Yeah I can see only the diehard Apple fans buying this for that price. Cool concept but it will probably take 5 years or so before the price comes down to where your average person can afford it.

Looking forward to future iterations. They're pot committed to give us at least a couple I figure.

Hope their Epic feud doesn't hold gaming in general back on the device.

Still trying to wrap my head around the idea of how games will be developed without controller features.

What will grab my attention is Apple announcing securing certain televised rights with MLB and the NFL (as well as Disney+) when offering that VR experiences. Imagine watching behind home plate of your virtual stadium during seasonal, playoffs, and championship games? How about being able to stand above the whole field and watch a football game like when we remember playing electric football? And because it's portal, you break out your lawn chair outside, attach it to your iphone or ipad, and soak in all that cold air. Now that's immersion.

Yeah, at that price range, it is years away from a mainstream thing

That's the realm of the Quest devices, including one that shares a lot of features as those one and could benefit from its existence.

I'm still committed in a Quest3 which will be in April but wondering if anyone is jumping-in with pre-orders starting January 19th?

Apple usually don't discount prices on their devices so it'll be interesting to see how long that price remains. Also, if you do pre-order make sure you have your eye-glass prescription with you as the lens are personally customized. Seeing them play NBA 2K in <s>VR</s>AR looked interesting

Apple Vision Pro is Apple’s first spatial computer. It seamlessly blends digital content with your physical space using revolutionary technology.

I'd be disappointed if I was investing in this with all of the apps that are opting out of producing a native app for it. Netflix, Spotify, and Youtube all opting against creating dedicated experiences (you'll need to use a browser) and others are expected to follow suit and you'll have to use a web browser to access.

I can understand that. Like many new devices it will take time depending on the demand.

According to reports which applications will be available on the Vision Pro?

Along with Apple apps such as Apple Arcade, Apple Music, Apple TV and Safari, at launch, these third-party apps will be available for the Vision Pro:

So they blew out their 200K pre-orders and now are now taking back orders. If anyone picked it up today, love to hear about it.

I agree. Instead of playing in front of an enormous screen, put me in the seat of the arena in version 2 when playing NBA 2K in AR/VR.

Lol...plus all the other improvements that will be made.

I actually did the demo and it was impressive. I went in with the thought, if it blew me away, I was leaving with one. With that being said, it wasn't out of this world impressive.

If you have never experienced VR, then it would blow your mind. My impression was, it the best VR experience I've ever used. I have the PSVR 1 and 2 and Meta 2 and 3 and they're not even close. The Vision Pro is not a gaming device so its not fair to compare them to regular VR units in that aspect.

How Apple incorporated a computer experience in this form factor was just incredible. I can honestly say, I don't ever wanna use a Mac book again (as I type this on a Mac Book). If you were in the market for a Mac Book Pro, I would defiantly spend the extra money and get a Apple Vision Pro.

                            Re: Apple Vision Pro

Here's rumored news and links released today by UpLoadVR. Early word was that the headset needed to be cheaper and lighter so naturally the newer future model would encompass those qualities. It maybe happening sooner than later. Not sure what to believe but with the way technology changes so fast and with Apple's deep pockets, who knows.

Chinese news outlet WallStreetCN reports Apple plans to launch the cheaper and lighter Vision headset as early as June 2025.

The report cites "the supply chain" as saying Apple is accelerating the launch from an original plan of September 2025, and claims the headset will weigh roughly 400 grams, significantly lighter than the 600-650 gram Vision Pro.

Last year Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who reliably reported many details of Vision Pro before it was officially revealed or even acknowledged to exist by Apple, too reported on the existence of this cheaper headset, saying it will feature an A-series chipset (used in iPhones) instead of an M-series chipset and is "likely" to lack the EyeSight front display. The A17 Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro models has a GPU with 6 cores that's roughly 60% as powerful as the M2's GPU, so it seems reasonable an A18 Pro or A19 Pro might close the gap.

WallStreetCN reports Apple plans to launch the far cheaper and lighter Vision headset as early as June 2025. More details here.
