3.8% will never buy another XBOX again because of it.

While I think the numbers are somewhat inflated, I'm on 5 or whatever, it's easy to lose count. I quit going through MS entirely, as their refurbished consoles from 2006 seemed to die just as randomly as brand new models. Now I go used off ebay and get the x clamp done. I can say that I haven't had another RROD since doing that, but DVD drives are another issue.

I wonder how much a $299 ps3 will change some of this. While I put up with the horrible quality, I'll probably never buy another Microsoft console again after this generation. They suck at making hardware. At least the RROD is a step up from the ring of death the first xbox could have, which was actual fire.
The PS2 and 360 were/are like that abusive husband that beats his wife every night, but for some reason she (consumer) loves him and comes back for more.

Seriously, both systems had all kinds of problems with I think the 360 having even more. A lot of it comes down to people having multiple games/accessories and friends own the same system so they will put up more with faulty hardware than try out the competition. I think these are some of the reasons why the numbers are so high for PS2 sales and same goes with 360 as people buy multiple replacement consoles. I've been guilty of owning a few 360's as mainly upgrades..........except for ditching the system at one time or another thinking I could go with out it.

I don't know, that is a pretty bold statement.

I don't know but my Uncle did buy one just for the Blu-Ray. So if you bought a PS3 for the sole purpose of the Blu-Ray feature that is one unit sold for it's purpose.

On the other hand, if you bought three 360's because your first two broke, that would be three units on the book, two more to the same consumer because of replacements.

That's what I meant by sales figures could be inflated because of the failure rate.

I'm out of warranty, so if my 360 goes out again, I will be in the market for an Elite. That would be two units sold to me for the sole purpose of gaming.
