is and a ton of talent resides there.Comment

Re: Paul Williams vs. Sergio Martinez II
I love Paul Williams...he reminds me of Tommy Hearns back in the day. Really tall, lanky, and boxes from a distance beautifully. It seems that martinez is a match-up nightmare for The Punisher though. Sergio did a great job circling Paul and using angles to set up a vicious body attack. I think Paul has the brighter future but I think Martinez simply has his number. Martinez is at his natural weight, he boxes beautifully and has pop. Plus the guy's conditioning in amazing he has ridunkulous stamina. Lastly, his soccer legs give him a solid base to sit and trade when he needs to. Paul can obviously use his length and distance to keep Martinez in check and maybe use his work rate to offset anything Martinez throws at him but Sergio is sorta like Pac Man...he is unorthodox and creative...very difficult to train for. I like both guys a lot. The winner will have many options in front of him and a lot of opportunity to get filthy rich.Dios mio, por favor dame paciencia con estos jugadores que aceptan productos "glitchy"Comment

Re: Paul Williams vs. Sergio Martinez II
Should be a great fight. When is it btw?
I'm gonna go with Martinez. He looked great against Pavlik if he improves his defense he will be a force as i feel he gets hit too often due to his "hands low" style.
Martinez hurt paul with the flash knockdown in the first fight and Paul was given a KD when it should've been just a slip. Martinez was never hurt by Paul's punches."I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

Re: Paul Williams vs. Sergio Martinez II
I got tickets to this fight and I couldn't be more pumped for this. Anyone else from the OS going to AC for this fight? I'm heading there with 6 buddies.
As for the fight, I think Martinez wins this one easily. I know, I know some of you will think I'm nuts. To me Paul Williams is the most overrated fighter in the sport. Really who has he beat? I'll give him props from beating Margarito in a close fight. A split with Carlos Quintana? Verno Phillips? A rusty over past his prime Winky Wright? A controversial decision vs. Martinez? A MD win in a strange fight vs. Kermit Cintron in which he looked less than impressive. I just have a feeling Martinez will be at another level and won't leave it in the judges hands. I'm predicting a late round KO (9-10 round). If I was putting money on this fight I would put the bank on Martinez. If Williams wins I'll certainly come back to this thread and eat crow.PSN: bronk14Comment

Re: Paul Williams vs. Sergio Martinez II
I think Martinez won a very close fight last time,
this time it's the same thing for me, I don't REALLY care who wins, I just want a fantastic fight. It's almost better this way when you don't have a favourite because I one point you're pulling for one guy because he's getting beat on and out of no where he just clocks the other guy and you're like "EFF YEAAAH". And vise versa. It's just (hopefully) going to be a great tilt.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

I like Paul more as a fighter, but I think Sergio presents a mismatch - a James Toney inside counter puncher who can get under Paul's long arms.Comment

Re: Paul Williams vs. Sergio Martinez II
I'm with Bronk on this one...I think Punisher is a bit overrated, and his style is just really awkward to watch - I actually don't think he uses his height/reach advantages nearly as well as he should for a fighter of his caliber. I'm not really a fan of Martinez, but I think he won the first fight. He hurt Williams; I never got the feeling that Williams ever really had Sergio in trouble. Just my opinion, but Martinez hits a helluva lot harder than I think he gets credit for.
I do think Martinez is going to stop Paul Williams. Maybe 10th or 11th? I think Martinez's confidence is at an all-time high right now, and he is hitting on all cylinders going into this fight. I'm just hoping for another barn-burner come Saturday night...and it's on HBO!!!!
Funny how I would never have paid just to watch Pacquiao-Margarito on my own, but I would totally pay for Martinez-Williams, yet it's the latter bout that's the broadcast one and the former that was pay-per-view...Comment
